protonix and antibiotics

s not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation? Before starting the Protonix I was fairly regular and my diet hasn't changed much, if at all, so I can't imagine any other reason for this. My doctor never indicated a length of time for taking it, he only listed refills on the bottle.

I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.

I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this.. Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.

Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....

the last year they found h pylory after an endocoscopy...they gave me the treatment with the antibiotics and tested after and they told me that i was negative of the bug...but after that i felt worse than ever...pain around my ribs..acid reflux/...lactose intolerant/.//i'm taking protonix..one in the morning cause the generics ones did not work on me..prevazid did not work..nexium did not work..aciphex did not work..only the protonix but the expensive one..i should be so lucky...

he prescribed me the regular treatment with antibiotics and protonix...i was doing fine the first days..but after i changed to prevazid...i ve got bloating ,pain in my chest..heartburn..pain in my ribs and back...he tried to changed me to omeprazole but the side effects of that medicine are really horrible...i'm back to prevazid//just one time in the morning before meals( one hour before) \now i have an apointment in tow weeks to get the test of breath for h pylory...

It started somewhere in May and my doc put me on some antibiotics , it lasted for a week and then from then on am having some recurrences till now. Lately I have been experiencing some acid reflux, so my doc has put me on some protonix. I have to see if gets better. Though it is not that bad (i feel some itchiness in throat)am under constant fear to have anything cold because it could get bad. I am thinking it could be some sort of allergy, has someone had similar experience?

m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.

Hi i was taking protonix, metformin, and antibiotics when i took the test. can any of them cause false negative results??

I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily

About a year ago I was experiencing heartburn, I was diagnose with H.pylori, I was given antibiotics,protonix, I was given protonix for 3 months only, as soon as I stopped taking the protonix, heartburn return. I had an egd done which was negative for H.pylori, now I am experiencing nausea after I eat, maybe 3 times a week, when I experience nausea it usually ruins the rest of my day, I am not taking anything for nausea.

Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.

I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.

I am on pepcid a.c. now and it tears my stomach up. Mmm I have an appt today so we'll see.

Heartburn, throat feels like its on fire, chest pain, acid taste, indigestion, burping, acid coming up every time I burp. Finally got in to the gastro dr. He put me on protonix, and scheduled me for an EGD and Gastric Emptying Test. Both came back fine, but still feel horrible. Went back to the gastro today to follow up. He changed my dose of protonix, and said to see how that worked.

I tried 40mg protonix for 3 weeks, then twice daily for 2 weeks and now 40mg nexium for 5 days (so far) and none of them have got rid of the symptoms. They help a bit but I'm still getting almost constant asthma symptoms (on max dose of advair), nausea, coughing and clogged nose/ears after eating and bloating. The only thing that works is not eating, doesn't matter if I stay away from the foods that are bad for GERD, any food seems to give me symptoms.

RNRita - I'm worried about going off because it really did help. I used to use Gaviscon but it stopped working. I have been on Protonix for quite a while so maybe I will stop and see if I can have luck with Gaviscon and Tums again. Did the pvc's stop right away as soon as you went off it? WIsconsin2007 - I don't see any literature with palps as a side effect either and my cardio gave them to me and told me it wouldn't bother my heart. But I have to wonder....

I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?

Hospice care started this week. Protonix given daily - is it needed? Asymptomatic and no hx of gastric reflux.

t do it cause I have a 9 month old consists of 2 antibiotics either amoxicillin and erythromycin or tetracycline and flagyl .. and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment . now I am on prilosec which doesn't make it worse it blocks the acid in your stomach which h pylori thrives in acidic environments ..

And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.

m pretty sure I have it myself (why I know any of this) but you basically need to only eat green veggies and organic (non antibiotic) chicken for a month and take probiotics, and hopefully that kills off the yeast overgrowth. Sugars and starches are what feed it, so you cant eat any of that.

t help but had to try that first before insurance would pay for Protonix. I have been on Protonix for over a year now and am having problems again. Right after I eat, I get bloated; I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over.

I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..

I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix. After and during weight lifting it feels as though I cant breathe and have to sit down, then I belch for like 5 minutes. At the end it takes 2-3 hours before my stomach feels 'normal' again and I can actualy eat anything. I also have a hard time breathing due to this feeling of 'gas' in my upper stomach. I have had two endoscopies done with them saying my z-line (sphincter muscle?) was abnormal.
