I have LPR- had it since 1997- it is horrible- took forever to diagnose since I rarely get any heartburn- I have waht is called cyclical vomiting- when i am in the cycle anything I eat makes me cough and vomit and vomit violently- for days or weeks- sometimes even on awakening- always clearing my throat- NONE of the gastro- tests showed reflux- I have been on meds for years- was on twice the max daily dose of nexium for yrs but new ins wont pay so now on protonix twice max daily dose- was on reg
Typical dose is 25-50mg every 4-6 hours with a max dose of no more than 300mg in 24 hr period. Regarding Protonix, long-term treatment may make it harder for your body to absorb vitamin B-12, resulting in a deficiency of this vitamin.
I have been taking protonix for four years now, and have loved how well it works! However, if there is ever a time where I forget my protonix such as leaving it behind on a vacation, within 3-5 days, I find myself in serious stomach pain, or in some instances even puking. I don't know if it's 'normal' but you're definitely not the only person having these problems! Hope you feel better once taking the pills again.
They now have me back on the max dose of both Asocal and Protonics. I am open to alternative medicine.
They help a bit but I'm still getting almost constant asthma symptoms (on max dose of advair), nausea, coughing and clogged nose/ears after eating and bloating. The only thing that works is not eating, doesn't matter if I stay away from the foods that are bad for GERD, any food seems to give me symptoms. And I should be increasing my food intake because I've lost 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks and only 90ib to begin with. Any tips?
Hi. I am on citalopram or cipramil. I take 30 mg daily ( 1 & 1/2 tabs ) The usual starting dose is 20 mg and the maximum is 60 mg I believe. Without the AD I find myself "not quite right :P " I get no sx from it but I did find that after 8 weeks of pegasys tx and 20 mg of citalopram daily I was still a bit weepy and prone to flying off the handle occasionally at my kids.
My dr finally told me to take Zantac (or the generic) 1 time a day, then let me go up to the max version. I finally found help in getting the one w/the smaller dose and taking one in the morn and one at night....it did the trick!!
I have LPR- had it since 1997- i have no heartburn, no trouble swallowing- I just get cycles of coughing and violently vomiting after eating- even bland foods- mucous gets in my throat and that comes up too- when I am not in a cycle I can eat ANYTHING i want like hot sauce and not cough or vomit- can be stress related- cyclical vomiting is what my ent calls it- i wasnt heavy when it started I was 26 and about 130 lbs- I have to take protonix twice daily( double max dose)it is horrible- i would s
http://www.rxlist.com/protonix-drug/indications-dosage.htm Erosive esophagitis due to gerd, it should be solved in a max of 16 weeks. If you only take it for that period, then I do not think that there is any issue. If you plan to take it for years, them I suggest to get yearly blood test for Vit. B12, Calcium and Magnesium.
I don't feel hungry and when I eat it feels like there is no room. Zantac and Maalox Max haven't helped at all. I also suffer from panic disorder and had an attack yesterday caused by a feeling as if a huge air bubble blocked my breathing for a couple of seconds while I was eating.
And I certainly would worry if I was on such a low dose. They also put me on protonix for the acid reflux. I would be a spokes person for that stuff, check into that too! Keep me posted, feel better, and thank you!!
it was causing awful acid reflux and now that it is gone not one dose of Prevacid ..long story with great ending after 8days at Medical Center .. Otherwise my 15yr old still gets reflux now and again but asthma is 90% better since using Prevacid which has controlled her asthma micro-aspiration and vocal cord nodules fully GONE since Prevacid ... my 10yr old gets it with illness and now possible food allergies which we are looking into! Allergies, reflux, GERD, health issues .. so much ...
ALL labs have been normal the SIX times they have been checked throughout this recent illness. What helps my symptoms? Protonix, Zofran and Benzil. IV fluids helped the constant headache I had for 2 weeks. I still feel like I am slightly dehydrated even though I have been pushing fluids like crazy. I am of course eating a bland diet high in fiber. Drinking plenty of fluids (ie: water, vitamin water, powerade).
I'm sure it would have been quite different if I hadn't had the lidocaine though. They must have given me a really good dose of the lidocaine too, or it was a combination of that and the numbing agent that is in the steroid injection intself - because the entire front of my thigh and my hip was numb for about 4 hours afterward - which was actually great. Oh yeah - I thought it was great UNTIL the lidocaine started to wear off!!
I have tried prilosec (omeprazole) but to me it is very slow. Usually you will see max results by the end of the month. I personnally like prevacid and nexium (30mg) . They are fast and help repair any erosion in the esophagus. They are the same as prilosec but are more expensive and are sold with prescription only but they are worth it. They too have to be taken for 15 -28 days. Just be patient and remember that nervousness , anxiety and stress increase gastro problems.
Then I was given Vancomycin in the dose of 125 mg a day. This did not work so I was given 500 mg a day. Three months down the road, I still have pain in the upper left quadrant, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Cannot eat or drink. I have been in and out of the hospital about four times this year. Mostly for dehydration. I lost seventy-one pounds in less than three months. Last week in the hospital, I had all kinds of tests. They did not really find much.
Just got back from my GI appt. AST: 42 ALT: 32 I get to drop to 5mg Pred today and I'll recheck LFT's in 2 wks. He said at that point, if all is normal, I'll drop to 2.5mg for 10 days and recheck one more time.....then I'll be off it finally! Jody, my GI mentioned today that some people have to stay on a low 'maintanence' dose of prednisone, like 2.5mg, but he didn't say if that was a permanent thing.
Told to start out on a very small dose (1/8 of a mg) as I am very sensitive to all drugs. All this seemed to do was give me more anxiety and heart palpatations and faster heart beat. Called my psych to tell her what happened with that drug and she has not returned my calls. So I feel completely uncompelled to up the dosage to 1/4 mg. Psychiatrists are so flakey! Or at least mine is. She completely missed the 2nd appointment that we had scheduled.
I just started some amoxicillan for strep throat and am wondering if I am not having an extra dose of urticaria as a reaction to the medication. I have never had drug allergies in the past, but havent been on high doses of antibiotics sense I have developed CIU. I am currently uninsured. As SOON as I do get medical insurance I am going to an immunologist/allergist to make sure its not some strange allergy and try to get on the immunosuppressant drugs to help the hives....
Natrol is the only company that makes it in such a high dose. The BMS It doesn't go away on that, but it makes it so you don't really think about it and can eat most things again. I also had sores, but they got much better when I started on a Protonic Pump (antacid like Protonix or Nexium), and only come back when my sinuses are irritated or my GERD is acting up, so acid/mucous are irritating my tongue. In other words, they aren't the BMS.
The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day).Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Do you have to wait long for the results? Usually get mine back in about 48hrs, max. My Dr. is soooooo cool - he will call me afterhours just to let me know the results of my labs and how to change my meds., rather than have his nurse call the next day. I don't know if you do it or not, but it is a good idea to make sure that the Dr. sends you a copy of ALL of your labs. Then ;you can see for yourself and not have to rely on what they are telling you.
Then Planned Parenthood changed me to Ortho tri cyclen lo after 5 years which screwed me up wicked.. Had spotting every week when I transitioned from dose level to dose level... Terrible... They just told me to "give it time" finally I had to stop using it and went on Levlen which is a monophasic pill.. Loved it! No spotting or anything.. then... after 3 years.... I recently developed massive anxiety all of a sudden....
have been told many things am on qvar inhalor have tried nexium protonix and anxiety drugs. i KNOW its not anxiety but can cause it especially initially because it is so unusual and disruptive. I do have hypothyroidism but experienced this before i got it. the one thing i notice is that i started to develope it when i started gaining weight. i was also heavier in the third grade. my eyes usually water when the yawning gets bad. i notice it even more when i eat and at night.
Neddypoo put it pretty well. I get the same symptoms when I am "A Fibbin". In addition to the stomach bloating and upper GI gas, my asthma kicks in. I often need to take my metered dose inhalor when I am "A Fibbn". However, I will say that I am not entirely sure these symptom, which are certainly related, are not present after the A Fib event. I am not sure whether the A/Fib is causing the gas/bloating and the asthma attack or the other way around.
