protonix

Avatar m tn t produce much acid and the endoscopy showed no physical defect in my esophagus to cause acid to come up, my question is, what could possibly be causing my sore throat?
Avatar m tn Lately I have been experiencing some acid reflux, so my doc has put me on some protonix. I have to see if gets better. Though it is not that bad (i feel some itchiness in throat)am under constant fear to have anything cold because it could get bad. I am thinking it could be some sort of allergy, has someone had similar experience? And common reasons?
2899052 tn?1436831245 Two years ago, I started with a very bad sore throat. My primary doctor gave me an antibiotic. Then my sore throat went away for three days. After that, I coughed alot and had alot of phlegm stick in my throat! I have very bad hoarseness! It wasn't easy to clear my throat so I had to drink water to clear my throat! I went to ENT doctor to check it out. He said my vocal cord (throat) is little swollen because it's from the exposure of acid and I have alot of phlegm in my throat!
Avatar f tn m 37 and I just had my tonsils and adenoids out 2 months ago and it did not help my problem. I still have a sore throat, that is dry, burns and pinches and ear pain with no infection. My ENT released me and said it has nothing to do with my tonsils and that I should go to an endocrinologist, immunologist or infectious disease dr. I have been constantly sick for years with upper respiratory, sinus infections and exhausted beyond normal, along with a constant achy sore body.
Avatar n tn Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
Avatar m tn Since taking the Protonix most of the heartburn is gone. My throat is not as sore and not feeling like I am wheezing so much but I continue to have intermittent swallowing trouble or feeling like something (food or pill) is stuck in my throat. How long does it normally take for that sensation to go away? It is really worrying me partly because of how uncomfortable it is and also because it makes me feel like I'm going to choke. I see my family doctor in two days.
1030353 tn?1262485688 Did it help when you quit taking the medicine. I have acid reflux and nothing seems to help me. I've watched my diet and took medicine and now I have a sore throat and a swollen tongue. I'm deeing a ENT now. Let me know if it helped to quit taking the medicine. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have a lump in my throat and it feels like I have something stuck in my throat. It seems to get bad out when my sinisust start to act up. What is this?
Avatar m tn gave me Protonix because I was experiencing some acid reflux...I took Protonix for 2 weeks (1 per day at 40mg) .. I have been having very bad side effects... Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this..
228936 tn?1249094248 Hi, I have some reflux problems and swallowing /throat problems that my doctor said could be from long term untreated reflux. Could this make it difficult to sing, ie, making my throat feel irritated while singing? This is a problem because I am a musician and am expected to sing sometimes.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help. The only other medication I am on is Advair for my asthma, and this has been for probably close to 15 years. In fact, after the pulmonary tests I was able to effectively lower my dosage from the 500 to the 100. So, at least that was a plus. I have tried cutting out all of the food triggers and coffee and it doesn't do anything. In fact, when I feel the chest pain it occurs all day long.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe sore throats, a bitter taste in my mouth, chest pain, and stomach pain, and occasionaly dificulty swallowing for about 5 months now. My doctor put me on prilosec otc which seemed to have helped for about a month. Then he had me try protonix . I stopped that after 4 days bacause it made me sick to my stomach. The he had me on zantac (which also didn't work), now I' m on nexium twice a day.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Protonix for 5 yrs. Originally had Bowel obstruction surgery 7 yrs. agao. Bad doctor from emergency room referral, no antibiotics before during or after. Contracted acute sepsis, jaundice then ARDS. On ventelator in coma for several weeks. Upon awakening had hole in my stomach size of a football. Several failed mesh surgeries, finally flapped and repaired by reputable nationally known surgeon. Still have adhesions requiring decompression sometim es, etc.
Avatar m tn Two weeks fter a sexualt encounter, I developed a sore throat and swollen submandibular lymph nodes. After all tests came back negative, the sore throat and swollen submandibular lymph nodes have lasted for almost 1.5 years. After multiple doctors visits, I have been diagnosed with LPR. The ENT put me on Nexium ??mg twice per day. I have been taking the Nexium for about a month now. I have a couple of questions. Are swollen submandibular lymph nodes a common symptom of LPR?
Avatar f tn It had helped my stomach acid but not my throat. So I switched to protonix but felt very very gassy in my stomach the next day.
Avatar n tn My biggest problem with my Gerd from the start is that I feel like my food gets stuck in my throat or down in my chest. When first taking The prilosec it workd after about 2 months and as i said I have been getting by with that or zantac until this past summer. I was eating pizza and suddenly thought I was dying due to the pizza not wanting to go down. Stupidly I tried treating this switching back to prilosec otc myself. It helped for awhile.

443136 tn?1210536325 Since late may of last year, I've been getting horrible acid reflux. At first it wasn't so bad. It started off with a slight burning in my throat and chest. Now I have it everyday. I even get it after drinking a few sips of water! Nothing helps. I take protonix, gaviscon, and prilosec. It helps for a little bit, but it always comes back. All I have to do is drink or eat something.
1746242 tn?1318209702 I get that and to me it feels like a tight, gripping feeling. I don't know if it related to any kind of acid reflux but I do know when I take a Zegerid in the morning it doesn't happen. The confusing thing is I have a pretty bland diet these days so it's not like I am eating super hot & spicy food. And you can be sure nothing high in fat! Zegerid is a proton pump inhibitor so it or any H2 Blocker you have in your medicine cabinet might help.
Avatar n tn Constant Need to Clear the Throat, a feeling of loose mucous around the trachea that only goes away briefly after clearing, along with occasional rattling when breathing. Another member described it well in this post: Quote "But the worst of all was and is the feeling that I have loose mucous in my trachea. This feeling is there when I breathe in and out.It feels like a rattle but there is no sound." http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn The best way I can describe it is that I have a need to burp constantly, and food always comes up with burping to the back of my throat, and I am able to swallow again. Most often, the regurgitation is non-acidic (more like vomit). I have been on different PPI drugs (Omeprezole, Dexilant, and Protonix). I am currently taking Protonix 40mg twice daily (morning and night) 30 minutes before meals.
Avatar m tn While waiting to get in I continued to get worse. Heartburn, throat feels like its on fire, chest pain, acid taste, indigestion, back pain, burping, acid coming up every time I burp. Finally got in to the gastro dr. He put me on protonix, and scheduled me for an EGD and Gastric Emptying Test. Both came back fine, but still feel horrible. Surgeons question if it could be anxiety? I really don't think so. Went back to the gastro today to follow up.
Avatar f tn Saw ENT, flexible scope up my nose foind vocal cords, larynx and cartlidge in my throat were swollen and airway was comprised.iv steroids, flovent 220 and breathing treatments. The ENT said GERD. I have been on protonix My GI says it is not GERD. ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments.
Avatar m tn 9 months...I'm finally throwing it out to the internet. In June 2020 I got a bout of laryngitis. I continued on for 10 days w/ progressing neck pain radiating up to my temple on right side. Sent for Covid test (neg). Worsened and went to ER. Xrays and CTs showed slight protrusion of C4&5 and C6&7, but otherwise - normal. CBCs normal. SedRate/Inflammation marker - normal. I am female, 5'8 140, overall good health. In the last 9 months, ENT for laryrngoscopy -> clear.
Avatar m tn It started last December 2013 around Christmas and has since progressed to include sore throat, NO TROUBLE SWALLOWING, NO HEARTBURN, NO HOARSENESS OF VOICE. Then today, after 1 month of throat tightness and sore throat, I went to see an ENT dr, he scoped my nose and throat and said there was swelling and redness, after knowing about my reflux esophagitis, he told me it was LPR. Now I am confused, how come the LPR is only starting now and not 2 months ago together with my reflux esophagitis?
Avatar f tn Anybody on here taking protonix for acid reflux. Since I started my third trimester I've been having the worst acid reflux/gas EVER! I can't sleep, I can't eat. The third trimester seems to be worst for me than the last two. Was thinking about taking some protonix that I have from my job but I read its a class B drug with no proven side effects to baby.
