1527017 tn?1291671470 However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones? Keytones present in the urine means your body is expelling excess sugar via your urinary tract. Are you diabetic or being considered a diabetic? Best to call your doctors office for an explanation.
Avatar f tn Protein in urine discovered on a microalbumin test may often be the earliest sign of diabetic kidney damage. Have you seen a Nephralogist to rule kidney issues or renal pathway infection? Try posting on the Kidney Disease & Disorders & Nutrition forums. Not much more I can help you with since your concern doesn't appear to be about diabetes. Good luck.
Avatar n tn OK, so my Dr said my urinalysis came back with trace of ketones and protein in my urine. He said its probably not significant and should check it again another day. Can someone tell me how common or uncommon that is? I hadnt eatin like like 16 hours before hand, except for alittle something maybe 20 minutes before I gave the urine sample. Could this have caused it? I was really worried since I get cloudy urine after eating dairy, and only after dairy.
Avatar n tn ll most always have some protein in your urine, as trace amounts of protein are excreted in your urine as part of normal urine production. The concern is when you have TOO MUCH protein in your urine. This is a symptom known as proteinuria. How can you tell when you have too much protein in your urine? One of the tell-tale signs of too much is when your urine is very foamy, frothy or bubbly. Another way to diagnose proteinuria would be through a urinalysis.
Avatar f tn she called me tonight to say that the result did not come out good... she said that there was a high amount of sugar in my urine.. i am a bit worried as i did not have this problem with my first pregnancy... does anyone know what this means???
Avatar f tn My husband has recently been referred to a urologist due to increased levels of protein in his urine. I am wondering if this can be caused by the fact that he drinks 4-6 pints of squash a day. I told him to mention this to the urologist but he is being stubborn and insists its not a possibility - maybe hes right but I just want to rule it out. Any ideas?!
Avatar n tn Even a mild urine infection can cause traces of protein in the urine ie protein is found in blood and with a uti it is common to have a small amount of blood in the urine - hence trace of protein as well. have a urine test done to outrule infection and have your kidney function measured by a simple blood test ;) re the altter ie blood test, even one poor egfr can also be the result of a uti!!!!! you need to show a steady pattern of poor egfr to indicate ckd.
Avatar m tn Docors ususally test for this by measuring microalbumin (which is a protein) in the urine. If this lab value becomes elevated, your doctor will typically start you on an ACE inhibitor, which will help slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy, along with good control of blood sugars. If you are having trouble maintaining good blood sugar levels, I suggest you go to your doctor and rework your medication and diabetes control plan. Keeping your sugars under control is crucial.
Avatar f tn Okay ladies so I went to the er Sunday night due to very bad back pain which they thought was muscle spasms but turned out to be a bladder infection. They test my urine telling me I had sugar in my urine but my numbers came back normal after asking me have I ever been diabetic well I'm having family members telling me I should call my ob and let her know cause this doesn't sound normal. Has this ever happen to anyone ??
1305271 tn?1320984748 Yesterday I went for screening/physical/drug test for a job and the said they found high levels of protein in my urine. Besides any of the common diagnoses, could this be a sign of pregnancy too?? About a month or 2 I thought I could be pregnant but the preg. test were both negative. Could there still be a chance I am and there is a problem??
4503521 tn?1400858886 Having small amounts of protein in your urine is common in pregnancy. It can happen for a number of reasons. It probably just means that your kidneys are working harder now that you're pregnant. It could also mean that your body is fighting a minor infection. Your midwife may send a sample of your urine to the hospital to check if you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). If you have a UTI, your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic that is safe to take in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn You may also need 24 hours urine test, random protein to creatinine ratio to check the kidney status and a serum and urine protein electrophoresis test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Sometimes, some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly. I suggest you to discuss these investigations with your urologist and get them done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
5889951 tn?1380316047 There are many other possible causes of protein in urine. Emotional stress, being exposed to cold or heat, fever, and strenuous exercise are some of the temporary conditions that can cause this problem, according to the Mayo Clinic.

10314769 tn?1409238579 I had a trace of protein in my urine and the Dr wasn't worried at all she said as long as its just a trace, its not a big, sometimes that happens from skin particles around ur vagina. They are only worried if they find a specific amount but she said a trace isn't anything to be worried about.they found a trace of protein when I was 36 weeks I'm 38 weeks now and just went to the Dr today and baby is healthy with no issues.
Avatar n tn I am 27 weeks pregnant with my third child. I had to have a urinalysis done yesterday and it showed that I have high levels of protein in my urine. I don't see my doctor for two weeks. My pregnancy so far has been pretty smooth. I have pcos and have had a cyst but that's it. Has anyone ever had high protein in your urine and if so what was the outcome?
Avatar f tn I had a little bit of protein in my urine at 16wks but the dr wasn't worried, at 20wks my urine sample had no abnormalities. I guess just try not to stress if your dr isn't worried. If you start to feel unwell just go back straightaway.
