protonix

Avatar f tn Thx. Put on Protonix a week ago. Testing me for a host of frightening illnesses and having sinus and lung ultrasounds. Waiting on results.
Avatar f tn I have to undergo a ph test to determine breakthrough reflux while being on 40mg of protonix for the last few months. Truthfully, what can I expect to experience? And any tips or suggestions on how to deal with this diagnosis? Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I have LPR- had it since 1997- it is horrible- took forever to diagnose since I rarely get any heartburn- I have waht is called cyclical vomiting- when i am in the cycle anything I eat makes me cough and vomit and vomit violently- for days or weeks- sometimes even on awakening- always clearing my throat- NONE of the gastro- tests showed reflux- I have been on meds for years- was on twice the max daily dose of nexium for yrs but new ins wont pay so now on protonix twice max daily dose- was on reg
Avatar m tn After all tests came back negative, the sore throat and swollen submandibular lymph nodes have lasted for almost 1.5 years. After multiple doctors visits, I have been diagnosed with LPR. The ENT put me on Nexium ??mg twice per day. I have been taking the Nexium for about a month now. I have a couple of questions. Are swollen submandibular lymph nodes a common symptom of LPR? I have only seen in one place where someone says swollen lymph nodes are a symptom of LPR.
Avatar m tn There are treatment options for people who have LPR. Most of the treatments can also be used as prevention measures. Follow a bland diet (low acid levels, low in fat, not spicy), Eat frequent, small meals, Lose weight, Avoid the use of alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine, Do not eat food less than 2 hours before bedtime and Raise the head of the bed before sleeping. Place a strong, solid object (like a board) under the top portion of the mattress.
6780206 tn?1386121349 Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience here. I also suffer from GERD. I was misdiagnosed with a hital hernia back in 2006 and a ENT prescribed me prevacid. When in fact my symptoms were from a allergic reaction to allergy drops a allergist put me on and I had to put them under my tongue. Needless to say, I was naive and believed as we usually do when we are young a Dr. therefore, I continued to take the prevacid, in which later was switched to protonix.
Avatar f tn I know supplements are difficult to get into your system for lack of acid in the stomach when you take protonix....but is it the same for iron rich foods? Would the stomach also block iron and other nutrients you get from food since it blocks supplements as well? If so, how can I take the acid reflux meds but still get the nutrients my body needs?
Avatar n tn My dr changed my med from protonix to Nexium for one month, and also zoloft for anxiety and esophageal spasms, and I am to go back to her in a few weeks for a follow up. In the meantime, the swallowing problem seemed to go away for awhile, and then comes back again. She seems to think that the acid probably has damaged some soft tissue in my throat, and this is waht caused the swallowing problem.
Avatar f tn I have doubt now if I have LPR for real.My symtoms are nausea, belching all day before or after meal, constipation (since I have taken PPI), trouble sleeping because of abdomen pain,I have too much gas in my ab causeing pain 24/7.First ENT dianosed me with laryngitis+pharyngitis. After I recovered them.I found my throat has been burning and still painful. So i went for 2nd ENT opinion who dianosed me as Laryngopharyngeal Reflux.I tried to change my eating pattern .I got better.
Avatar m tn No history of reflux, but sent to gastroenterologist (for possibility of LPR and I said that I had a habit of clearing my throat a lot?) and put on protonix and pepcid and eliminated host of foods. I've been put on cyclobenzaprine (5mg 3x/day). I've tried NSAIDS. No matter what I try, it continues to come and go. The voice comes back, but it will go randomly and be gone for days (like now) - raspy, breathy.
Avatar m tn I hope I am in the right place to ask this, as I am looking for any help or prior experiences with anyone similar! I have a lot of background info but I'll try and keep it brief ;) >Felt perfectly fine until an allergy attack mid-April of this year >Since then had massive stomach and throat problems >Diagnosed as allergies + LPR >Went on Nexium 20mg twice a day, 3 months of that helped.
Avatar m tn I went for a 2nd opinion, and now Im being told I have LPR or silent reflux. My Laryngeal tonsils are the size of grapes...and I can't normally eat, sleep or swallow. Told me to take Dexilant ...follow up in two weeks..if that does not work then a swallowing specialist? Why can't I have my tonsils removed and be done with it? I have no real reflux symptoms, just the swollen tonsils. Doctors keep putting me on medications that don't seem to work.
Avatar f tn On June 11, 2010, I had Barium Swallow test for stomach pains. Results were fine.June 21, 2010, I had an Endoscopy also for stomach pains.Test showed Gastritis and Diverticulosis-all fairly common.A short time later,I noticed that my swallowing felt slower. I then went on to develop a wretched sore throat that went on for 2-3 months.
Avatar f tn Here is a web site for your condition, www.uthscsa.edu/oto/lpr.asp. I had this same problem for many years and fixed it by changing my diet. I eat a low glycemic high fiber diet, 5 small meals a day, low fat and good fat only, drink lots of water. I have little to no alcohol, spicy foods, greasy fatty foods, acidic foods and caffeine. Also you may want to take digestive enzymes with every meal. I found that this helps greatly. I do not know if you should sing or not.
Avatar f tn When I take the Zantac I would say my chest symptoms are 90% better, but the Protonix is best for me. With that said, my doctor said if I can manage on the Zantac either once or twice a day to do that, since Zantac has less side effects. Chewing gum during the day helps me a lot too. No stress, but a year ago when this started my whole family did get a cold, and this is when I thought it was asthma, but it wasn't.
Avatar m tn *** My mother no longer suffers severe GERD (5 years), severe LPR (5 years) and is 95% improved with gastritis (25 years/severe pain for the last 5). She stopped ALL acid blockers after i found an online baking soda test to try out. She didn't burp for an hour! Seriously low stomach acid! So nexium and gaviscon out, digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in! Oh and her acid blockers were not working either.
1563671 tn?1295117441 i had the nissan done 8 years ago and it changed my life. i couldnt live with the lump in my throat anymore. after my surgery i suffered for about amonth. couldn't eat nothing but liquids for a while. let me explain something i havn't seen anyone talk about. when i came home after 7 days i had saliva pouring out of me . i had to put a towel down and place my head on it to catch it. you have to understand that the esophagus has saliva gland that when constricted causes this.
Avatar m tn I am suffering from laryngiopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease for 4 months. I can't face hiv test and it gives me lot of anxiety. I had Mono like illness 5 weeks after sexual exposure. I am going to try and test though I just have a quick question about my symptom timeline and if this illness Iv been diagnosed with. Is silent reflux a sign and symptom of HIV? I red this http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar f tn Ok so I had a upper Gi test done tuesday and they found I had little gastritis of the stomach and esophagitis and that my stomach was making to much acid.
