Avatar m tn ) meal 5 6-8 ounces of chicken and some greens. meal 6 protein shake with skin milk. I have also at times drank 6 protein shakes a day to get cut more and just eaten some fruit with each to supplement my diet . Try muscle milk. Along with heavy weight training don't forget to do 30 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week. Drink alot of water and get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Avoid stress or find healthy ways of dealing with it. Be good to yourself.
Avatar n tn s no doubt a good quality protein supplement will help build bigger muscles -- the best is a good whey protein isolate, but there might be a reaction to the dairy -- but yes, you might pay a price. It depends of what you prefer, big muscles or health. The workout is fine, but taking any supplement that exaggerates intake of any nutrient so you get bigger muscles from that workout could lead to problems way down the road.
Avatar m tn Well, I know you say you don't have time to get to the gym, but that is what will boost your appetite and help build the muscle you're looking for. Even if you can't do it regularly, try to at least go for a jog around your block once or twice a week or do workout videos (like the well-known P90X videos) that are quick to whip you into shape at home. As for meal plans, combining complex carbs and protein is your best bet for gaining muscle.
1269982 tn?1271173219 If this is not the case, the protein meal shakes may have something to do with your weight gain. Protein shakes are actually not good for weight loss and are used primarily to gain body mass which may then be converted into muscle. Also certain brands of protein shakes actually have a high level of carbohydrates in them which could result in your weight gain.
Avatar m tn Body builders state that you need to build muscle that is why you need the protein. You will need a little extra but not double your weight. Too much consummation of protein and if the body does not use it, it will store it as fat. The side effects of too much protein are taxing to the kidneys. The only way you lower your cholesterol is if you are eating protein source foods that lower it, such as eggs, fish, chicken, nuts, and seeds.
Avatar f tn I know, today most all women and teenagers ask "how to loose weight" but because of my genetics, I'm very small. I've tried gaining weight, and eating more food, but it won't stick. I'm 16 years old, and I know I'm not done growing. and to be honest, I don't really want to get fatter, I just want to gain some healthy weight. I know exercise can help me get in shape, but I don't have enough calories to burn to do exercises.
Avatar m tn I am 18 years old and have been training for over 2 years and have always used either protein shakes or protein bars to supplement my lifts. I have been using the Muscle Milk to help me to gain muscle mass as I am going to be playing Rugby at the college level this fall. I am okay with switching to another product, but am just wondering why I experience this type of reaction after taking it.
Avatar f tn Aw, I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. I, too, have chronic pain and have had it for over 20 years. I won't lie to you and say it'll get any better, unless you're on some awesome pain meds, of course, or you get that miracle blessing of it totally disappearing!
Avatar m tn m willing to work alot harder (and drink more protein shakes) but gotta remember to recover/ dont wanna gain fat/ lose muscle... just need some weekly exercise/protein shake routine advice.. Thanks!
Avatar f tn ve been having SlimFast shakes, about 200 calories each, I mainly consider them nutritional protein shakes as they have a lot of protein and vitamins/minerals. I used to have cereal or toast for breakfast and was hungry soon later and was not able to function very well. But having a shake for breakfast, it really stops the hunger for hours and I'm able to function very well.
Avatar n tn I think in general, increasing the amount of fat and protein in your diet (preferably unsaturated fat and lean protein), portion size, and carbohydrates, you will easily put on weight/bulk up. Unless you have some kind of underlying thyroid issue, I don't see why milkshakes and a larger diet wouldn't help you out. I doubt you are suffering from malnutrition, but if you are, remember it's important to see a doctor/nutritionist to see what your nutritional deficits are. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn m trying to eat much more healthier then I didn with my first and exercise more. Does anyone know if protein shakes are ok/Safe to have while pregnant.
Avatar n tn Ketoisocaproic Acid Calcium Guanidinoprionic Acid Creatine Magnesium Chelate Beta-Alanine Ethly Ester HCl Creatine Monohydrate L-Tryosine Ethyl Ester HCl Evodiamine Caffeine Anhydrous, and Vinpocatine I have looked at forums about this stuff, and everyone says it works to build muscle quickly. Many are gaining 3-5 lbs a week, and they have a lot of energy, feeling like they could run marathons, during their workout.
Avatar f tn You have no reason to be drinking protein shakes at all. Walking isn't an exercise that requires additional protein, so you're just adding useless calories. Most Americans eat too much protein, not too little. If you were working out with resistance training, a shake might help put on muscle quicker, but if you're trying to lose weight, there's absolutely no purpose in protein shakes. And when you say non-fat foods, what do you mean?
522699 tn?1250590716 There are many home exercises that you can do. the idea to build muscle is to push yourself to muscular fatigue. Personal trainers are much better at pushing you harder than you can yourself, but just push yourself as hard as you can. Make sure you have a sufficiently accurate diet to help which means no cupcakes for pre-exercise food..LOL. Protein will help rebuild muscle but you must work it out in order for the protein to rebuild it.
Avatar f tn m going to ask my doc if this is safe but wanted to know if any of you ladies knew the ans? Is it safe to drink protein shakes while pregnant ??
Avatar f tn Do any of you ladies use protein powder for protein shakes? If so, which kind do you use? I bought the chocolate Special K brand protein shake but after reading the label more carefully I am not sure this is safe to drink. I was hoping to find a premade protein shake or a powder that mixes easily with chocolate milk. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
