provigil

620048 tn?1358018235 For my body it is much better than Provigil. With my mail order pharmacy the cost for 90 days (1 pill per day) is $970.20 without insurance and with my insurance the cost to me is $220.91. I believe this one is worth every penny. My insurance had never approved Provigil so my doctor was giving me samples. The Nuvigil is lower in cost so my insurance company approved it without much of a fight.
148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
405614 tn?1329144114 It would be great if that could help with my fatigue as well as help me lose weight, and cost a lot less than Provigil. Heck, I looked it up and it is also in the same class as amphetamines, and could raise my heart rate/BP. I'll ask how it compares to Ritalin as far as side effects. I think Ritalin reduces the appetite, too, and would cost me a small co-pay. I'm so sorry about your lower back pain; I'm seeing my physical therapist about mine today.
620048 tn?1358018235 The cost without insurance is about $340 for a 30 day supply ( 1 pill per day). My insurance covers much of that. You can get a coupon on line for a one week "free sample". I am optimistic for the first time in several years. This works great for me. As we all know though, we are different and what works for one may not work for another.
Avatar f tn Volkow said modafinil acts slowly when swallowed and is difficult to inject, making it less likely to be abused. Its high price, about $10 per pill compared to Ritalin at $2 per pill, also makes it less attractive to people seeking a high. That may change when generics become available in 2012, Volkow said. Jeffry Vaught, chief science officer for Cephalon, said the company has seen no evidence the drug is highly abused.
Avatar f tn I posted this elsewhere, but it fits under this heading, as well: I have debilitating fatigue due to MS and have tried everything - Provigil, Amantadine, Adderall, Ritalin - the works. While Provigil helped for some time while I was still working, that was many years ago and its effectiveness eventually petered out. At the time, I was taking a very large dose in accordance to doctor's orders, and my side effects (heart palpitations, increased rate of speech, crashing, etc.
405614 tn?1329144114 t altered by cutting the pill in half, so if the cost changes, it may be good to get the 200mg pills and cut them in half. It took me about two months to see a consistent improvement. Now I feel much better (on only a 50mg dose) - I don't know if it is the Provigil or if that region of my brain has healed - but I don't want to stop taking the Provigil because it took so long to feel normal! So hang in there. The good news is that it is working!
Avatar f tn it is very expensive so insurers often balk at paying for it (10-12 bucks per pill). The main problem I have had with it is that tolerance DOES develop, so it works great for the first couple months, then the sleepiness returns, at least partially. I find Vyvanse to be much more useful; it is a schedule II, not a schedule IV like Provigil or schedule III like phentermine (which also has significant tolerance).
230948 tn?1235844329 ve been unable to tolerate other medications as they made me too jumpy. On Provigil I could only tolerate a small dose (had to cut the pill down - with permission from my doc). Provigil is more expensive than Nuvigil and many insurance companies won't cover Provigil. The drug company lowered the cost of Nuvigil to get people to switch. My week long testing of Nuvigil has been fantastic. It has greatly improved my mental cognition.
572651 tn?1530999357 I was told my cost on Nuvigil and generic Provigil is the same --- 30 doses with a co-pay of $75. Enjoy your good fortune Lulu. Your insurance always seems to treat you well.
Avatar m tn t help, they try something else and only as last resort will they Rx provigil, due to cost and health issues(heart depression, etc)
1831920 tn?1320857757 I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn After getting the run around for months, my insurance company has now denied payment for Provigil. They refuse because using Provigil for MS fatigue is an "off the label" use for the medication. Any advice???
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry your insurance is giving you issues. Although I have no idea if it has anything to do with possible interactions. Sometimes it has to do with the dose (this is what happened to me with Lexapro). My doctor wanted to bump me up to 15mg from 10mg per day. Because the pill only comes in 10 or 20 mg my insurance would not cover the 45 pills monthly I would need to give me that 15mg dose per day...frustrating!
Avatar f tn I am tired, lack energy and have brain fog. My insurance won't authorize Provigil, because I don't have narcolepsy. Is there a medication that would work similarly to Provigil? I might have MS - need to do a repeat brain MRI. I would very much appreciate any feedback. Thank you!
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
1142551 tn?1264736930 I have been prescribed Provigil for my fatigue and my insurance (state assistance) will not cover the cost. I asked the pharmacy how much it would be just to buy it and he said it cost 500.00 monthly. My question is if anyone knows of a prescription assistance program or an online pharmacy that I can get this medication for a cheaper price.
Avatar f tn I considering asking to try to generic for providing next because of the cost. The nuvigil was 700.00 hundred. Makes my co pay 180.00. If provigil does work, I would sacrifice to have nuvigal, I feel that has saved my life..
1207048 tn?1282174304 There is a website called GOODRX. It considerably lowers the cost of meds. I have no insurance. My provigil costs me $80. Nuvigil is about $93. It really is a lifesaver!!! There are MANY different meds on there. It will tell you what to do and all that. The app is freaken awesome. I could never afford the meds i'm on without it. Hope this helps! Be blessed...
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
401095 tn?1351391770 Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...
