Protonix withdrawal symptoms treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix withdrawal symptoms treatment

protonix

Avatar f tn I've been on Protonix for several years, recently my dosage was upped to two 40 mg. I have nighttime reflux, never any symptoms during the day. All lifestyle changes made, bed elevation, not eating after 6:00pm, etc. etc. My doctor, whom I consider an able physician, has repeatedly assured me of the safety of the PPI class of drugs. Even said her 9 year old daughter was on Protonix.
Avatar m tn What are other strong treatment for GERD aside from taking esomeprazole and domperidone? Because I have been taken it for almost a year now and I tried to change my diet but still it come and goes.
Avatar f tn s a highly personal issue. The combination of Domperidone and Pantoprazole (Protonix) has ben pretty good for me, as has something called "Iberogast", which I got from Amazon, and which you can get from a naturopath. Acupuncture has also proven helpful, though i wasn't able to continue that route for a couple of reasons. In the end, the "magic bullet", so to speak, has been a combination of diet, exercise and medications as prescribed by a doc.
Avatar m tn gave me Protonix because I was experiencing some acid reflux...I took Protonix for 2 weeks (1 per day at 40mg) .. I have been having very bad side effects... Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this..
Avatar m tn People are different, but yes, a skipped dose does bring withdrawal symptoms for many people. Other than Prozac, ssris don't stay in the body very long, which is one of the reasons many believe Prozac has fewer withdrawal problems. That would explain the spaciness. After years of being on clonazepam, if I miss my dose by even an hour of when I regularly take it I can start feeling really weird.
Avatar n tn PTL! But do.have any of you expperience withdrawal symptoms? I am still having arthritic type pain and headaches.
Avatar n tn It took over a week for the withdrawal symptoms to disappear and I felt much better. Until this last week or so. Now my thighs (especially inner) and crotch area are achy and get that numbness feeling sometimes like I used to experience when I was 9 months pregnant. I tend to notice a bloated (constipated like) feeling at the same time as the achy thighs. Now I am wondering if I should go back to my neurologist or go back to my stomach doctor?
228936 tn?1249094248 Thanks what is PPL? I'm taking protonix.
Avatar f tn I went to see family doc and he did blood test to rule out pancreatitis (result came back normal), and put me on Protonix 40mg, once a day. I took for couple of weeks, and felt ok, so stopped, but pain would come back, so went back on it couple of days later. The bottle had 30pills, and one refill. After I took for 30days, I was off of it couple of days but again, the pain was coming back, so I went to get refill, and started taking daily.
1744581 tn?1311302411 Over time, both create physical dependency and can be very difficult to withdraw from, especially the Klon. You may be in tolerance withdrawal because all of your symptoms are signature benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms. Do not quit these drugs cold turkey. They must be tapered.
Avatar f tn There are currently no accepted protocols for the most cost-effective treatment of patients with GERD and laryngeal signs and symptoms but proton-pump inhibitor drugs, such as Protonix, appear be more effective than H2 blocker drugs and should most likely be the first line of therapy when GERD-related laryngitis is suspected.
Avatar f tn Your Doc must suspect an ulcer or nearly to prescribe protonix. Otherwise it probably would have been tigan. Protonix is a ppi (proton pump inhibitor) which shuts down some of the acid producing sites in the stomach. Good luck to you...
Avatar m tn the last year they found h pylory after an endocoscopy...they gave me the treatment with the antibiotics and tested after and they told me that i was negative of the bug...but after that i felt worse than ever...pain around my ribs..acid reflux/...lactose intolerant/.//i'm taking protonix..one in the morning cause the generics ones did not work on me..prevazid did not work..nexium did not work..aciphex did not work..only the protonix but the expensive one..i should be so lucky...
Avatar m tn I have been posting in the addiction forum because I was taking pain med for knees and began taking too much, then decided to quit. It's been a few months since I stopped the meds and I've experienced a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I've been seeking treatment with massage and chiropractic care. The pain is not subsiding at all. The chiropractor said that I don't have an injury, but fascia...itis in neck and shoulder.
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Protonix for a little longer than 1 month; 2 40mg tablets a day. Before this I never had a case of anxiety/panic attacks. After taking the Protonix for 2-3 weeks I have been having severe anxiety, to the point where if I feel any abnormality in my body, I think I have some kind of disease. I have been off the PPIs for about 3 days and have not noticed a huge difference. So has anyone had an increase in anxiety after taking a PPI?
Avatar f tn Yes, it is possible for acid reflux to cause much of the symptoms you mentioned...it is best to see a GI Dr for testing as it is possible to have similar symptoms for too little acid as well as too much, so meds for too much can make you feel worse....and there are other medical issues that could cause similar symptoms. Go for testing and let us know what you find out. Also look to your families medical history.
Avatar n tn Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
