but is it the same for iron rich foods? Would the stomach also block iron and other nutrients you get from food since it blocks supplements as well? If so, how can I take the acid reflux meds but still get the nutrients my body needs?

Do we know what role iron levels or supplementation might play? My serum iron was a little low (10 ng/mL)... maybe my body was putting that iron in my brain? ;) Or not. s I hae had my electrolytes checked(low iron level) my thyroid is good, my stress test was negative. I work on a cardiac floor as a nurse and placed my self on a monitor and had pvc's on the monitor. So my iron levels were low 2 weeks ago when I went to the doctor. Suprising everything else was ok even though I hadnt ate in two days only water and my prenatals. The first two days I took my iron pills and had forgot til now. How will that affect my baby if I just start back taking them now?

What does that mean if my iron is low.? The doctor sed it should b at least a 12 but its t a 11.2 .. what can happen to my baby ?

t OD the baby no worries , my iron has always been low but even with my 1st son and now this pregnancy i have had extremely low iron , but my doctor told me to take vitamin D3 2000mg .. but all you gotta do is take one a day so like in the am and what not .. As long as I remember u shouldn't drink coffee as it kills iron don't remember much more. I'm sure u will be fine Ur iron it's just prabobly low it's doesn't make u an anemic. I had love iron at the start of pregnancy if it would be bad Ur doc would give u iron tablets... unless u can't take them when u that far.... good luck !!

With my first I took supplements but with this one it was so low they gave me an iron infusion in hospital and that supposedly only takes a couple of days to kick in. What has your dr suggested?

I was diagnosed with low iron/anemia and the Dr just prescribed me daily iron pills and they help level my iron at its correct rate, that's all they gave me hope I helped :)

Iron or haemoglobin is what carries oxygen in our blood. Low iron = low energy levels = tiredness during labour. PLUS you bleed after delivering (no avoiding that) so if your iron levels are low your chances of being tired while looking after a newborn are increased.

At my last appt my doc said I had low iron. She said she wanted me on iron supplement pills (1 a day). I don't know what my levels were though. She also suggested taking them with orange juice because it helps the body absorb it more.

So I was taking iron pills cause my iron level was low but not bad low , I stopped taking my iron pills cause I would forget , I asked my Dr if I need an iron drip while going into labor and she said not really cause my iron levels were not that low . I'm just scared cause I stopped taking my pills and my due date is today , I don't want anything bad to happen . Anybody else had the same problem or know anything?

I have low iron like you, i used Floradix and found it brought my levels up really well, it is natural and doesnt give you nausea. It is a liquid and doesnt taste too bad. Hope that helps.

It is extremely common. Do take the iron and eat more iron rich foods. The risk with low iron is fatigue and needed a blood transfusion.
