I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost? A total of $20 for a 90 day supply. Maybe now that it is available in generic form all of our insurance companies will be less difficult to work with and get approved. We can only hope........

I am sure my insurance will be all over that generic provigil..they hate covering for it now. But we do need a generic, as long as it works as well. I used to pay half of the cost, $250.00, until my plan changed and now I only pay $80.00. Its their plan but some things don't go their way.

s patent does not expire until 2011 (?) - there will be no generic on the market for Provigil until after this date. Cephalon mfgs. Provigil. Nuvigil is the NU version of Provigil that Cephalon has developed that will be protected under patent law from generic versions until 2023. They are doing their best to get Provigil users to switch to Nuvigil over the next few years, protecting their market share and their profits.

I use Adderall for fatigue and it helped me better than provigil did. Better yet it is generic and so my copay is only $10.00. Much better than 25, or 50 that I have to pay for other meds. Maybe switching to a generic will help. Can't hurt to ask. Hope it helps!

My doctor wrote me prescriptions for the generic of Provigil and I will be sending it off to an on-line Canadian pharmacy to fill. It is actually affordable, so I'm going to try it.

After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).

Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.

I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I just dropped off my prescription to get it filled at the pharmacy. I'm holding out a little bit of hope that the medicine will work. I'm thouroughly discouraged about the Provigil not being covered by my insurance company because I feel halfway human on this medicine. I kind of feel like the character Charlie in Flowers for Algernon having seen the way I could be and having to slide backwards to the way things were before.

ve been taking the generic for Celexa and it has helped with keeping a good perspective on everything. Even when things are really bad I seem to keep a reasonable attitude. I haven't heard of anything that helps with the fatigue.

I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.

My insurance initially said 'no' to provigil because I didn't have narcolepsy. So I tried amantadine and I reacted badly to it. Then my neuro appealed and provigil was approved. I don't know what he said in the appeal, but you might mention this to your doctor. Provigil has gone generic recently and got cheaper, so I don't know if it is any easier to get than nuvigil.

I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.

I've been taking provigil for almost a year and have been quite pleased with its ability to keep me awake; however, for the last few weeks I've been crashing again. I make it until noon and then just suffer through the rest of the day. My thinking has also gotten very "all over the place". I wonder if I'm in a flare. Has anyone else had this happen?
