Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar m tn I know they wont make you go blind, but I have vision issues, like a haze over my vision thats been there for a couple years, and I just found that one of the side affect to protonix PPI was vision changes, which I coudnt find a descritoiion of what happens, so I need to find out what kind o vision changes happen in that side affect, so I can see if it matches wahts wrong with my eyes.
Avatar f tn After being on Protonix 40 mg. for 1 month plus taking 1-1/2 mg. Lorazapam a day it began to affect my saliva flow. I lost ten pounds in one month because I did not have enough saliva flow to break down alot of different foods. I am now eating very healthy but found out that between the Protonix and Lorazapam they both have done a job on my mouth. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to discontinue the Lorazapm under my doctor's care and I have not taken Protonix for 7 days.
Avatar m tn ve been having severe stomach pain and now my GI doctor thinks it is from the Protonix, which it probably is. His solution is to take me off of the protonix completely. He told me to go cold turkey off of it, but I am having such bad heartburn that I think I'm going to taper it. Shouldn't it be tapered anyways since going off of that much PPI would cause your stomach to over produce acid? Anyone have any ideas?
709686 tn?1277432159 s over the past few years and notice that I react harshly to even the smallest amouts. Protonix seems to be the only thing that does not cause me problems. Another side effect I have is my hands hurt BADLY when I wake up in the morning. Can someone please respond with an answer....I'm really freaking out. Life cannot be this bad.
Avatar m tn m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
Avatar f tn So for awhile I've had these warm flashes around my stomach & lower abdominal area. They came & went about 2 times before this. Initially everyone thought it was anxiety or my GERD. Well about a week ago after overeating the warm pains came back. I was trying to manage it with maalox, tums & protonix. Around the 3rd day I started getting flank & thigh pains on my right side then it switched to my left side. I tried applying ice to it but it burnt like crazy.
Avatar m tn In the past I was able to control the symptoms assuming Carafate and 20mg of Prilosec or Protonix for certain periods time to time, which helped without causing any significant side effetcs. After some time both medicines started causing bad stomach cramps. I have had a reflux flare up for 5 months now causing me a mild esophageal inflamation.
Avatar m tn my dr prescribed Protonix to me and I wondering how often does someone have dizziness from it and how long does it usually last? I haven't taken it yet due to that. Also I tried omeprazole otc and it gave me headaches. Does that mean I'm more likely to have side effects from Protonix?
Avatar f tn t had before. My hand actually shook and had major spasms for a few seconds. Is this a side affect of the Hydroxyzine or the Vagus nerve being irritated? I'm so confused and don't know what I should be doing. Would you recommend trying the Hydroxyzine again? Or do you have any recommendations on how to calm the Vagus nerve without it? I read random tricks involving breathing, but I don't want to make anything worse with the hernia.
Avatar n tn She was prescribed 40mg of Protonix once a day. She has been taking this medication for one week, and has been experiencing dizziness and nausea. She weighs about 120 lbs. I looked online, and it appears that these are side effects that some patients experience. My question is: would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar n tn Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
Avatar n tn Since his heart attack and stent, his heartburn/reflux has become much more frequent and severe. His doctor prescribed Protonix 40 mg once a day, but he still has to take antacids throughout the day to try to control it. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve it?
177337 tn?1310059899 I'm throwing this one out there. I have been taking Protonix for 7 months. Could this possibly be what is increasing my pvc's? Brook do you know of any side effects from this drug relating to heart issues? I can't find any but I'm sure if I look hard enough.............
Avatar n tn I just looked up online to see if I could find out what's wrong with me, because I've had the same sharp pains in the same area. I've had them before, but they normally went away. They also range from my right or my left side. But this time, it's on my left side and it's staying longer then it normally does. I can't stretch or it kills. I have no idea what it is. I don't chew, drink, or do anything you'd think would cause pain. I'm a 22 year old female...
Avatar m tn Thanks for the update. I am delighted to hear that your pain has decreased. Wonderful!! I hope you'll continue to improve. I want to share what your post did for me. When I was researching Protonix and was reminded of it's side effects (I'd forgotten) it hit home. For some months I have been having those symptoms and several others that are progressing. All lab work that may explain the symptoms have returned normal. However I've taken Prilosec (Omeprazole) for many years.
Avatar n tn Hi, probably it is cervical spondylosis. “Cervical spondylosis results from chronic degeneration of the cervical spine including the cushions between the neck vertebrae (cervical disks) and joints between the bones of the cervical spine. There may be abnormal growths or "spurs" on the vertebrae (the bones of the spine). These accumulated changes caused by degeneration can gradually compress one or more of the nerve roots.
