I drink fat free or skim just because if you look at how much fat is in milk..it's disgusting even 2% except my bf just came home with two jugs if 1%...
I was wondering why can't I just drink skim milk to get that extra calories and protein instead of buying expensive protein powder? Does the effect similar? Thanks!
the basic (watered down) concept behind protein powders is that someone who is exercising and doing a lot of muscle building repetitions will require extra protein in their diet for muscle fiber synthesis. yes, skim milk has protein in it, but not to the degree that an isolated protein shake would. therefore, you would need to drink A LOT of skim milk to equal the protein and/or calories in a regular portion of a calorie-dense protein shake.
No one over the age of 2 needs the fat in whole or 2% Milk. Your still getting the same amount of protein, calcium, and vitamin D in the low fat milks that you are in the fatty milks.

I have been able to tolerate the pre-mixed Muscle Milk, but after 2 uses of the mix I have begun to experience an upset stomach and diarrhea after using the product. Ok, we'r back on track and starting over again. i'v been following suzanne somers plan for about 2 wks now. sticking to it pretty regularly. its easy because its all the foods i like but with freedom to guage my own portions. rules of thumb are: fruit alone on an empty stomach (breakfast or sweet snack) whole grains with no fat or protein (oatmeal & skim milk) meat-veg-oils-full fat dairy are ok together. this is majority of my meal and snack descripton avoiding her list of funky foods.

anywho so total of what like 782 calories so far for today so im hoping to eat at least another 700 calories but i dont know what in....i dont want to go make myself eat a whole big burger just to fill up the calories...but i cant force myself to eat three pounds of salad either i might throw up with all that food...so i dont know...maybe ill make myself a protein shake or something....either way...i dont want to eat unhealthy...
He said that the scans don't show any cause for this to be happening and it looks like it is curving in rather than the bone thinning in that area. At this point it isn't affecting my brain, so he wants me to repeat the scans in October and come back so he can see if there are any changes. Basically things high in fiber are smart carbs. I thinking that milk is a protein? Going with Skim or 1% is good. I have much to learn myself yet but I do know that I have been basically following the Canadian Food Guide which highly promotes whole grains.
