Protonix long term use

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix long term use

protonix

Avatar n tn The meds u r asking about also known as protonix used for acid reflux and GERD.....will have side effects on some individuals. To know or understand what long term use could cause symptoms wise, ask ur pharmacist or dr. Since we all respond to meds differently it is very diff to say what long term use might do to u..... I am sure ur dr is watching ur blood levels and keeping a close eye on ur overall health and would suggest a diff med if he felt continued use would cause u harm.
Avatar m tn I am a woman in her late 30's. I have been taking omeprazole for 2 years now. I was instructed to take it by a ENT doctor for healing of my esophagus due to acid erosion(scarring) caused by silent reflux. (Diagnosed via endoscopy) I have noticed a decrease in hunger, lack of "growling" of the stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? Is long term use of omeprazole really safe?
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had heartburn and stomach problems for over 30 years. I'm 67 yrs.old and have tried all the different perscription medications. I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr.
Avatar f tn Hello, I had an upper endescopy done and abdominal ultrasound due to some stomach pain I was experiencing. The ultrasound came back normal and my upper endescopy showed Grade A Reflux and Gastritis. The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work?
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.

Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
Avatar m tn Dear whoever may know, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder 2 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking Lexapro at 10 mg per day ever since. The medicine has really seemed to have helped my life in all aspects. Whether it has really helped or if this is some kind of placebo effect, I am unsure. I still have moments of reasonable stress at work, but who doesn't...most importantly, I don't have panic attacks anymore.
Avatar f tn Hiatel hernia, GERD Acid Reflux and Larynix tumors are some of my long term problems now. Both from losing some of stomache, Esophageal damage and throat damage, from intubing along with lung damage from ARDS. I am now high maintainence. My Part D plan only allows certain generics during donut hole. My husband is also on a transplant list. Medical costs for us both are extensive. We do not qualify for any help since we always worked and saved for retirement. That nest egg has all but gone. Q.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if long term protonix use has been linked to joint and muscle pain as well as hearing loss. I have been taking proton pump inhibitors for 18 years and have just begun hearing about bone loss and other issues. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after finally seeing a doctor about the pain that I have endured for over 10 years.
177337 tn?1310059899 m worried about going off because it really did help. I used to use Gaviscon but it stopped working. I have been on Protonix for quite a while so maybe I will stop and see if I can have luck with Gaviscon and Tums again. Did the pvc's stop right away as soon as you went off it? WIsconsin2007 - I don't see any literature with palps as a side effect either and my cardio gave them to me and told me it wouldn't bother my heart. But I have to wonder....
