572651 tn?1530999357 I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost? A total of $20 for a 90 day supply. Maybe now that it is available in generic form all of our insurance companies will be less difficult to work with and get approved. We can only hope........
Avatar f tn I am sure my insurance will be all over that generic provigil..they hate covering for it now. But we do need a generic, as long as it works as well. I used to pay half of the cost, $250.00, until my plan changed and now I only pay $80.00. Its their plan but some things don't go their way.
1088527 tn?1425313375 hey Sarah provigil went generic now so maybe your insurance will cover it? I am taking 200mg I can half the pills .
333672 tn?1273792789 Therefore, when the generic comes out, most people will be on the new, patent-protected version and presumably prefer that Acccording to the article, "Cephalon [the company that make Provigil] acknowledges regularly increasing the price of its drugs, based on where in their lifecycles they are, market forces, its research-and-development costs and other factors.
Avatar n tn I use Adderall for fatigue and it helped me better than provigil did. Better yet it is generic and so my copay is only $10.00. Much better than 25, or 50 that I have to pay for other meds. Maybe switching to a generic will help. Can't hurt to ask. Hope it helps!
429700 tn?1308007823 After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).
572651 tn?1530999357 I too was on Provigil for awhile and then my insurance company (when I had paid ins) stopped paying because I was only a "possible"......said it didn't fit the proper Dx for the drug...... Maybe we should start writing the drug companies and telling them the insurance companies are refusing to pay for their product after the docs write it.............My neuro said I had to have a Dx of hypersomnia or narcolepsy to qualify for it per my insurance co.......
Avatar f tn Medicine is what I meant to say! I'm getting used to typing on an iPad...it fills in words that I don't want sometimes...
429700 tn?1308007823 Thank you so much for the feedback. I just dropped off my prescription to get it filled at the pharmacy. I'm holding out a little bit of hope that the medicine will work. I'm thouroughly discouraged about the Provigil not being covered by my insurance company because I feel halfway human on this medicine. I kind of feel like the character Charlie in Flowers for Algernon having seen the way I could be and having to slide backwards to the way things were before.
Avatar n tn ve been taking the generic for Celexa and it has helped with keeping a good perspective on everything. Even when things are really bad I seem to keep a reasonable attitude. I haven't heard of anything that helps with the fatigue.
1807779 tn?1333840302 hi Daisy. I take the generic form of Provigil and some days I don't take it and I pay for it later in the day with the tiredness settling in. I know it is not addictive/habit forming, but I hate taking all these pills and that is one I can skip at times. Have you asked your doctor about this? As always, please don't take my comments as medical advice because everyone's situation is different.
1511858 tn?1290477459 Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
Avatar f tn I take back the statement about not going a day without Provigil. I didn't take it when I had the flu or gastroenteritis or whatever it was. I didn't want to energize the bug that attacked me and certainly didn't care about staying awake to observe my own mysery. I survived without any problems I can recall but I was already pretty miserable those four days anyway. NO obvious withdraw type stuff. You can take it one day and not the next.
233622 tn?1279334905 When he took a quarter of a Provigil (50 mg) his B/P stayed ok. But when he went to 100 mg his B/P went way up to 160 /110 and he started to have some vision changes. He is now off of the drug. Be careful and monitor your blood pressure.
2288403 tn?1339564728 My insurance initially said 'no' to provigil because I didn't have narcolepsy. So I tried amantadine and I reacted badly to it. Then my neuro appealed and provigil was approved. I don't know what he said in the appeal, but you might mention this to your doctor. Provigil has gone generic recently and got cheaper, so I don't know if it is any easier to get than nuvigil.
968560 tn?1307451498 I checked with the provigil,my insurance wont cover it and even that they have a generic available for provigil (modafil) the price for the generic without insurance is $167 a month 200mg a day.My hepa said all stimulants have the potential for abuse Didrex is a class III schedule and is less addictive than the addrerall or the ritilan(which he cant write for anyway. Didrex was approved by the FDA in 1960 as a Central Nerve stimulant. The normal dosage is 2-50mg tabs daily and costs $22.
1831920 tn?1320857757 I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had no significant side effects from Provigil except that when it wore off in the afternoon I would feel a kind of odd, hard-edged tension or something for awhile. Ritalin (a low dose--I took 10 mg twice a day) is great for concentration, motivation, cheerful mood, and faster typing! :) I had no side effects whatsoever. I now take Strattera and it works perfectly for the fog. It's not for fatigue, though. Nancy T.
405614 tn?1329144114 I had been on Provigil for several years and I loved it when I started it. It did make my heartbeat fast and I would breath hard. I could stay awake for a long time, but there were times I took it and I crashed. I did have problems with getting it filled. Every time I went to the pharmacy with a new prescription that didn't have refills on it, the pharmacy said they couldn't fill it until my doctor fax over a letter with my diagnosis.
572651 tn?1530999357 I've heard that the generic provigil isn't half what provigil is........but have filled out the paperwork for provigil, just haven't heard back from them yet, for assistance.
