Proteinuria lab test

Common Questions and Answers about Proteinuria lab test

protein

Avatar f tn The doc I seen when the protein came back told me I was fine because the lab test came back that there was no protein. What I was wondering is why it would show on the doctors dip stick test but when the same urine is sent to the lab it would say there was no protein in it.
Avatar f tn t been checked out by a doctor in a few years but I do get blood work done every year through a health clinic. My last blood work was done a year ago and all my lab work was normal. My creatinine was 0.9 BUN 13, however the year before my creatinine was 0.6 and BUN 14. I know the levels are normal but I thought an increase from 0.6 to 0.9 was a big jump.
Avatar m tn What exactly are the abnormal lab values that have lead to the diagnosis of MGUS and Proteinuria? Lab indicators of too much protein in blood and urine? If I am understanding correctly, they have no symptoms (other than possible tingling/numbness with MGUS), are not generally serious conditions, and are found quite secondarily of other lab tests. When you say, "...have felt like everyone else", do you mean muscle/bone pain, fatigue, and never feeling well again?
Avatar f tn Without an review of history, physical exam and lab results, I can’t give you an exact diagnosis or treatment plan. Pre-eclampsia is diagnosed in a pregnant woman by fulfilling two criteria: high BP (2 separate readings taken at least 4 hours apart of 140/90 or more) AND proteinuria (300 mg of protein in a 24-hour urine sample). Among other things, blood pressure and urine protein are checked at prenatal visits.
Avatar f tn s urine 3 days after the first test, keep it in the refridgerator for the day and bring it in to his office when they opened at 5PM to have it sent to a lab to be re-checked. This result was also 2+. We were called into the office and advised that my son has proteinuria and that he has to get further tests in both his urine and blood and then most likely see a kidney specialist and possibly have a renal biopsy done. Of course, I'm very concerned over this.
Avatar m tn I have very high proteinuria, and from what I understand this causes serum albumin levels to decrease. Right now my level of proteinuria is around 3 to 4 grams a day, and my serum albumin is slightly high at around 5.3 g/dL. Typically how high can my proteinuria get before I see a noticeable drop in serum albumin? If you are wondering, I do not have dehydration. I drink over 3 liters of water a day.
Avatar m tn I told my doctor and he did blood work and took a urine sample to check for protein. Both test came back normal. What could be causing the foamy urine. Its not the toilet, its the same in everyone that I use. Any one have any ideas what could be causing this ?
Avatar f tn But the few times they have sent the same urine samples that come back with protein on the dipstick to the lab the lab results always say no protein present. What would cause that? Also could kidney stones from years ago have left damage in my kidney causing this also?
Avatar m tn Hi there, I have always had bubbles in my urine, at least for the last 8 years. Recently I went to the doctor for a urinalysis because I read about the correlation between kidney disease and proteinuria. I'm unsure as to whether my bubbles are caused by protein. My test results indicated that no proteins were present in my urine specimen. My creatinine serum is 1.0. My GFR is 97.6 ml/min/1.73 msg. I'm wondering- will my GFR hold steady in the 90's?
Avatar m tn if pus cells in urine microscopy exam 10-12 and the albumin strip test negative. Can I give a slight trace for albumin in my report due to the presence of pus cells?
Avatar m tn How are you? Proteinuria is an abnormally high amount of protein in the urine. Proteins from the blood can escape into the urine when the filters of the kidney, called glomeruli, are damaged. These are the most common causes: high blood pressure, infection, reflux nephropathy, diabetes, glomerulonephritis or minimal change nephritis. The first goal of treatment is to treat the underlying cause. It is important that anyone with proteinuria is monitored regularly.
Avatar n tn You may have proteinuria. It just means that some of the proteins you've ingested are being pushed out of your body as waste. Well, you'll most always have some protein in your urine, as trace amounts of protein are excreted in your urine as part of normal urine production. The concern is when you have TOO MUCH protein in your urine. This is a symptom known as proteinuria. How can you tell when you have too much protein in your urine?
Avatar n tn Hi, I treated the Hep C 3A 10 years ago with Peg-interferon and ribravirin and was cleared. I now have proteinuria etc. I went to a nephrologist and he sent me through a whole bunch of blood and urine tests, they came up with a monoclonal IgG protein which might cause MM but I feel it is from Hep C. I was negative for Cryo but feel Lab Corp didn't do the test right. Have you heard of anyone who has a case like mine? Thanks Hope all is well with you.

Avatar n tn Hi i am 32 female i had a Hysterectomy a little over a year ago with many Complications i still have my Ovaries. anyway for tha past year i have had a many test s showing that my protein in my urine are very hi ? plus i get up through the nihgt to pee at least 4-6 times a night and about every 6 months i get a very strong urine smell but after all the test they still say there is nothing worng and my levels are not high enough yet to send me to a speacilist?
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? The presence of protein in urine (proteinuria) is due to failure of kidney to filter the body fluids. This can occur due to infections to the kidney, hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, nephrotic syndrome etc. Although a single measure of protein in a urine sample has less significance. I would suggest that you get a 24 hour urine collection and estimation of protein in that. This is a reliable method to assess the condition.
Avatar m tn Don't worry about it unless/until the doctor says there's a problem. I'm not a doctor but he's probably testing you for postural proteinuria as opposed to persistent proteinuria. From what I've read apparently it's possible to have protein in your urine while standing up and none while you're lying down. It's supposed to be fairly common for young people to have and they normally outgrow it.
Avatar f tn Is lupron depot birth control 3months shot 3.75mg causes proteinuria. Please advice I m 37yrs old and got left ovary n both fallopian tubes removed as per my gynecologist toke lupron depot 3.
1973666 tn?1325964688 I am concerned about protein in my urine. I am scheduled to see my doc in 2 weeks for a urine test. When i urinate into the toilet, sometimes I get bubbles sometimes I don't. Sometimes the bubble disappear immediately sometimes they are there for a few minutes, or maybe even longer. Bubbles are only on surface and never really build or tower-up where I am urinating. I ate a bowl of oatmeal this morning with a glass of filtered ice water, and a cup of coffee.
Avatar f tn According to your test results, your kidney disease has been CKD3-4, how much is your proteinuria, and how much is creatinine?
Avatar f tn His blood and urine was tested and came back normal apart from slight proteinuria and elevated ESR.
Avatar f tn Sorry if I posted this under the wrong topic, nothing else seemed to fit for my question.Anyway this morning I did a at home 10 panel urine test and it showed a trace of protein in my urine. My ph. was around 6.5 and everything else was negative or "normal".What I have found so far online is that stress can cause protein in the urine if there is no disease like kidney problems or diebetes, which I don't think I have.So is protein in the normal okay for me?
