Someone else told me maybe from Tylenol, so I switched back to advil (when I get headaches) and I still got hives. Could not match the hives to times I took either Advil or Tylenol, or when I was menstruating or not. This past month, got period twice and hives twice, second one worse than the first. Benadryl allowed me to sleep but hives still there. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it is tied to my hormones - I am 52 years old. What can I do?
First off I'm having trouble swallowing, saliva only swallowing water and food seem to go down fine but saliva seems to travel slowly or get stuck or something. It feels like the bones in my throat are all wrong, I really don't like this feeling, it's extremely uncomfortable. But my biggest problem is just recently as I was lying down to sleep, I realized I wasn't breathing and that breathing had become difficult, well not really difficult..
old and have tried all the different perscription medications. I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr. say's it does show some inflammation but no Barrett's Desease, thank God.

My PCP at the time shrugged their shoulders and said "maybe allergies?" I went to an allergist and was tested for environmental allergies and it was all negative. He ran an autoimmune panel and bingo... anti-thyroid antibodies were high! Diagnosed me with autoimmune hives and told me to go see an endo ASAP.
Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
THE ITCH I HAVE NOW IS NOT AS INTENSE AS THE 2-3 MINUTES OF ITCHING I WAS GETTING IN WINTER BUT STILL THE FACT THAT IT IS A CONSTANT ITCH IS BOTHERING ME. im taking protonix for acid reflux at hydroxizine for itch. protonix cycle is almost finished and anti itch im not gonna take anymore as it makes me extra drowsy and doesnt really relieve itch or burning.
I have been diagnosed with Gerd and took Nexium 40 for 3 months with no relief and hives and acne as side effects. Now, I have been having dizzy and lightheaded spells, shortness of breath, with pain from my shoulders down through both of my arms. On the back of an acid reducer otc medication, it says that these symptoms may be a sign of a more serious condition, but I cannot find out what that condition can be.
I called it a poisoning because she was IVed with Protonix twice even though her drs knew she was allergic.Allergic reactions to Protonix are many and are 99 times out of 100 diagnosed as something else.Unfortunately a certain number of patients will experience severe reactions to Protonix such as pancreatitis.That is why Altana,the German company who developed Protonix made Wyeth set aside monies to cover such reactions before they sold the patent to Wyeth.
Then when I went to my doctor Thursday, she switched me to Protonix. If they are basically the same, could Protonix work for me if Prilosec OTC didn't? I'd really like to know because I've had this problem for almost 3 months now and I'm tired of eating plain food.
I went to see family doc and he did blood test to rule out pancreatitis (result came back normal), and put me on Protonix 40mg, once a day. I took for couple of weeks, and felt ok, so stopped, but pain would come back, so went back on it couple of days later. The bottle had 30pills, and one refill. After I took for 30days, I was off of it couple of days but again, the pain was coming back, so I went to get refill, and started taking daily.

On ventelator in coma for several weeks. Upon awakening had hole in my stomach size of a football. Several failed mesh surgeries, finally flapped and repaired by reputable nationally known surgeon. Still have adhesions requiring decompression sometim es, etc.
gave me Protonix because I was experiencing some acid reflux...I took Protonix for 2 weeks (1 per day at 40mg) .. I have been having very bad side effects... Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this..
Went to hospital a month ago for bleeding ulcers of the esophagus, and was given bags full of Protonix, IV for a week. Was sent home taking 40mg 2 X a day. Had microalbumin well over 400 when I had labs done for checkup. So Dr. ordered a kidney ultrasound and a nodule was found in my right kidney. I've seen several law suits about Protonix causing kidney failure!
I have posted in the pain management forum, but not in this one yet. I've been having bad neck and shoulder and shoulder blade pain on the right side for a few months. I have been taking Protonix since May, 40mgs once every evening. Because I'm not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit.
my dr prescribed Protonix to me and I wondering how often does someone have dizziness from it and how long does it usually last? I haven't taken it yet due to that. Also I tried omeprazole otc and it gave me headaches. Does that mean I'm more likely to have side effects from Protonix?
ve been having severe stomach pain and now my GI doctor thinks it is from the Protonix, which it probably is. His solution is to take me off of the protonix completely. He told me to go cold turkey off of it, but I am having such bad heartburn that I think I'm going to taper it. Shouldn't it be tapered anyways since going off of that much PPI would cause your stomach to over produce acid? Anyone have any ideas?
Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
I have been taking Protonix for a little longer than 1 month; 2 40mg tablets a day. Before this I never had a case of anxiety/panic attacks. After taking the Protonix for 2-3 weeks I have been having severe anxiety, to the point where if I feel any abnormality in my body, I think I have some kind of disease.
I have been off the PPIs for about 3 days and have not noticed a huge difference.
So has anyone had an increase in anxiety after taking a PPI?
why would my doctor perscribe protonix to me when it is for bloodpressure? i have a thyroid problem....
