Avatar m tn In fact, in one study those who used artificial sweeteners experienced a 500% increase in belly fat stores, while the group who used no artificial sweeteners experienced no weight gain at all. Your body doesn't store protein the same way it stores fat and carbohydrates. You need to consume the amount of protein that your body requires in a day. You need protein to maintain your muscles, skin and other organs. Proteins are also essential to build and repair cells.
Avatar m tn Complan drinks are also free from artificial colours, preservatives and sweeteners, while also being gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians. If you type Complan in the address bar, information will come up about the product. Many years ago you could only get one type that was mixed with milk or water, but now there are different flavours available. If you are not able to buy this in your country, you may be able to purchase it through the internet.
Avatar m tn You don't mention if you take Isolate or concentrate! I suggest using concentrate! Whey protein concentrate, NOT protein isolates Protein isolates are proteins stripped away from their nutritional cofactors. There are three problems with that... All isolates are exposed to acid processing. Your body cannot assimilate proteins in isolated form. Due to over-processing, isolates are deficient in key amino acids and nutritional cofactors.

11028904 tn?1414689882 What works best is low carb, moderate protein and balance of calories from fats like olive oil, butter, avocado, coconut oil (stay away from margarine or high omega 6oils). Typical meal would look like green or non starchy veg with meat/fish/eggs and healthy fats. Stay away from starchy and sugary stuff like pasta, bread, rice, flour, etc. limit fruits to rare treat.
Avatar f tn You have no reason to be drinking protein shakes at all. Walking isn't an exercise that requires additional protein, so you're just adding useless calories. Most Americans eat too much protein, not too little. If you were working out with resistance training, a shake might help put on muscle quicker, but if you're trying to lose weight, there's absolutely no purpose in protein shakes. And when you say non-fat foods, what do you mean?
Avatar m tn Artificial sweeteners IMO are not healthy at all. They can do so much to you but no one will acknowledge this. I suffer from migraines. Any time I use an artificial sweetener you better believe I will have a migraine. There are so many different things that they do to your body. Not to mention the cancer in lab rats. You really don't have to cut out dairy. If it is something you really like. Try Lactaid tablets or try their milk products. Lactaid is one of the greatest things on earth.
Avatar f tn Products that use artificial sweeteners, such as diet sodas, sugar free gum, etc actually promote cravings for sweets..
Avatar f tn I was told though to make sure not to do alot of soy protein though since it can effect your hormones and the babies hormones. Also, avoid artificial sweeteners.
Avatar m tn I got off of Whey and started taking Egg Protein powders as my staple protein, and at night now I drink 1 Casein shake right before bed. After not taking Whey for a month or so the anxiety went away, in fact I decided to only take Whey right after workouts, but no other time, and the anxiety still has not come back. So yes, you are not crazy, yes there is a solution to get lots of protein without suffering the anxiety. GL guys, I will post my little protein chart at the bottom as a reminder.

684916 tn?1308686859 One Thanksgiving a young fellow brought over a pumpkin cheesecake made with artificial sweeteners. You can imagine where that cheesecake ended up after he left. No one wanted to touch it! Thank you again for the information. If anyone has anything else to add, I'm happy to learn more about this topic.
Avatar f tn Most diet drinks contain a combination of artificial sweeteners and caffeine. Although artificial sweeteners and caffeine in moderation are generally considered safe during pregnancy, excessive consumption may prove problematic. Always talk to your doctor if you have specific concerns about the safety of beverages during pregnancy.

1536593 tn?1292557199 Definitely stay away from diet soda and all sources of artificial sweeteners. It's not the brand name that's important here, it's what's in the product. Likely, you're like me and this is an intolerance. It's still necessary to AVOID this stuff in the future. There are a lot of bad health effects associated with artificial sweeteners--all of them. The primary one, of course, being that they are known carcinogenics.
Avatar n tn Stevia or Xylitol. Both natural sweeteners from plants, google it. Artificial Splenda is sucralose and it contains chlorine. No matter what they say, I would avoid it. It is currently even suspected to promote weight gain. Stick with nature.
579258 tn?1250649343 Generally I prefer "the real stuff" in moderation (and preferably organic) I always have regular granulated sugar, honey and agave nectar on hand but I don't use them *too* often. I typically don't add sugar to most things unless I'm having black coffee or plain oatmeal. I used to use Splenda, but for a few years now I've been trying to stray away from artificial sweeteners and foods containing artificial sweeteners as much as I can.
Avatar f tn No they're full of artificial sweeteners, sugars and fruit puree. Try making smoothies at home with actual fruit.. or just eating strawberries and bananas.
Avatar f tn Simple answer: It doesn't. Only if you believe that you are not taking in calories you would have consumed drinkiing an ordinary beverage. Like everyone else, I ocasionally drink a "zero calorie" beverage, however the artificial sweeteners used in these drinks all are slightly toxic and some believe these substances can cause neurological damage in large doses. Moderation is the message.
