Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
Avatar f tn Vitamin D deficiency is commonly due to not enough sunlight. However, the causes of vitamin D deficiency are numerous and you may have more than one condition contributing to this deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to affect at least a billion people worldwide. When vitamin D levels are not rising well or at all (vitamin D resistance) low magnesium levels are the first suspect. High doses of vitamin D can worsen an existing magnesium deficiency.

I have also consulted to Neurologist.
12504580 tn?1485510437 Hi there, Vitamin D can be low in someone with MS, one reason is because of getting less sun exposure with Uhthoff's worsening their neurological symptoms. Whilst it's not uncommon for someone with MS to take Vit D, Vit D deficiency is also common in the general population, with stats around 1 in 3 with a D deficiency.

Avatar n tn I have been suffering with all of your symptoms for years and finally a few months ago after being tested for anything and everything was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency. I have come to realize that this is so common but for some reason is left undiagnosed in most people so consider yourself lucky.

Avatar f tn Excerpt from Know the Importance of Taking Enough Magnesium with Your Vitamin D... "Vitamin D, just like all other nutrients, works in harmony with several other nutrients to perform its many functions. Most importantly, vitamin D requires and 'uses up' magnesium to convert from supplements or sun into its active form in the blood. As such, it is a big mistake to simply take large doses of Vitamin D without taking the need for magnesium into consideration.
488264 tn?1226520307 If you are still concerned about Vitamin D, a multivitamin with Vitamin D 400 IU is sufficient. You should not go over that amount in supplementation. Vitamin D is available through our foods also. Fortified milk, breakfast cereals, egg yolks, fatty fish, fish oils, and the sun. Sit at a window with the sun shining in for about 1/2 hour (few times a week) and that will help you get enough Vitamin D.

Avatar f tn Deep inside I knew it could be due to vitamin d deficiency and so it is. Because I had a family friend who told me there was a lady who was vitamin d deficiency and she had the same symptoms I was having. It took her two years in getting diagnosed and treatment. Now after 4 months of supplementing I am feeling a lot better and I can definitely see light in the end. My level is in optimal range 50-80. Turned out I don't have MS or any other disease.
Avatar f tn In the last month I was found with hematuria blood in urine and low vit. D I was put on 50,000 units of vit d weekly. UA again in 3 months. I have aches/pains that come and go in limbs and fingers. I was very tired but seem to be getting that under control. I did loose 15 pds but now my weight is steady. Praise. I do have stomach pain too that comes and goes. I have had multiple blood work everything came back fine except the vit d.
Avatar n tn ve had the battery of tests done for thyroid, anemia, RA. They all came back negative with the exception of a Vitamin D deficiency. My vitamin D level is 14. Could it cause all these problems? I was told to buy some Caltrate and start taking that. But from what I've seen I don't know if this is the right route to take. Maybe I should see an endocrinologist? I also have to go for an MRI of the head sometime soon.
Avatar f tn Hi. A couple months ago my doctor checked my vitamin D level and told me it was 20 and that it was low so I should start taking vitamin D. Since then I've been taking 1000mgs on and off sometimes on for 2 weeks then off for 3 weeks....well I keep getting infections like sinusitis, I've had a UTI, tonsillitis, and now the stomach flu... I also have random pain on my body but lately mostly my left arm has been hurting and I've also had palpitations...
Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Smita, Thank you for your response! Actually, I had all my blood test checked (calcium, magnesium, TSH,...etc) Everything came out normal except vitamin d is low. Could it be vitamin d deficiency and calcium still can be normal? I don't understand. My doctor prescribed me 50,000 IU vit. d once a week x 12 weeks and I'm taking Gapapentin 300mg at night from my neurologist for sleep. What he told me my twitching is benign and don't worry about it!
