Protonix and gallbladder

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix and gallbladder

protonix

Avatar f tn Before getting pregnant with my daughter, i was on protonix off and on two years. I didn't have heartburn at all with my daughters pregnancy, but now pregnant with my son, i have so many digestive issues. I have been on Protonix again for almost a month and it helps but not 100%. I don't know what else to do, i also had an ejection fraction of 22% for my Gallbladder back in 2011. Will these problems go away after i deliver my son? Or will the problems persist?
Avatar n tn The doctor said it was stress and prescribed Protonix . Protonix is for acid reflux- I have never had heartburn or acid reflux. The pain subsided (I believe due to the Tylonel 3 which has codeine in it). I ate some chicken broth and crackers, took the Protonix and here a few hours later, I am feeling the pain coming back. I do not have any stress in my life at the moment, so I just don't think this is due to an acidic stomach from stress.
Avatar m tn atenolol, buspirone, protonix For the past month, I have been dealing with all sorts of pains involving my GI tract. My PCP assumed it was gastritis and put me on nexium (and later switched to protonix by an ER doctor) to handle the pain. The pain right below my sternum (in my upper stomach) seems to have subsided, but I have had awful pain in my chest and back for the past couple of weeks. I've been checked out by the ER for pancreas, gallbladder, and infection bloodtests.
Avatar f tn I have had a constant dull upper and mid right quadrant pain for the last 5 months. The pain is more of an annoyance and sometimes hurts when I bend or twist my body. Sometimes, it feels like gnawing or pinching. No nausea or vomiting. No significant changes in bowel movements. I’ve had IBS for over 10 years so nothing out of the ordinary. I thought maybe it was the gallbladder or appendix at first, however, I’m not quite sure. I’ve been to my primary three times for the issue.
Avatar f tn yeah i already cut out all those foods and am taking zantac 300 twice daily and protonix 40 daily. It's still not working. i'm thinking its my gallbladder too.
Avatar n tn I have right quandrant pain and had an ultrasound of liver, gallbladder, spleen, etc. Came out negative but I still have pain Dr prescribed Protonix 2 x daily Does this help the gallbladder.
Avatar m tn Everytime I was told there was nothing wrong. Finally one doctor decided to do a hida scan and found I had a low function gallbladder. it was only 17%. In November I had my gallbladder removed. I had a lot of pain and the heartburn instantly returned.. and I would get nauseas with one bite of food. Went back to my surgeon he referred me to a gastro dr, and prescribed me Prilosec. Prilosec did nothing. While waiting to get in I continued to get worse.
Avatar n tn I finally put a blog up and a dr responded by saying that your gallbladder is leaking from the inside thats why all the tests indicated that my gallbladder was normal. I had it taken out and he was right. be persistent you know there is something wrong don't let the drs tell you different.
Avatar f tn They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!
Avatar f tn I had a Hida Scan in June and the rate was 77% then I had another one in December and it was at 40% so they thought that my gallbladder was failing and making me sick. It took me about a week on the Protonix 2 x aday before I started to feel better, the regland I just started 6 days ago but I dont like how I feel on it either but I don't feel sick so I will just stay on it for 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn My son had his gallbladder removed in January 2017 after 4 months of gallbladder attacks finally getting diagnosed with a HIDA scan of 0%. He has done great for 8 months. He had a couple of times of temporary stomach upset from fatty foods like ice cream. He now wakes up every morning feeling like he needs to vomit running to the toilet. He never vomits but coughs and welches like he is about to. All tests come back negative.
Avatar n tn At the end of February I started having problems sleeping, aching joints and muscles, constipation and numbness/tingling down my legs and feet. I blamed it on side effects from the protonix I had been on for 3 months. With my doctors approval I stopped the protonix. It took over a week for the withdrawal symptoms to disappear and I felt much better. Until this last week or so.
Avatar f tn and found, of course, gall stones. My gallbladder was removed and since then I STILL have the recurring burning pain, although now it's just a bit lower. I called my surgeon a month after the surgery and he told me to 'give it 6 months to a year' and here I am.....still with this pain that interferes with walking, cooking...whatever. there's no correlation between the pain and what I eat; as it's ALWAYS there if I'm on my feet 'too long'.
1222076 tn?1423027749 Had an ultrasound done that showed my gallbladder was fine. I finally got insurance and they finally sent me to a GI doctor since then I have had a few endoscopys lots of blood work, x rays, and they did a HIDA scan and that's when they realized my gallbladder wasnt functioning correctly. Im still not 100% better but I made a video on my own experience on how my surgery went.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe sore throats, a bitter taste in my mouth, chest pain, and stomach pain, and occasionaly dificulty swallowing for about 5 months now. My doctor put me on prilosec otc which seemed to have helped for about a month. Then he had me try protonix . I stopped that after 4 days bacause it made me sick to my stomach. The he had me on zantac (which also didn't work), now I' m on nexium twice a day.
Avatar f tn What really bothers me most is the chest pain. I am not sure if I should go to the ER. I went last week and was given protonix and motrin and a script for Vicodin. I had a follow up recently with the nurse practitioner to go over my endoscope results: gallstones, sludge, a polyp, thickening of the gallbladder wall and inflammation of the small intestines. I am scheduled for surgery in a few days but feel like I wont be able to make it til then. Help!
Avatar f tn Found out that my HIDA scan was normal with 75% ejection fraction, however there are few polys on my gallbladder walls (the largest one is 35mm) according to ultrasound report. I was shocked to hear it as when I had called to ask my ultrasound result, the nurse didn't tell me about it. GI referred me to see a surgeon for gallbladder removal. I had been having nausea, abdominal pain, gagging after eating, specially fatty food.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 26 year old man diagnosed with GERD. This all started a 3 years ago. I was sick: nauseous, vomiting, yellow urine and jaundice. My doctor ran a panel on me, I had elevated levels bilurubin. In a few weeks I recovered, and my doctor ran the panel again. Again I had no signs of Hepatitis or anything like that. He told me thought I might have a rogue mono virus. Whenever you run my blood today, the bilurubin levels are still extremely high.
Avatar f tn Meds we have tried (SPELLING IS NOT BEST) Phinagin, Protonix, Vicondin, Ragel, and some others. We did try Clarifit and it seemed to work for about 2 months with not issues but now we are back to square one. We can not longer go to the local hospitas because they think my Husband has an addiction problem but he does not, he hates taking any meds. We just need some advise on which way we need to go now. He is going on day 5 of being sick... Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn Currently, I am taking Protonix in the am and pm for heartburn problems that I have had for about 3 years (Dr thinks that it was likely GURD related symptoms). Recently replaced Protonix with Dexilant in the pm. Any advice would be great.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Said I have very slight Barrett’s and some inflammation and put me on protonix. Also have small polyp on gallbladder that we will check again in 6 months. He said the pain in rib (front and side) can be caused from this, and that it affects everyone differently. I don’t have much indigestion and have a great appetite, etc. I hate to doubt but it seems strange that intermittent pain can radiate all over. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Avatar f tn 3 years ago I had what felt like another gallbladder attach. They did blood test, liver biobsy and my liver functions came back normal, but I was still having pain. They decided to do an ERCP. I was in severe pain afterwards but fine after a couple of days. 3 years later (this year) I had another really bad attach, with many many multiple attacked in the past few months before, they decided to do another ERCP. On both ERCPs they have found gall stones.
Avatar f tn I got really nauseated in 2011 and it lasted for months....my gall bladder was removed because of a HIDA scan with an ejection of 30 ( no stones). I didn't get better and went from 118 lbs. to 92 lbs. I had many tests:2abdomial CTs, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, a small bowel study, a gastric emptying test, an MRI, numerous x-rays and bloodwork --all was normal except I did show some gastritis on endoscopy and my GES was in high normal range..
Avatar f tn m miserable every day, been taking protonix and ranitidine daily and constantly have to burp and still feel the pain on my side from time to time. Is it possible with my HIDA scan at 25% and no stones that my gallbladder could be causing the issue. I just want to feel normal again. My insurance changes on January 1st and have to start this process all over again. Any feedback is appreciated and sorry for rambling on.
Avatar f tn I am a 50 year old female and am approximately 70 pounds overweight. My gallbladder has been removed. In the last two months, I go three to four days without a bowel movement. I then have an uncomfortable morning of loose stools. This lasts about three hours, and then I am fine. I begin to feel abdominal cramps again after one good day (especially upon eating), then--lather, rinse, repeat. I do have tenderness on my right side--exactly across from where my gallbladder used to be.
Avatar f tn My son had his gallbladder removed in January 2017 after 4 months of gallbladder attacks finally getting diagnosed with a HIDA scan of 0%. He has done great for 8 months. Avatar f tn s fizzing up my chest. I also have a chronic cough and like a phlemy build up. I am on 40mg on protonix daily and this has helped. However I recently had my gallbladder out 1 week ago today(it was only functioning at 19%) and about 3 nights ago my reflux came back, but only at night! It wakes me up, I'll take my medicine plus tums and it doesn't help at all, where as before surgery this would get it under control.
