Protein in the urinalysis

Common Questions and Answers about Protein in the urinalysis

protein

Avatar n tn I had high protein 2 weeks ago. Tested again this week and it was normal. Most women test high at some point in pregnancy, doesn't mean anything unless you get more than one in a row. I hadn't eaten much 2 weeks ago, that was probably the reason it was high for me. Dehydration can be another reason. Odds are you have nothing to worry about, just take it as it comes. Good luck, and congrats on the baby!
Avatar f tn I am a ftm due in July and have already been in the hospital once for contractions, I was kept overnight. Well today I was looking at my urine results from my appointment today. It showed I have 1+ for urine protein & trace for urine leukocyte esterase. My doctors nurse called me to discuss what it means but I missed the call. Help!! Has anyone else had this? I read it can be a sign of preclampseia!
Avatar f tn You may also need 24 hours urine test, random protein to creatinine ratio to check the kidney status and a serum and urine protein electrophoresis test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Sometimes, some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly. I suggest you to discuss these investigations with your urologist and get them done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn The color of your urine is yellow/straw (normal) and the clarity is good. Everything else is in normal ranges as well. Talk to your doc to about the blood in urine if they have not already contacted you. I'm currently undergoing this (my urine is dark but I have no liver or kidney pain which is scary) and have to get a ct scan as my urinalysis also suggest that everything is normal. So they don't know what's causing the bleeding. I'll pray for us both. Let me know how it goes.
Avatar n tn As, you already have been on two rounds of ciprofloxacin, there might be no indication of infection, but sodium urate crystals indicate the presence of renal colic, as well as UTI. Also, change in the consistency of urine and presence of bubbles in it is indicative of UTI or STD. I would suggest that you visit a urologist and get a ultrasound abdomen with urine analysis and STD panel done. All the best.
Avatar n tn Hi, You must have microscopic hematuria if you do not observe the blood grossly in the urine.Microscopic hematuria refers to presence of rbc's in the urine detected through microscopic examination. This may be benign in origin. Engaging in heavy exercises prior to giving your urine sample may cause hematuria. History of intake of certain medications my also cause benign hematuria. Your previous history of repeated infections may alo contribute to the hematuria.
Avatar f tn A small amount of protein normally is present in urine and may be detected in concentrated urine. Many false positive protein tests occur, especially with alkaline urine. The protein test detects mainly albumin. Physiologic (prerenal) proteinuria may result from excessive muscular exertion, convulsions, or excess protein ingestion. Pathologic proteinuria may be prerenal (hemoglobinuria, myoglobinuria), renal (glomerular or tubular), or postrenal (urogenital hemorrhage or inflammation).
Avatar f tn Hi! Would like to ask regarding the result of urinalysis test. Below are the results: ROUTINE Color: Yellow Transparency: sI hazy Reaction: acidic 6.0 Specific Gravity: 1.015 Sugar: negative Protein: negative MICROSCOPIC Pus cells: 4-6/hpf RBC: 1-2/hpf Epithelial Cells: moderate Amorphous Urates: moderate Bacteria: moderate Am I positive for Urinary Tract Infection? Please help. Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn 040 is considered to be of concentrated urine. It indicates the presence of protein, which can appear in infections and kidney damage conditions. Presence of calcium oxalate is suggestive of stones in the urinary tract, but should be confirmed with an ultrasound and symptoms. Overall impression is urinary tract infection with or with out kidney stones. All the best.
1108194 tn?1378424522 t like the attitude of the one she saw for the physical. The second doctor calmed us down and said that protein in the urine can be caused by an infection anywhere in the body. 2 days later we saw the specialist and she confirmed that there no kidney problems and agreed that it could be an infection somewhere. 2 weeks later, she had an abscess on a tooth. Case solved. We had the urine tested again and it was normal.
987242 tn?1335490770 gross hematuria (blood that you can see in the urine), and microscopic hematuria (blood that is only seen when the urine is examined under a microscope). Both types can have serious causes. Diagnostic tests that may be performed include Urinalysis, Urine culture, X-rays of the kidneys, Cystoscopy, IVP, Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn After a week, I came back to recheck it, and everything is clear. No organisms in gram stain and had traces only in protein. I believe I am OK now. But I am quite curious whether it is really early gonorrhea or just UTI. As I browsed the net and read some articles, I have learned that gonorrhea is not gram positive cocci, it is gram negative.
489228 tn?1291531454 Wow that's a lot of factors to take into consideration. I think your MSK explains your hematuria. Septra shouldn't cause more protein in urine. UTI could cause protein in urine, however, protein caused by UTI can usually be cleared off quickly with anitibiotics. If there's a high level of persistent protein in urine, that may due to damage to the filter mechanism of the kidney. I am very surprised that your URO didnt seem concerned... How did you find out about the protein?
419126 tn?1242412170 Your doctor should do some blood work, to check for common abnormalities that often present with pre-eclampsia, or pregnancy induced hypertension. Protein in the urine does not diagnose this syndrome. Headaches that aren't relieved by Tylenol? Blurred vision? Pain in your upper right ribcage? Those are other symptoms. Swelling of the feet is common in virtually every pregnant woman. Swelling in the hands and face is more concerning. Hopefully, its nothing.
Avatar f tn Please help me evaluate my latest urinalysis taken 4 days after previous and before taking Macrobid: UA Color: Yellow UA Clarity: Clear UA Glucose: Negative UA Ketones: Negative UA Specific Gravity: 1.015 [was =<1.005] UA Blood: Small [was Trace-lysed] UA pH: 7.0 [was 5.5] UA Protein: Negative UA Leukocyte esterase: Trace UA Nitrite: Positive [was Negative]. I have have also had particles show up in urine. Have a bloated stomach where I feel too stuffed to eat, yet stools are normal/soft.
Avatar m tn One of these disorders, IgA nephropathy is characterized by painless hematuria (blood in urine) that presents during episodes of upper respiratory (colds) or gastrointestinal infection. This disorder is typified by the deposition of a protein in the vital kidney structures. This causes localized damage to microscopic kidney structures and can manifest as painless hematuria that is off and on. IgA nephropathy is confirmed after examination of kidney tissue obtained via a renal biopsy.
Avatar m tn If you are like me, you can feel the infection before much shows up on the specimen. But the next day I have it checked again, and then the numbers have climbed where they can detect an infection. You can take Azo-Standard or Pyridium for the discomfort. I take cranberry pills also, and it lowers my pH enough to overcome the infection lots of times.
Avatar n tn Your report suggests infection, because of the presence of bacteria and pus cells. Presence of protein in the urine analysis indicates kidney function, but the amount of protein loss through urione needs to be known to come to a conclusion. Get a urine culture for making the choice of antibiotic. Best.
Avatar n tn With regards to the foamy urine, this may signify protein in the urine. However, if you had a urinalysis done and this did not show anything, then this may be nothing to worry about. Protein in the urine or proteinuria is readily noted in a urinalysis. Drink plenty of water and fruit juices. A foamy urine may be also due to decrease in water intake or dehydration. Do discuss your concerns with your physician and also inform him of your urine's appearance.
6850426 tn?1385499085 BUN levels can increase with the amount of protein in the diet whilst low protein diets can cause low BUN levels. You should speak with your doctor with regard to the results of your test, but as you have been informed that there is no abnormality, then things are fine. As you have a positive blood result for rheumatoid arthritis, you should be getting medical help for this. RA is an autoimmune disorder and affects soft tissues as well as bones.
