This guidelines for resuscitating infants born at this extreme prematurity vary from institution to institution. In terms of mortality, the vast majority of infants born at 23 weeks will not survive, and approximately 50% of infants born at 24 weeks survive.
Avatar f tn Great advice as always from the above poster. My mother is also diabetic and she gradually became a vegetarian. It has been so very good for her health. Her blood sugar is always great, her A1C levels are great. She also has autoimmune hepatitis and every time she has blood work her numbers keep getting better. Do what the above poster said, do as much research as you can and consult with a nutritionist. You have to know what foods are good for you since you have diabetes.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar f tn GFR lower than 100 but more than 60 persisting for 3 months along with protein in urine is considered as chronic kidney disease (CKD). In elderly people and in some infants, a GFR reading of 60-89 mL/min/1.73 m2 may be a normal finding. So, you need to get the GFR and urine albumin/protein tested for three consecutive months to know whether it is a normal finding in your case or kidney disease. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
1330108 tn?1333677304   While a mother’s breast milk can provide a large percentage of her premature baby’s needs, premature infants need more protein and calories than are naturally occurring in mother’s milk.  Through consumption of concentrated human milk protein, in the form of a human milk fortifier from 100% human milk, critically ill babies are able to get the nutrition they need to grow while being fed exclusively human milk.
639543 tn?1297027634 which is the main protein in bone and essential for its strength. The fragility of bone in OI is due to the collagen problems; it has nothing to do with the calcium part of bone, which is what shows up on X-rays. In the United States the corresponding society is the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (www.oif.org).

(I am still looking for data about this issue in adults.) http://books.google.com/books?id=pi1YAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA807&lpg=PA807&dq=casein+stool+curd&source=bl&ots=IbOrlA9ERg&sig=OwBH0DwvmogksS1vJO3X-hcM7wY&hl=en&ei=F7cASrChH4ustgfInrmPBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=7 http://books.google.com/books?
Avatar f tn My son, who is 7 months old, was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. The diagnosis was confirmed on Mar 10, 2014 and he was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Anyone have this happen with an infant? I'm trying to figure out what the next steps are in the event of an increase in fluid and pressure. He also is having to see a pediatric eye doctor to check the eye pressure in his eyes.
Avatar f tn In people with coeliac disease this immune reaction is triggered by gluten, a collective name for a type of protein found in the cereals wheat, rye and barley. It can occur at any age. There is some difference in symptoms in infants and adults. In babies, gut symptoms may develop after weaning onto gluten cereals. Other symptoms include muscle wasting in the arms and legs, a bloated tummy and irritability.
Avatar f tn It will remain in baby's system. Especially if you took them for more than 2 weeks. You need to let your OB know even if it leaves both systems because if you we're abusing them and taking them for a long period of time we can't diagnose the outcome. No judgement, but please for the sake of your innocent baby tell your Dr. You made the right decision to stop taking them. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn Here is a Q&A the answer is answered by world renound Dr Sears Q  My baby is ten and a half months old and has been exclusively breastfed since birth. She refuses formula and bottles defiantly. However, she will drink water, but only from a cup. Recently, she has stopped wanting to nurse, except once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I'd like to give her something other than water, especially at bedtime, to help get her through the night.
544684 tn?1240118000 Was she born premature or the females in the family petite? She is under the normal weight for her age, however, if she has been gaining weight at a steady rate (even if it has been slow) she maybe just small in stature. If not, then she would be underweight. Soy base formula is given to infants so she can have soy milk, soy yogurt, soy ice cream.
