620923 tn?1452915648 My son just went through a batter of GI test and they said that he had severe acid reflux and he takes Protonix everyday to keep it under control. It has seemed to help with it but the GI doctor said she can not be sure if this is related to his CM. He was having trouble using the restroom daily and she put him on miralx and that has helped but when they did the barrum drink and the Upper GI (light down the throat) they did not find anything wrong except acid reflux.
Avatar f tn Stress and IBS go hand in hand. I think most IBS sufferers go through these things. I take Pepto Bismol for nausea . If you feel neausiated from stress...it is best you talk with a doctor to see if there is anything he can help you with as far as your stressors. Ask yourself..what have you done for YOU lately? Hvae you ..picked your priorities?...ie: what you are to worry about and what to let go? do you excercise? meditate? Bring in things that make yourself peaceful.
Avatar f tn I have muscle spazms along with the in my arms and legs. Chest pain occasionally. Ive had acid reflux and IBS since i was 16. Taking nexium, and whatever else they can prescribe to help, but mine is cronic so theres not much they can do. I have only had one seizure so far.. But im wondering what i can tell myself with all these symtoms im having. Iv heard people talk about Raynauds syndrom? But i dont seam to have cold feet or hands alot of the time, occasionally. And no discoloration.
Avatar f tn I have had a constant dull upper and mid right quadrant pain for the last 5 months. The pain is more of an annoyance and sometimes hurts when I bend or twist my body. Sometimes, it feels like gnawing or pinching. No nausea or vomiting. No significant changes in bowel movements. I’ve had IBS for over 10 years so nothing out of the ordinary. I thought maybe it was the gallbladder or appendix at first, however, I’m not quite sure. I’ve been to my primary three times for the issue.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn 4 PPIs: Nexium, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix; 2 H2blockers: Zantac and Pepcid; 2 antiacids: Gaviscon and Riopan. I couldn't take any of these more than a few days (from 1 to 13 days) because of their side effects. The 2 bad side effects I've most often had are: worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan).
Avatar f tn He has these episodes where he gets flushed, ears get hot, BP and pulse are elevated to 130/88 and pulse can be 108. Cardiologist said his heart is fine with an EKG and heart ultrasound. These are the times where the stomach squeezing and nausea are worse. It seems to be happening worse when his stomach is empty. This last Pediatric GI is referring us to a functional abdominal pain clinic. We have also tried doxycycline with no results. I do not think it is IBS.
Avatar n tn He was considering doing some true gall bladder tests but said he suspected maybe an ulcer, gastroenteritis?, or maybe IBS. So he prescribed me Hyoscyamine and Protonix, saying he thought maybe the odd shaped poops were being caused by my colon spasming and pushing them into odd shapes. I took the Protonix and hadn't yet started on the other drug and within a day everything returned to normal, I felt great and my poops were back to their normal shape and size.
1448936 tn?1363206346 Without having the test done I feel like any doctor would just say it sounds like IBS (which I feel is a crock of **** and means they just don't know whats going on in there, and from what I've read on here a lot of people feel the same way). If I didn't live in MA I'd never be able to afford the test either, the price is still over my head but not high enough that I'm not willing to spend it.
Avatar f tn Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....
439682 tn?1207682978 Well, I have IBS as well as PCOS and Hypothyroidism and I have to say, what you're describing is exactly how I get when the IBS acts up.
527758 tn?1246396367 A week ago I started having constant belching. I went to see the doctor and he put me on Protonix and that was also when he changed my blood pressure meds. This was two days ago. Last night I was driving home when I got a sudden sharp pain in my left upper back. It was bad enough to send me to the hospital. They ran tests on my blood and urine. All came back normal. No gallbladder problem showed up or kidney stones.
Avatar m tn m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
Avatar f tn I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily
Avatar f tn Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
Avatar f tn I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
7763229 tn?1396626895 I am on pepcid a.c. now and it tears my stomach up. Mmm I have an appt today so we'll see.
Avatar m tn Lastly your acid issues may be related to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which may need a further diagnosis and is closely related to the state of mind a person is in. Anxiety may contribute as a problem there. In addition to this, I would suggest mild exercise and breathing exercises to help you further with your metabolism. Watch out for milk, coffee, soup, sodas, oil, beer, sugar, egg yolk, pulses, etc for sometime to avoid .

Avatar m tn This can be a side effect of Prilosec which is a good medication to treat acidity, IBS, GERD etc. Hence you can stop this and see if your symptoms subside. There are other medicines available which you can try. “GERD symptoms are often relieved by over-the-counter, acid-reducing agents called antacids.
681148 tn?1437661591 I recently had to start using a PPI because it was discovered that I have gastritis flares in my stomach. I've had problems with Prilosec and Nexium in the past, so my PCP prescribed Protonix. I mentioned that I wanted to only use it temporarily, since I know long-term PPI use isn't a good idea, as it can cause problems such as malabsorption. It has been some time since I've used a PPI, so I don't remember if this was an issue when I first started using the medication or not..
177337 tn?1310059899 RNRita - I'm worried about going off because it really did help. I used to use Gaviscon but it stopped working. I have been on Protonix for quite a while so maybe I will stop and see if I can have luck with Gaviscon and Tums again. Did the pvc's stop right away as soon as you went off it? WIsconsin2007 - I don't see any literature with palps as a side effect either and my cardio gave them to me and told me it wouldn't bother my heart. But I have to wonder....
Avatar m tn and for the past week I have had on and off dull ache in my testicles family dr who gave me protonix, ordered booldwork to check for H Pylori, and abdominal ultrasound...all of which came back normal...and my symptoms are getting worse....im losing sleep and missing work because of so much discomfort. Scheduled appt with gastro doc myself and want to stop the lets try this routine and get some things done that will give me an answer soon.....thoughts/????
Avatar n tn I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?
