Avatar m tn I ran into a Protonix discount program that is supposed to work over your phone by texting PRO. Has any one used this program or one like it? I looked into places on this forum but could not find if there was a better place for this question so I apologize if I am in the wrong section. I currently use protonix and if I can save money on my prescription that would be great. Thanks for your insight.
Avatar f tn Before getting pregnant with my daughter, i was on protonix off and on two years. I didn't have heartburn at all with my daughters pregnancy, but now pregnant with my son, i have so many digestive issues. I have been on Protonix again for almost a month and it helps but not 100%. I don't know what else to do, i also had an ejection fraction of 22% for my Gallbladder back in 2011. Will these problems go away after i deliver my son? Or will the problems persist?
Avatar f tn I have used Protonix and it helped me tremendously, much better than Nexium. I am presently having difficulties getting my health insurance to pay for it. I think it is better than Prilosec also. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I take the synthyroid (complete thyroidectomy Dec 2008) and coumadin (DVT) at the same time and then 1 1/2 hrs later, I take topamax (migraine) and protonix (GERD). Is this enough time between each?
2899052 tn?1436831245 It gave me very painful headaches as side effects and I stopped taking them. Then he gave me different pills called Protonix (PPI) medication. One year later, the symptoms haven’t gone away. I still have bad hoarseness and the phlem or saliva sticks in my throat! It worried me so I had to go to a new ENT doctor. She said my right vocal cord is little sluggish. She suggested I go to throat specialist, I went there, he checked it out, he said I have scar on my left side of my vocal cord!
Avatar m tn I called it a poisoning because she was IVed with Protonix twice even though her drs knew she was allergic.Allergic reactions to Protonix are many and are 99 times out of 100 diagnosed as something else.Unfortunately a certain number of patients will experience severe reactions to Protonix such as pancreatitis. That is why Altana, the German company who developed Protonix made Wyeth set aside monies to cover such reactions before they sold the patent to Wyeth.
681148 tn?1437661591 I recently had to start using a PPI because it was discovered that I have gastritis flares in my stomach. I've had problems with Prilosec and Nexium in the past, so my PCP prescribed Protonix. I mentioned that I wanted to only use it temporarily, since I know long-term PPI use isn't a good idea, as it can cause problems such as malabsorption. It has been some time since I've used a PPI, so I don't remember if this was an issue when I first started using the medication or not..
Avatar m tn m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are exercises, but it will be difficult for me to explain here. Initially anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxant drugs will help. Protonix (pantoprazole) is used to treat erosive esophagitis and other conditions involving excess stomach acid. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex. Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?
Avatar m tn Hospice care started this week. Protonix given daily - is it needed? Asymptomatic and no hx of gastric reflux.
Avatar f tn A year ago I started having chest pain and hard to breath episodes out of the blue. I thought it was my asthma, although medication didn't help. I went to my PCP and they thought it was reflux, even though I don't notice heartburn. I was sent to a GI and scoped, stating esophagitis and small hiatal hernia. I was placed on Protonix once a day. I felt better, so went off, only to have a year of on and off again chest pain/breathing issues and on/off PPI medication.
Avatar f tn At the end of September, after having an endoscopy performed, I was Dx with severe Gastritis and given a new Rx for Protonix to be taken twice a day for 6 months which meant 60 pills/month. Being that Prilosec and Protonix are in the same drug class my insurance company has stated that I've hit my 90 tablet/90 day limit. The Protonix has finally helped with the pain and discomfort I've been having and now my insurance company won't cover it.
Avatar n tn old and have tried all the different perscription medications. I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr. say's it does show some inflammation but no Barrett's Desease, thank God.
Avatar f tn After being on Protonix 40 mg. for 1 month plus taking 1-1/2 mg. Lorazapam a day it began to affect my saliva flow. I lost ten pounds in one month because I did not have enough saliva flow to break down alot of different foods. I am now eating very healthy but found out that between the Protonix and Lorazapam they both have done a job on my mouth. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to discontinue the Lorazapm under my doctor's care and I have not taken Protonix for 7 days.
Avatar m tn I have been posting in the addiction forum because I was taking pain med for knees and began taking too much, then decided to quit. It's been a few months since I stopped the meds and I've experienced a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I've been seeking treatment with massage and chiropractic care. The pain is not subsiding at all. The chiropractor said that I don't have an injury, but fascia...itis in neck and shoulder.
Avatar n tn Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
1387175 tn?1326400997 H2 blockers (ex. Zantec or Pepcid) are another type of medication used to treat GERD. PPI's (ex. Prilosec, Prevacid, Dexilant, Nexium, Protonix) are another class of medications used to treat GERD. H2 blockers are generally thought to be safer with less adverse reactions than PPI's.
Avatar f tn LM is right, protonix is used to treat GERD, which is often present with thyroid issues. What thyroid problem do you have? Are you on thyroid med? If so, what med, what dose(s)? Can you post your latest thyroid blood test results, along with the reference ranges (these ranges vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report)?
Avatar n tn Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.
Avatar f tn Have anyone else taking medication while pregnant? My doctor just prescribed me Prilosec for my heartburn. Has anyone else taken this? Im just a little worried to take medication while pregnant .
Avatar m tn I am wondering if one of these medications can be driving this train since the correlation is there. My provider recently switched me to Protonix instead since he is not sure also. I have had some upper abdominal pressure and discomfort and was concerned for pancreatitis due to the Triglyceride levels. Thanks ahead for any input.
Avatar m tn In my August exam by my own gastroenterologist, after no symptoms whatsoever and the negative articles published about long term usage of Protontix, I was advised to decrease the Protonix to just 40 mg. once a day for about a month and then change to an over-the-counter medication, like Prilosec or Zantac for about 6 months. After a month without symtoms, even though the medication was decreased I am unsure which medication, of the over-the-counter choices to chage to.
Avatar f tn I used to experience the same thing before I had surgery, sometimes balsalmic vinegar would seem to help. I knew that vinegar is slightly acidic, so I brought it up with my doc. He thinks that because stomach acid is so strong, the slightly acidic acid dilutes it. That being said, I'm curious why water didn't help. Was it very cold water you drank? I used to have trouble with that for whatever reason. How you take Protonix or related blockers is very, very important.
