protonix

I have had IBS for about a year and i understand that their is no cure. The pains i get occur mostly at night and i have trouble sleeping when i do get the pain. The pain feels like a stitch which makes it hard for me to breath and get up. The pain does go after a while and then i can get back to sleep. I do not get this every night though only at times. Is there a reason for this? The doctors also gave me some mebeverine tablet 135mg which i need to take 3 times a day, 15min before meals.
H ave been to seen doc. 3 times. Stopped taking protonix for 2 wks. I have started taking the protonix again and the allergic symptoms seem worse. Doc. feels it may be a food allergy instead of the drug. Has me keeping a food diary and gave me a HAST blood screening-results not in yet. I am really stressed and at times really scared with my throat swells and there is a fluttering in my chest and waves of anxiety. Sometimes I feel like I am about to faint and then I have to have a bowel movement.
I have acid reflux and IBS. Should I take aciphex in the am and protonix in the evening or is that being redundint?
I am now eating very healthy but found out that between the Protonix and Lorazapam they both have done a job on my mouth. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to discontinue the Lorazapm under my doctor's care and I have not taken Protonix for 7 days. No acid yet or reflux. I hated Protonix from the start but it did stop my gastritis.
Hi, yes I have IBS and acid refux. I am on prilosec, and a certain diet for my IBS. I also take colace twice a day.
omg! i have same. ibs and GERD. i'm seeing nutritionist tomorrow. been seeing chiropractor too. he said realligning spine can help. i take 40 mg protonix twice a day. they say not to bend a lot or do things where your upper torso is lower then your lower torso. we're supposed to raise the top of the bed up 6 inches too. don't eat before bed. wait 3 hours before lying down. it is god awful. i can't eat anything. with ibs it's really hard. i'm ok with oatmeal, baked potato, very plain stuff.
I experienced these bouts about 1-2 times a month. I went to see my doctor and he said it was fine and normal and to watch my diet, etc. About 5 weeks ago I came down with a fever one night and had constant diahrea. The fever subsided the next day but I had constant diahrea for 3-4 more days. I took a pill of imodium which kept me constipated for a day. On the 5th day I woke up with my stomach/abdomen area strangely fatigued and sore. I thought this was usual and resumed my daily activity.
I am a 49 yr old female, I had my gallbladder removed 9 yrs. ago, and with that I got IBS w/ severe diarrhea (pain and fatigue, alot of acid). I take Questran (generic Cholestrymine) 1 tsp. w/ water at bed (One package can be to binding and constipate.), It binds bile and stops my diarrhea. If I don't take this at bedtime. The next morning, no matter what I put in my mouth I will have diarrhea. IAlso, try Protonix for acid.
My 21 year old daughter has gastroparesisi and IBS. She has seen a new GI Dr. who would like her to join a clinical trial group he has using Dromperidol. ANy experience or thought on this would be appreciated!!
I had my gallbladder removed 9 yrs. ago, and with that I got IBS w/ severe diarrhea (pain and fatigue, alot of acid). Also, try Protonix for acid. I cannot eat gassy fruits or vegies, citrus or acidic foods, no fried or fatty foods, no dairy, no alcohol, caffiene, garlic, onions. I eat low sugar, low fat meals - oatmeals, fiber one bars, fruit & nut bars, lean quisine meals, applesauce, activia yogurt. No real people food. The Questran is a miracle for me.
Mucus can be in IBS (fructose malabsorption or lactose intolerance) in parasites, in candida overgrowth, and of course in Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. The later two are called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and present with occasional diarrhea, nausea, not feeling well, occasional low-grade fever, mouth sore, skin rash or so.
I live w/ pain everyday due to digestion and adhesions and it disrupts my life and family. Good luck, I wish you well.
IBS is supposed to be a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that after testing for everything else comes out normal, the docs throw up their hands and declare Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Any doctor who diagnoses a patient with IBS without doing some basic testing like imaging studies, blood work, and even a colonoscopy is a lazy doctor. IBS doesn't cause upper GI pain and symptoms.

I was on Aciphex before this started and I decided to cut costs and had my family doc put me on protonix. Since then, I felt like I had more reflux problems. Now I am on Nexium because my insurance co. has to approve to put me back on Aciphex. I also have a lot of stress. My husband has an incurable heart disease, and last week one of my close friends died. I had a bad episode of the above symptoms a couple days ago.
i went to the doctor today and he perscribed ativan and protonix. he is running bloodtests for angina.
GI said IBS, needed more fiber, stress, etc. Was on 10mg lexapro and 40mg protonix. Lost a ton of weight when this happened. Went to GI doctor they ended up doing endoscopy and found polyp on gallbladder. Underwent ultrasounds for awhile to see if polyp was growing. Finally had it removed in 2008 after HIDA scan. Ended up gaining all weight back and more. Was doing ok on and off - still would have bouts with stomach. Fast forward to this past September.
So you are going to have to incorporate some things to offset the stress involved. I have a pretty high stress job at times and it can be very difficult to have IBS and travel, attend meetings, etc. Eventually you will adjust. Also, gaining weight can flare up your IBS attacks, usually when you gain weight it is cause you've been less active- so getting more exercise will help. You don't have to do anything too difficult, simply walking more will help - even yoga and meditation can help.
After numerous visits to the E.R. and an overnight stay.Doctors gave me protonix to take which seem to make the condition worse after a couple days. I was given way too many antibiotics for a UTI and then the stomach started. Right now the symptoms are a very jumpy stomach which is driving me insane, bloating, itching, some lower abdominal pain that comes and goes, and When I fall asleep the acid in my throat is unbelievable.
However, 5 days ago I began to have the belching constantly and had no relief from the antacids. I went to the doctor 4 days ago and he put me on Protonix, thinking it may be GERD, and if not then my gallbladder. I began to take the medication 3 days ago. The pain in my abdomen has subsided but the belching is still present. Two nights ago I had a sudden onset of pain in my upper left back. It was so painful that I ended up in the ER where they ran tests on my urine and blood.
I was diagnosed with gastritis and IBS and told there was no cure and discharged. My question as it relates to all of this is I was in the hospital over 7/4 prior to all of this when I turned pale, felt weak, and had to to sit down. This happened right after eating. I was sent to the ER and hospitalized for fear of a cardiac event. What concerned me is the ER doctor right away suspected pneumonia.
I been off it for 2 days but only took it for 3 will these symptoms go away soon? I also take protonix for gerd and ibs. I need some input I never felt so miserable before and I was in the hospital a lot in september. Please comment....
Then if failed, and I suffered severe heartburn night and day. I then went to a GI doctor who did an endoscope, and put me on Protonix. It gave me severe diarrhea, and cramps all day long. I took it for 2 months. Switched to Zantac which did not control my GERD. Switched to Nexium which caused cramps and diarrhea also but not as severe cramps as protonix.
I had every test imaginable including scans and and upper GI. I was diagnosed with IBS and sent home with pain pills and protonix. I was told I would be on protonix for good. Being a medical administrator, I have a friendly relationship with my PCP and they just refill my protonix RX as needed. I take it only when I'm really stressed or starting to feel things getting really painful. (I can nnot swallow pills.
I dont suffer from these symptoms. My question is, are gastritis and IBS commonly found in the same person, and is it likely that the proton pump inhibitor will help with my bloating? I honestly was surprised that the UGI found anything, as my problems seem to be lower in my guts. I definitely have some IBS symptoms, mainly gas and bloating, but others are markedly absent-the stool is fairly normal and while i get very frequent discomfort, I'm not really in pain.
I have been dx. with IBS after a colonoscopy. The Dr. has me take Kapidex daily and Dicyclomine as needed. They don't seem to be doing anything. I live on Immodium AD but my colon, on the colonoscopy, looks healthy. Then why is my colon so hypersensitive and bloated? I get sweaty, every inch of my small and large bowel feels like ground glass is passing through it, I have tons of gas and then multiple watery diarrhea.

I went on about a month of prilosec and the side effects were pretty bad for me (being fructose/gluten intolerant..) so my mother had a prescription for protonix (another PPI for ulcers) and I was on that for a month...so FINALLY hitting the 2 month mark I had enough and stopped all ulcer medications. It's been a crappy winter, the side effects of these drugs made me stick pretty close to the bathroom at work... never did ANYTHING social.. just straight to home.. waiting and waiting..
I have muscle spazms along with the in my arms and legs. Chest pain occasionally. Ive had acid reflux and IBS since i was 16. Taking nexium, and whatever else they can prescribe to help, but mine is cronic so theres not much they can do. I have only had one seizure so far.. But im wondering what i can tell myself with all these symtoms im having. Iv heard people talk about Raynauds syndrom? But i dont seam to have cold feet or hands alot of the time, occasionally. And no discoloration.
