protein

1527017 tn?1291671470 However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones? Keytones present in the urine means your body is expelling excess sugar via your urinary tract. Are you diabetic or being considered a diabetic? Best to call your doctors office for an explanation.
Avatar n tn Have you had a 24 hour urine for protein checked to make sure you are not loosing protein in your urine. Edema can occur in normal people and it can be related to sllt intake--the more sodium the more edema.

Avatar n tn I recently took a 24 hr urine test. I was told that I showed "some" protein in my urine and that the doctor would recommend me to an endocronologist. OK, should I be worried??!! What can cause this? Can it be treated? Is there a scale of the amount of protein one should have vs. not have? Could this also cause reproductive problems? I watch my diet and exercise. What could have brought this on? WHat steps should I now take to take charge of my health?
Avatar m tn He should be thoroughly assessed by a nephrologist. A 24 hour urine collection for quantitative urine protein, blood levels of albumin,BUN and creatinine levels, serum electrolytes, a complete blood count, a fasting blood sugar should be determined.A lipid profile should also be taken ( total cholesterol levels).A complete assessment of cardiac function should also be done. With regards to swelling of the feet,is the swelling something that causes a dent when you press on the swollen area?
Avatar f tn high blood pressure, spilling of protein into urine, headaches, swelling/edema, sudden weight gain. Most women have a "trace" amount of protein in their urine but when this arises above a certain level that suggests she may be developing preeclampsia. From the research I conducted, it was indicated that if the total content of protein in a 24h urine collect is greater than 300 mg (milligrams) then that is cause for concern.
Avatar n tn I also have had protein and hemosiderin in my urine. This all occurred after being treated for a nasty sinus infection that has cultured out many gram negative bacteria (Klebsiella 5X in the last year and one/half) and fungi (mainly Fusarium). I can't get rid of the sinus infection and these strange looking filaments in my urine seem to correlate with the sinus symptoms especially when it is draining.
Avatar n tn I have read this could mean you are losing protein in your urine? Is this the answer? If not then what else can it be with the tests I've had? To review, I'm worried about the fast pulse in my sleep that goes away after I wake up, and I'm worried about the bilateral periph. edema causes. Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn I've been having really bad pitting Edema in my legs/ankles/feet that keep getting worse. Its gotten so bad I have a hard time bending over, doing ANY activity and I keep falling (its also painful).
Avatar n tn One of the things I would consider is a kidney problem that causes you to spill protein in your urine. It's not very often that 31 y/o people have pitting edema. Are you overweight? That can also contribute. I would make sure you have had : a)an echocardiogram to evaluate the systolic function of the heart and b)consider a urine evaluation for protein Also, look into new medications and low thyroid.
Avatar n tn Do the tests I mentioned rule out all kidney, liver and heart diseases that could cause edema? What about other problems? Please help, what needs to be looked for? I know they say edema is non-specific, but combined with my symptoms it seems pretty specific to me!
Avatar f tn There is a huge list of what could be causing this ranging from infections to heart failure, so I would suggest seeing a doctor to check your kidney function and look for protein in the urine, listen to your heart and perhaps get an echocardiogram, and do a thorough history and physical.
Avatar f tn I have been having edema in my feet, legs and hands since Jan 2010. Ankles swelled to 3 times their size. Developed Carpal Tunnel in both wrists, I've seen 8 doctors, all with differing ideas, no answers. Am controlling the swelling now by eating No Salt. This has lead to more problems: 40 pound weight loss, muscle atrophy, random muscle cramps, frozen shoulder, locking elbows, Ph of 5.5, over active adrenal, cortisol very high, possible H. Pylori.
Avatar f tn Is this really part of fibromyalgia, and if not where should I look? I was told not to worry about the protein in the urine until it got over 300 mL/min. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I saw a Nephrologist approximately a month ago for protein in the urine. The Creatinine ratio is 888.9 and I understand it should be less than 30. About a week after seeing him, I started swelling significantly in the feet, ankles, and legs. I had an appointment to see him next week. However, his office called and changed my appointment to July 30th - more than another month. I've already been swelling for about three weeks.
Avatar m tn i am facing the foaming in my urine. after test the little protein is highlighted and some time the blood symptoms also there. but the problem is that i have no such pain in my kidneys or penis or testicles or any other place but because of protein in urine my body is shrinking.i am looking weaker then before and my hairs also falling rapidly. i have no idea what should i do? i go to doctor for checkup but it won't works. please any suggestion share with me. thanks.
8408613 tn?1414894692 So I went to the hospital the other night and they told me there was 30 mg of protein in my urine. Is that a lot?? I had to do the 24 hour pee test and they are checking me for pre eclampsia.
8408613 tn?1414894692 Wondering the same thing here. They been telling me I've had protein in my urine for about 3 months now.
Avatar f tn I have high levels of protein in my urine @ 35 weeks. anyone else? what has your doctor told you about it?
Avatar f tn I am a ftm due in July and have already been in the hospital once for contractions, I was kept overnight. Well today I was looking at my urine results from my appointment today. It showed I have 1+ for urine protein & trace for urine leukocyte esterase. My doctors nurse called me to discuss what it means but I missed the call. Help!! Has anyone else had this? I read it can be a sign of preclampseia!
Avatar f tn But he said there was protein in my urine so now I have to take the 24 hours urine test. Any thoughts on actually having preclampsia without having high blood pressure. I haven't changed in dilation or effacing at all since last week.
10314769 tn?1409238579 I am almost 38 weeks. My urine has been good until now where there showed a trace of protein in my urine. My doctor hasn't called me to tell me anything, I found out by seeing the results online. I'm guessing they are not worried and will just speak to me at my next week's appointment. I have also lost 6 pounds since last week. What is going on!
Avatar f tn High protein in urine can be extremely dangerous for me and baby. Causing seizures or other heart problems. My protein is border line which means they caught it early. A sign of it is high BP which is how they knew to test my urine.
Avatar f tn I had high BP and had to do a 24 hour urine test and came back with protein in my urine. As long as the protein is not accompanied by high BP or swelling, you're good. :) I'm actually being induced on the 14th at 37 weeks because of Pre E. I was diagnosed with it at 32 weeks and have been closely monitored since then.
9455625 tn?1412820762 Have protein(ketones) in your urine means you aren't eating enough, so your body is using up fat reserves as a source of energy, therefore meaning your body is in starvation mode
Avatar n tn Hi, When was the first time that you were diagnosed with diabetes? Are you taking any medications for the diabetes? Proteinuria may need further assessment. Were casts present in the urine? Are there RBC's in the urine significant enough for a hematuria ( >5 /hpf)? You may need blood tests to determine serum creatinine and BUN levels. Your glomerular filtration rate has to be ascertained. Discuss this with your physician and keep us posted regarding his advice.
Avatar f tn My son is 19 years old and for the last 5 years my son has had to get a physical so he can play football. Every year like clock work there was protein and some blood in his urine. Four years ago is protein level was at 300. Now its at 2000. About a years ago it was 2000 and our family doctor asked me to take my son to a Urologist. The urologist ran several years and was not sure why we were referrred. The urologist basically gave my son a clean bill of health.
Avatar f tn You're blood pressure would be up if you had pre eclampsia. That's what pre-eclampsia is high blood pressure. There are many reasons you could have protein in your urine. It's a problem if it's there in high amounts several times. If you have sex before your sample (even the night before) it can cause protein to show in your urine.
Avatar f tn At my last midwife appt at 36wks I had protein in my urine but normal bp. I also get pain in my bladder when baby moves like a sharp shooting pain, but no other symtoms. Is it a urine infection or something else? Has anyone else had a urine infection in the third trimester? The midwife sent a urine sample to be tested but havnt had the results yet.
