Protonix and vitamin d

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix and vitamin d

protonix

Avatar f tn I did not realize this could cause malabsorption of vitamins and am chronically deficient in iron, vitamin d, magnesium etc and was put on prescription vitamins. I stopped taking the acid reflux meds for a few months and now am waking up a lot at night (in addition to my sleep apnea), have gunk in my throat and feel stuff coming back up again.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if long term protonix use has been linked to joint and muscle pain as well as hearing loss. I have been taking proton pump inhibitors for 18 years and have just begun hearing about bone loss and other issues. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after finally seeing a doctor about the pain that I have endured for over 10 years.
19024797 tn?1471291132 m taking 6,000 IU of Vitamin D daily and have read many articles on how Magnesium and Vitamin K all work together in the process of absorbing Vitamin D and visa vera...but when my doctor but me on Vitamin D he didn't mention supplementing with Magnesium or Vitamin K. Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
Avatar m tn I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this.. Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.
Avatar m tn I have been doing that and my levels stay around 400 or so. I am on a PPI ( protonix) and that causes you to absorb less B12 so I really need the shots. Are you on a PPI such as nexium, protonix etc?
1750261 tn?1311867630 I would hate for you to start with those right off the bat, because long-term use of these medications can cause malabsorption of important vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. Supplementing will not help enough with the malabsorption. I know this from experience. And, you're still very young and just starting out in life. So, start with the diet, exercise and the raising of the head of the bed first.
1479013 tn?1330699762 t help but had to try that first before insurance would pay for Protonix. I have been on Protonix for over a year now and am having problems again. Right after I eat, I get bloated; I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over.
Avatar n tn Hi there, You seem very to know a lot about certain drugs. I have a question about benedryl. Is it okay to take with pvc's? My heart is structurally normal and I have had all the tests. I'm on 1/4 of a 25mg of tenormin to help with the pvc's and pat. I'm also on protonix for reflux. I was wondering about that drug as well. My cardio suggested claritin but I'm really hesitant to take that.
Avatar f tn I did some more research and found that protonix can cause a vitamin B-12 deficiency and anxiety. I called my doctor and they wrote me off right away saying the drug should be out of my system and maybe I suddenly developed anxiety (never had any issue with anxiety in my entire life) and that I should see a doctor. I started trying to fix it on my own - I was miserable.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Now for my other issues... Vitamin D deficient despite supplementation. Endo upped my liquid Vit D dose to 5,000IU a day and will retest to see if it comes up (currently at 22). Several months ago it was discovered that I had ovarian cysts and recently had a laparoscopy which revealed 3 cysts, adhesions, endometriosis, and a twisted fallopian tube. So that was all fixed.
Avatar n tn What are the effects of taking vitamins b, c d with Protonix?
709686 tn?1277432159 Sorry for all the posts...Im really scared right now. I've also read that ppi's and h2i's can cause a vitamin b deficiency which can cause hands and feet to get cold. I've been on and off all kinds of ppi's over the past few years and notice that I react harshly to even the smallest amouts. Protonix seems to be the only thing that does not cause me problems. Another side effect I have is my hands hurt BADLY when I wake up in the morning.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the the relationship between Vitamin D and MS and if you take supplements, will it help prevent relapses? I was just reading something about this from a report from the UK--and their research suggests that it does seem to help. I also wonder if you can give vitamin supplements to children/teens and if that will help to prevent the disease later in life.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I've been tested and have come up with a deficiancy of Vitamin D was told that Vitamin D is like the mortar between the bricks of your colon wall, if you have a deficiancy then the toxins can easily slip through the gaps out your colon and into your blood stream. First stop your liver, then onto your heart and mind. Once your liver starts to drop then it's harder for you to metabolise other vitamins also only making things worse.
Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
Avatar f tn In the report issued today, the committee reviewed studies on the metabolism and physiology of calcium and vitamin D and their influence on health. Dietary reference intakes were determined using the estimated average requirement (EAR; the level at which 50% of the population's needs are met), recommended dietary allowance (level at which 95% of the population's needs are met), tolerable upper intake level, and adequate intake level.
Avatar f tn Have your Vitamin D checked. I also heard that tanning beds do not give you the Vitamin D so not sure about a sunlamp. Coral Calcium has Vitamin D3 so it's a good source as well as most fish, especially salmon. Vitamin D deficiencies can cause serious problems. Mine was just tested at 40 and it was 11.8, well below normal and it took months of arthritis pains, gout, paresthesias, four doctors, etc. for one doctor to say, "Haven't they ever tested your Vitamin D?
