Avatar f tn If your not working out your body will store the protein and make you fat. Protein can be found in nuts and beans with rice to make a complete protein. But to answer your question yes it's safe just as long as there isn't any added chemicals.

19669595 tn?1482162708 Every time legumes like beans, Lentils and peanuts are combined with wheat, rice, or corn a complete protein is created and there are many good recipes on the internet that incorporate these into a tasty dish, where you might not otherwise like them by themselves. Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. This is what baffles me you see - I eat tons of protein - loads of lentils and beans in particular. I already eat upwards of 2000 cals per day and am putting on weight because of it. I am female so that's already over my RDA. Aside from work I spend a bit of time in the garden but otherwise don't find much time for exercise. I am eating all the things I can see suggested all over the Internet already and yet still find I am never energised.

Avatar f tn Hiya! I was wondering if somebody could give me some info, I have read many stories online that Soy is no good to have During Pregnancy or when TTC (I'm not Pregnant yet) Plus I'm not really sure what foods I can eat! I eat alot of Fruit & Veg, Pasta's, Lentils, Protein, Brown Bread, Water, - I don't eat Chocolate anymore, but I have occasionally had a Cake -_- Only because 2 weeks before my Period, I get cravings badly!
Avatar f tn That's probably because you need to detox your body. I have the same. Fresh fruits veggies and jello that's all I can eat during my first trimester. No need to worry they have all the nutrients we need.
Avatar f tn I agree with what super Sally wrote. Best option is to eat a low carb, moderate protein with balance of calories from fats, like olive oil, nuts, grass fed butter, etc. not sure beans and lentils are good for you, as this causes increase in sugar in blood from high carb content. Also don't be afraid to eat fats.
Avatar f tn A lot of the meat substitutes I enjoyed tasted terrible and made me sick. When I asked the doctor about it he said I needed a balanced diet of protein and it was especially important because I'm anemic.I started incorporating more lentils, soy, even eggs and fish to satisfy my mom. But one magical day, I started craving beef. I wanted a hamburger and I wanted it immediately. I was skeptical of the craving since I don't like beef.
Avatar f tn Beans, lentils, legumes, eggs...you can do some protein bars and protein shakes if you think you're not getting enough protein, you should probably ask your OB about recommendations. I drink protein shakes sometimes since I'm not a natural meat-eater and I'm in the third trimester when the baby's protein needs are pretty high.
Avatar f tn You may want to try something like deli-sliced turkey breast, very thin, as it may go down easier since it is paper thin and not like a chunk of meat. There are many ways to add protein to your diet ... cereal + milk is a protein, rice + beans is a protein, or you can add protein powder, etc. There's a couple vegetarian proteins that are natural and substituted for meat, but I'll have to look up the names of those again. Was going to do that for my mom and me as well.
