Common Questions and Answers about Protein powders with creatine

protein

Avatar n tn I would recommend that you consume 30-40 grams of high quality protein, ideally coming from a mix of whey protein and milk. This can best be done by mixing a scoop of whey protein along with a cup of skim milk. I also suggest to use whey concentrate not isolate! Whey is high in the BCAA. This is a good meal before your workout! Consume this mixture about 1 hour before your workout 1 cup Skim Milk, 1 Scoop Whey Protein Mix these two ingredients together.
Avatar f tn Nuts and seeds, roasted edamame beans, protein bars (pick bars with at least 10 grams of protein and no more than 30 grams of carbs), protein shakes. I like whey protein concentrate Whey protein concentrate, NOT protein isolates Protein isolates are proteins stripped away from their nutritional cofactors. There are three problems with that... All isolates are exposed to acid processing. Your body cannot assimilate proteins in isolated form.
Avatar m tn This sounds like a question asked in a different forum, but the real question to be answered is, why are you taking creatine? I believe when this question was asked before, one responder mentioned one person suffered anxiety after taking it. Not much of a sample, but the only reason to take creatine, really, is if you're competing professionally and this will help you to do better.
19024797 tn?1471291132 Soy protein powders should not be used, as they can interfere with absorption of thyroid medication. Other protein powders should be okay, if used in moderation. It's best to talk to your doctor... Cytomel is not known to cause bloating/gas issues.
973741 tn?1342342773 When I managed a health food store that had a juice bar, we made our protein shakes largely with high quality protein powder by very reliable companies, very high quality organic soy milk, and threw a banana in with it. Tasted great. Or we used Spirutein, which had more sugar in it but was still pretty healthful all around.
Avatar f tn But there are a lot of options for protein powders, even vegan protein powders, and some of them are really tasty, so they are good options.
Avatar m tn In fact, a guy I was lifting with was on creatine as his only supplement combined with his regular diet and I was on a high protein diet, and taking protein supplements. I got bigger and stronger than he did. (He started off stronger than I was and I caught him and passed him. Im not sure of side effects, but really there are side effects to almost everything, but I'd guess creatine is pretty safe.

Avatar m tn I am a 30 year old male. I work odd hours, eveevenings and nights. So I get to the gym quite often at 1 AM or 2 AM and when I can fit it in.I finally broke down and got a pre-workout with creatine in it because I just can't get all my responsibilities done and fit in the gym also.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, I take around 1200mg of lithium carbonate a day for the past 4 years. I was diagnosed with Bi polar type 2. I'm curious If I can keep taking creatine, and have diet with increased protein. I know lithium can tax the kidneys if your dehydrated, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this type of encounter. My doctor isn't too worried yet about it since I've been on it a short time. Lastly does anyone know if taking lithium long term degrades your kidneys in general.
Avatar m tn To answer your questions, you can eat regular food to get the protein you need without using the supplements. Eggs and milkshakes (with skim milk) give you additional protein as the same as the protein shakes. The recommended dosage of protein is 1g per kg of weight. Body builders state that you need to build muscle that is why you need the protein. You will need a little extra but not double your weight. Too much consummation of protein and if the body does not use it, it will store it as fat.
Avatar m tn ve been working out (only about 2 months) but was wondering which is better if any 1) Whey or 2) Creatine or 3) Both or 4) none.

Avatar m tn I must add that I am a very active recreational athlete (mainly heavy weight-lifting 4 times a week and running 2 - 3 times a week for 30 - 45mins). I also take protein supplements (about 70g whey protein) with about 2g of creatine monohydrate daily. I do not take any other supplements and have never dabbled in steroids or diuretics. Do I need to worry about my BUN and creatinine levels or is this normal for an athlete such as myself?
Avatar f tn I would also use the whey protein as like a drink with a meal to supplement what I was eating.
Avatar m tn There is some concern that combining creatine with caffeine and the herb ephedra (also called Ma Huang) might increase the chance of having serious side effects such as stroke. Avatar f tn If your not working out your body will store the protein and make you fat. Protein can be found in nuts and beans with rice to make a complete protein. But to answer your question yes it's safe just as long as there isn't any added chemicals.
Avatar m tn I read whey protein was good for the liver... guess not. I drink GNC s whey protein for break fast. Once every other day. My last results were good. I did not take creatine though.
Avatar m tn Let me preface this by saying I was a collegiate athlete, so my tolerance for workout stress is pretty high. I can't say that I know anything about the brand you are using but I will share my experience. I also use whey protein, the exact type is the GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. It has worked really well since I don't get to eat as properly as I should with work and school. I stack that with GNC's Amplified Creatine and Glutamine powder.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of good protein powders on the market that are not meant for "muscle building", but protein is the building block for muscle and muscle burns fat. Exercise also helps build muscle, but if you do the right ones, you won't "bulk up". I often use, both, Greek yogurt and protein powder in my smoothies. The yogurt gives you and extra amount of protein, plus calcium, vitamin B12, etc.
