Avatar n tn ll most always have some protein in your urine, as trace amounts of protein are excreted in your urine as part of normal urine production. The concern is when you have TOO MUCH protein in your urine. This is a symptom known as proteinuria. How can you tell when you have too much protein in your urine? Avatar n tn Excess protein in the urine is called as proteinuria and usually it is albumin that is lost through urine. Some protein is normal in the urine. A 24 hour estimation of protein loss in urine would be optimal to estimate the level of proteinuria. Conditions which can cause proteinuria are nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, dehydration, collagen vascular diseases, strenuous exercises, diabetes mellitus, infections, multiple myeloma etc.
Avatar n tn Proteinuria describes a condition in which urine contains an abnormal amount of protein. Proteins from the blood can escape into the urine when the filters of the kidney, called glomeruli, are damaged. Inflammation in the glomeruli is called glomerulonephritis, or simply nephritis. This may be due to medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and other forms of kidney diseases.
Avatar n tn Anyone else have this-it means protein in urine i believe and i have a complex kidney cyst . is this a serious thing.

You need to consult a doctor, who will examine you. He will ask for a urine analysis and a culture of your urine to start you on the appropriate antibiotic.Consult a doctor if you are anxious. In the meantime consume plenty of oral fluids. Avatar f tn every time I go to the doctors office almost always when they do a urine test it comes back with bacteria or protein in it. But when they send it off to a lab it shows all is fine. This has happened so many times and I have been prescribed medications for it so many times that I developed an allergic reaction to one. Why would this thing happen with my urine so everytime? Also it happens no matter if I use mid stream or not.

Avatar n tn However, persistently foamy urine can be a sign of protein in your urine (proteinuria), which requires further evaluation. Large amounts of protein in urine may indicate a serious kidney problem. If you're concerned about foamy urine, consult your doctor. He or she may recommend a urine analysis, which can detect protein in urine. If protein is detected in your urine, your doctor likely will recommend additional tests to determine the cause.
Avatar m tn What could be causing the foamy urine. Its not the toilet, its the same in everyone that I use. Any one have any ideas what could be causing this ?
1973666 tn?1325964688 I am concerned about protein in my urine. I am scheduled to see my doc in 2 weeks for a urine test. When i urinate into the toilet, sometimes I get bubbles sometimes I don't. Sometimes the bubble disappear immediately sometimes they are there for a few minutes, or maybe even longer. Bubbles are only on surface and never really build or tower-up where I am urinating. I ate a bowl of oatmeal this morning with a glass of filtered ice water, and a cup of coffee.

Avatar f tn does proteins will be shown in urinary infection always...........if so why?all urine with pus cells more than how much will show urine proteins usually?
Avatar m tn Persistently foamy urine can be a sign of protein in your urine (proteinuria), which requires further evaluation. Large amounts of protein in urine may indicate a serious kidney problem. In your case it appears to have been ruled out. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and retrograde ejaculation are 2 other possibilities. In men, the most common source of the infection is the prostate gland (prostatitis). Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn I am 7 months pregnant and my protein in my 24 hr urine is 964. I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, but being controlled with insulin. Also, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am currently taking levodopa and adalat xl and my blood pressure is controlled with restricted activity (140's/80's). However, when I walk short distances ie: bathrrom or kicthen my blood pressure shuts up to 160's/90's and above. What should be my next step medically?
Avatar f tn We were called into the office and advised that my son has proteinuria and that he has to get further tests in both his urine and blood and then most likely see a kidney specialist and possibly have a renal biopsy done. Of course, I'm very concerned over this. My son appears to be in excellent health, is very atheletic and his intial bloodwork was fine. No blood was found in his urine.
Avatar f tn You may also need 24 hours urine test, random protein to creatinine ratio to check the kidney status and a serum and urine protein electrophoresis test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Sometimes, some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly. I suggest you to discuss these investigations with your urologist and get them done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn after having urine test there was blood and protein present in my urine after ultra sound they found a shadow on my left kidney and i had a sistoscopy results were normal now i am going for a cat scan .i ca not see blood in my urine but tests show i have microscopic amount of blood in my urine and infection has been ruled out.what could be wrong with me.?
Avatar m tn s glomeruli has a problem, larger particles than usual may pass through. Heavy and persistent proteinuria may indeed result in hypo-albuminaemia which presents with ankle swelling, abdominal pain and breathlessness. The exact numbers depend on a variety of factors such as medical history, symptoms present and how the kidney functions- the creatinine and GFR levels. Proteinuria in excess of 3.5 g per day warrants further evaluation by a kidney specialist to rule out nephrotic syndrome.
