How long can this take sometimes. what else can i rule out? Why could I be making to much stomach acid???? Please help its been three weeks a 2 days.
Avatar n tn She was prescribed 40mg of Protonix once a day. She has been taking this medication for one week, and has been experiencing dizziness and nausea. She weighs about 120 lbs. I looked online, and it appears that these are side effects that some patients experience. My question is: would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
1580703 tn?1651904887 The hernia/ diabetes are unlikely to be responsible for the nausea. While GERD could cause nausea, nausea itself is a very non-specific symptom and could result from GI infection/ inflammation, micronutrient deficiencies, GI motility issues, o non-GI causes such as stress/ anxiety, hormonal/ endocrine imbalances, metabolic issues, micronutrient deficiencies, medication side effect etc.
Avatar f tn About a year ago I was experiencing heartburn, I was diagnose with H.pylori, I was given antibiotics, protonix, I was given protonix for 3 months only, as soon as I stopped taking the protonix, heartburn return. I had an egd done which was negative for H.pylori, now I am experiencing nausea after I eat, maybe 3 times a week, when I experience nausea it usually ruins the rest of my day, I am not taking anything for nausea.
Avatar n tn I wonder why there is no catagory for nausea in the doctors forums. I am nauseated 24/7 and have been to my doctor and am currently going to a gastroenterologist for the last 10 years or so. I have had plenty of scopes and they usually find and get rid of polyps every time. I am on protonix for my acid reflux but it doesnt help my nausea.
Avatar m tn Currently, I am taking Protonix in the am and pm for heartburn problems that I have had for about 3 years (Dr thinks that it was likely GURD related symptoms). Recently replaced Protonix with Dexilant in the pm. Any advice would be great.
Avatar f tn I called the specialist and she told me to try twice a day 40 mg Protonix. I have been on this for a week now. My stomach pain has greatly increased on the right side under my rib to the point where I cannot get out of bed I hurts to move and I cannot get a deep breathe without pain. I get pain above my belly button below my ribs where I cannot fully extend my abdomen and have to stay crunched in a ball and it hurts to fully exhale.
Avatar n tn old and have tried all the different perscription medications. I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr. say's it does show some inflammation but no Barrett's Desease, thank God.
Avatar m tn m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
Avatar m tn Im a 20 year old male... I have had acid reflux like symptoms for past 5 months. I have had it before 2 years ago but it went away. Im back on the PPI protonix as it flared up again. this time it is different as i am finding blood in stool, my stomach is really bloated and i also have a hard spot in the middle of my stomach above my belly button. The protonix is not working as well as it did 2 years ago. I am slightly anemic but doctor said i was born with it and it is not significant.
Avatar m tn gave me Protonix because I was experiencing some acid reflux...I took Protonix for 2 weeks (1 per day at 40mg) .. I have been having very bad side effects... Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this..
268911 tn?1213744781 My stomach will also start to feel weird...not pain,,,not nausea..but somewhere in the middle. So now, I eat about 30 minutes after I take it, and I am fine. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn ve also been having terrible heartburn, nausea and vomiting for about the past month. My liver enzymes are elevated, an ultrasound came back negative for gall stones. My HIDA scan showed an EF of 96%. Is there anything i can do to stop the pain and nausea. It happens every time i eat and it doesn't matter what i eat either i've changed my diet to low fat small meals but the pain is still there.
Avatar f tn Ok, my nausea meds are just not working, don't want to show up again in ER, realize the pills are not as effective a the IV form, any suggestions? I've had protonix, zofran and am holding out on the phenergen until bedtime as it will kick butt If that doesn't work, am clueless know that nausea meds calm stomach so I can eat and if I don't, stomach acid multiplies........egads.........knock me out for a week!
Avatar m tn p.s. Ativan should be carefully taken though so I would ask your doctor about it. And I take it for anxiety, not nausea. But I've noticed that they use it for nausea too. I just don't know for temporary use or long term use and I would hate for you to become addicted to the stuff so yeah I would check with your doctor if interested in ativan.
Avatar n tn ikeep having these sharp pains right around the lower part and upper part of my belly button also on my left side i was tested positive for stool in my blood still seeing dark spots in my stool nausea still there taking zofran for nausea and protonix for the abdominal discomfort doesnt seem to help a whole lot had a ct scan and everything came back normal im going to a specialist for a upper and lower endoscopy any advise whats bothering me
Avatar m tn Was diagnosed with delayed gastric emptying and given Protonix. I have had 2 pyloric dilatations but I still have pain in the upper abdominal and chest areas behind the sternum. The regurgitation is better. GI and cardiology cleared me for any overt issues, but I'm having abdominal and chest pain, nausea and vertigo that starts with a strange wave or flushing in my belly and travels upward. It gets really nauseous and I can hear my heart pulsating in my ears. The vertigo is the worst.
Avatar f tn I don't know when I'll get to see a doctor since I don't want to push for that since my mom knows about this nausea (so she'll take me if she thinks I need to go), but I will try to keep that in mind.
Avatar f tn Looking to get pointed in the right direction here. I have constant nausea (all day everyday). Stomach feels full of liquid all the time (I can hear it slushing around). Bloated feeling in stomach and intestines. Recurring tenderness in ascending colon area. Headaches and what seems to feel like dry or tired eyes. Had an abdominal ultrasound and results are a mild fatty liver. I have high cholesterol. Had upper endoscopy and diagnosed with gastritis but I don't get heartburn or sore throat.
Avatar m tn I took Nexium 20mg for 11 days and had to stop because of its severe side effects. Then I took Protonix 20mg for 13 days and had to stop because of severe burning in my mouth, chest and tongue. I tried taking Riopan and Gaviscon in December and January without success because they caused a nausea and a burning tongue. Then I had one pill of Zantac 75mg and I suffered hard from abdominal cramps for one day and a burning tongue for 7! Etc..etc...
221913 tn?1372276661 Please, please, please.....TRY apricot nectar!!! My sister live's on it (me too some days!) but she's been in chemo on/off for years. Of all the drugs they give her, and she's had them ALL...that helps a LOT! It REALLY helps with nausea, better then gingerale for me. I've used it for years for nausea. (she also does use 'pot'! That helps her more than the outragously expensive pill's! I don't like smoking it tho, it's a personal choice.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with GERD because I have heartburn and I often regurgitate. However, for the past month I have felt like something is stuck in my throat and I am getting nausea every single night. It is so incredibly frustrating. I'm good for most of the day, and then 6-7pm hits and I get nausea. I have to lay down. The only thing that helps is going to sleep. I am on Nexium and it has done nothing. I still feel the same. Doc just told me to try Prilosec OTC so I started that today.
Avatar f tn I think most IBS sufferers go through these things. I take Pepto Bismol for nausea . If you feel neausiated from stress...it is best you talk with a doctor to see if there is anything he can help you with as far as your stressors. Ask yourself..what have you done for YOU lately? Hvae you ..picked your priorities?...ie: what you are to worry about and what to let go? do you excercise? meditate? Bring in things that make yourself peaceful.
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
