Avatar n tn I had 3 or 4 episodes of gross macroscopic hematuria post exercise. My ecography resulted in 3 renal cysts, 2, 3 and 5 cm in left kidney. Also a 3 mm form compatible with AML. My BP is 135/80, no proteinuria. What woul you suggest?
Avatar n tn Hi, You must have microscopic hematuria if you do not observe the blood grossly in the urine.Microscopic hematuria refers to presence of rbc's in the urine detected through microscopic examination. This may be benign in origin. Engaging in heavy exercises prior to giving your urine sample may cause hematuria. History of intake of certain medications my also cause benign hematuria. Your previous history of repeated infections may alo contribute to the hematuria.
1527017 tn?1291671470 Proteinuria is the protein in the urine when it exceeds the level of 150 mg/day.Proteinuria can be checked for free proteins like protein C or particularly albumin.More proteins in the urine could indicate that the kidneys are failing.Proteinuria is not a disease but a symptom that indicates underlying pathology.Proteinuria may occur in association with other symptoms like hematuria, edema, hypertension, hypoalbuminemia, hypercholestrolemia, hyperlipemia, elevated serum creatinine and ASO.
Avatar f tn Over the next month the rash faded and he seemed recovered, until he developed a fever with no other symptoms apart from petechiae on the roof of his mouth and buttocks, again his blood and urine was tested, blood was normal (not sure about ESR this time) but hematuria and proteinuria was detected, the GP consulted with a paediatrician and another GP who doubted that it was ever HSP, which of course has left us anxious for answers.
Avatar m tn I have microscopic hematuria (blood in urine) which was first picked up in 2009. I had a cystoscopy in 2009 and a CT Urogram in 2012 which rules out sinister causes. The CT urogram also showed healthy kidneys, spleen, pancrease etc.. I had a water infection in January 2013 and passed visble hematuria e.g. red/brown urine. My blood tests in Janaury 2013 were as follows: Bun 13/mg/dl Creatinine 1.2 mg/dl Uric Acid 5.
Avatar m tn For the last 7 months I have been experiencing gross hematuria. After several ct scans, two cystoscopies, and endless blood test the reason of the gross hematuria is still unknown. Around two months ago I started seeing a nephrologist to see if the blood is coming from the kidneys, and around the same time my UA test started showing protein in my urine. Bellow are the results of my last UA and a 24hr urine protein.
Avatar n tn For Stage 3 CKD, the aim is to reduce the risks of progressive renal disease such as cardiovascular events including proteinuria, hematuria of renal origin, declining GFR. Healthy diet and lifestyle, as well as long term monitoring of renal function is indicated . Immunization with influenza and pneumococcal as well as regular follow-up with your attending physician are recommended. Alternative techniques such as medication, yoga and other relaxation techniques may help.
Avatar f tn The aim is to identify individuals at risk of progressive renal disease, and reduce associated risks such as cardiovascular events and presence of proteinuria or hematuria. Most people with CKD should be able to lead normal lives. Regular follow-up with your attending physician is highly recommended.. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Small amounts of microscopic blood (only seen via testing) within the urine (hematuria), suggests injury to the upper urinary tract (kidneys), whilst observable blood (with the eyes) suggests injury to the lower tract (i.e. bladder or urethra). However this is not always the situation. I would also recommend checking out the following website, especially when an infection has been ruled out: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/blood_in_urine/causes.htm & http://www.wrongdiagnosis.
Avatar f tn 2-4 According to the American Urological Association, the presence of three or more red blood cells (RBCs) per high-powered field (HPF) in two of three urine samples is the generally accepted definition of hematuria.18-20 The dipstick test for blood detects the peroxidase activity of erythrocytes. However, myoglobin and hemoglobin also will catalyze this reaction, so a positive test result may indicate hematuria, myoglobinuria, or hemoglobinuria.
Avatar f tn This may present with symptoms such as intermittent left flank pain associated with hematuria, proteinuria, and sometimes with symptoms of pelvic congestion. Being a rare condition, diagnosis is often difficult and plan for treatment usually requires careful evaluation of the diagnostic tests as well as medical history of patient.
Avatar f tn 77 y/o with hx of off and on Hematuria, had endoscopy, was told there is a tumor…A gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) removed a few months ago! Recovered well no issues. On follow ups with bunch of blood work and radiographs they said left kidney is shot with 20% function and should be removed! (See the radiographs on which they confirmed/determined this diagnosis apparently). I was wondering if you can tell what's going on in these images? He has no symptoms.
Avatar m tn s doctor has concluded that he has a mild case of MPGN as well. His doctor decided to hold off on the biopsy because the proteinuria and hematuria have become "trace" amounts, so he doesn't think he'd prescribe steroids anyway and would prefer to wait to biopsy.
Avatar f tn Your scans found nothing but if the presence of proteinuria and hematuria persist a cystoscopy may be indicated if all other tests showed within normal results. Also, a hemogram of the red blood cells may indicate the source of the bleed. Kidney inflammation may also present with hematuria. I do not think this is a fistula. Follow up with your gynecologist also to rule out involvement of gynecologic structures.
Avatar m tn I have very high proteinuria, and from what I understand this causes serum albumin levels to decrease. Right now my level of proteinuria is around 3 to 4 grams a day, and my serum albumin is slightly high at around 5.3 g/dL. Typically how high can my proteinuria get before I see a noticeable drop in serum albumin? If you are wondering, I do not have dehydration. I drink over 3 liters of water a day.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? The presence of protein in urine (proteinuria) is due to failure of kidney to filter the body fluids. This can occur due to infections to the kidney, hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, nephrotic syndrome etc. Although a single measure of protein in a urine sample has less significance. I would suggest that you get a 24 hour urine collection and estimation of protein in that. This is a reliable method to assess the condition.
Avatar f tn Hi. There is nothing AND I MEAN NOTHING that MS or TM can do directly that creates protein and "pus" in urine in and of itself. It is possible that not emptying your bladder completely can cause secondary problems. I'm about to cry from frustration and am uncomfortable with the blood, protein, etc coming and going. The "flu" stuff with swollen lymph nodes could be related, maybe, maybe not. It is important to know.
Avatar m tn You could drink more water to see if it goes away. Proteinuria is just one of the causes of foamy urine. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) (commonly prostatitis) and retrograde ejaculation are two common causes in men. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
