Today i had the midwife and she said i had protein in my urine she's sending me to my gp tomorrow for further tests im 25 weeks pregnant what does it mean when you have protein in you're urine? I read that it could be early stages of pre clampsina or diabetes?

i went to my doc yesterday for a regular prenatal appointment, and he noticed that i have signs of protein in my urine. i have to go for another urine test today. what exactly does this mean? i know that it is a sign of pre-eclampsia and i have been swollen a lot lately. other then that i feel fine. do i need to be more cautious about what im eating??

Today I went to the doctor because I have been itching like crazy, but my doctor is straight up with me and he told me that I have protein and glucose in my urine. Protein in the urine in not a sign of pregnancy but can result in pregnant women who expereince a complication called preeclampsia (does not occur until 2nd-3rd trimester). Protein in your urine could indicate a problem with your kidneys. I do hope you have a follow-up with your doctor.

Hey, I had protein in my urine with my last pregnancy n had to do the 24 hr urine. Come to find out I had preeclampsia. This pregnancy they found a trace of protein n I had to do the 24 hr urine n blood work but I didn't have preeclampsia this pregnancy.

I had high protein 2 weeks ago. Tested again this week and it was normal. Most women test high at some point in pregnancy, doesn't mean anything unless you get more than one in a row. I hadn't eaten much 2 weeks ago, that was probably the reason it was high for me. Dehydration can be another reason. Odds are you have nothing to worry about, just take it as it comes. You may also need 24 hours urine test, random protein to creatinine ratio to check the kidney status and a serum and urine protein electrophoresis test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Sometimes, some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly. I had high BP and had to do a 24 hour urine test and came back with protein in my urine. As long as the protein is not accompanied by high BP or swelling, you're good. :) I'm actually being induced on the 14th at 37 weeks because of Pre E. Yesterday at my 1st prenatal visit, my OB said they found a small amount of protein in my urine, but said it could be due to dehydration, to drink more water. My midwife sent me to l&d to be monitored, in the end they just sent me home because my blood work wasn't elated enough for them to induce me. So I went to the hospital the other night and they told me there was 30 mg of protein in my urine. Is that a lot?? I had to do the 24 hour pee test and they are checking me for pre eclampsia.

I am a ftm due in July and have already been in the hospital once for contractions, I was kept overnight. Well today I was looking at my urine results from my appointment today. High protein in urine can be extremely dangerous for me and baby. Causing seizures or other heart problems. My protein is border line which means they caught it early. A sign of it is high BP which is how they knew to test my urine.
