protonix

168348 tn?1379357075 Our GI wanted to give me samples of it for Jenna since my copay went up to 100 for the Protonix and I asked him what it compared to and that is what he told me, needless to say we did not change meds since the Protonix was working fine, I didnt want to risk changing meds.
Avatar m tn my dr prescribed Protonix to me and I wondering how often does someone have dizziness from it and how long does it usually last? I haven't taken it yet due to that. Also I tried omeprazole otc and it gave me headaches. Does that mean I'm more likely to have side effects from Protonix?

Avatar f tn I am not sure I understand just what it is. How serious it is. What other complications can acurr from having it.Is it something that can recurr. Please any thing that you can tell me about h pyloric would be appreicated.
Avatar f tn I am presently having difficulties getting my health insurance to pay for it. I think it is better than Prilosec also. Good luck.
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar f tn -(. Like you 90% of my pains are when I am sitting/bending over, which is leaving me to believe it is not my heart. I feel your pain!!! Good luck you and I will keep you posted about my dr. appt today!
Avatar f tn I am 35 weeks and have been on protonix since about 8 weeks or so. It is a life saver. I would still definitely call your doctor and find out what they want you to do.
717494 tn?1230062881 Hi, Sam is right, this could be so many things. I have dealt with stomach pain for about 7 years, and it has recently gotten much worse. I understand what you're going through, and it is not fun and very frustrating. I had about the same issue as you did a few years back and the doctors put me on protonix--this caused me to not be able to eat anything because it was actually taking away my acid when what I needed was for more acid to be put in my body.
Avatar f tn Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....
231441 tn?1333892766 t had heartburn/reflux ONCE since it kicked in. It usually takes 24 to 48 hours for it to start working, but it is SO worth the wait. A few days ago, I ate pizza rather late in the evening and didn't get reflux or heartburn afterwards, if that gives you an idea of how well the stuff works. Hope you feel better!
Avatar f tn t have medicaid and yesterday my health insurance company said I must use generic of Prilosec first and if it does not work I guess my doc can request the Protonix. I really feel a difference not having the Protonix. Glad you can receive it. Thanks.
2137220 tn?1340741325 Protonix is a prescription that works great. Over the counter Zantac may also be effective.
Avatar f tn Protonix is like nexium onlyolder. It is an acid reducer (proton pump inhibitor). I also take it for acid reflux.
114870 tn?1210298346 Well if you do have an ulcer your doctor should/hopefully will run into it, and by finding where it is in the digestive tract they will be able to treat it with the best drugs for the location it's at. I've heard you'll feel worse on the treament before you feel better, but if it is an ulcer and gets treated you won't have to rely on those acid blockers anymore. Unless you live with my parents then you might have to. (j/k..sort of..

Avatar f tn Yes I do think you fit the profile for zollinger-ellison syndrome, but it is very rare. I hope you figure out what is wrong very soon and find some relief soon too.
Avatar f tn My doctor never indicated a length of time for taking it, he only listed refills on the bottle. Can I stop taking Protonix without the reflux becoming unbearable?
Avatar m tn From what I am reading protonix is the same as prilosec they r both PPI and one thing u must be careful of is if u continue to get worse on meds it can be u have too little acid in ur system and acid is needed to break down the foods u eat.Plus the symptoms r very similar. My father has been on prilosec and protonix at the same time....he did have a gall bladder issues and had it removed...still on the meds tho. Make sure u tell ur dr of ne changes in how u feel.
Avatar f tn Hello, About 2 month ago, I started having bad stomach pain, with pins anf needles sensation, and pain radiating through back. I went to see family doc and he did blood test to rule out pancreatitis (result came back normal), and put me on Protonix 40mg, once a day. I took for couple of weeks, and felt ok, so stopped, but pain would come back, so went back on it couple of days later. The bottle had 30pills, and one refill.
Avatar n tn I agree with jrbon and just want to add, I think it's unlikely you can handle the problem by simply adding a magnesium supplement, since your blood pressure has always been low. Adding magnesium could tend to make the blood pressure drop even more. Hopefully there will be other ways, besides taking Nexium, that your acid reflux symptoms can be addressed. FWIW, I was on Prilosec for years, finally had to stop because of the side effects, and now am off of it with no problems.
Avatar f tn LM is right, protonix is used to treat GERD, which is often present with thyroid issues. What thyroid problem do you have? Are you on thyroid med? If so, what med, what dose(s)? Can you post your latest thyroid blood test results, along with the reference ranges (these ranges vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report)?
Avatar m tn ve been having severe stomach pain and now my GI doctor thinks it is from the Protonix, which it probably is. His solution is to take me off of the protonix completely. He told me to go cold turkey off of it, but I am having such bad heartburn that I think I'm going to taper it. Shouldn't it be tapered anyways since going off of that much PPI would cause your stomach to over produce acid? Anyone have any ideas?
Avatar f tn I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given? I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief. My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.
