Common Questions and Answers about Protein from meat

protein

Avatar f tn Hi Jean, the only thing I would say is stay away from red meat especially if it's not organic. I prefer to skip all together hormones or not. Just my preference.
Avatar f tn Yea I'd try to avoid the protein powder and get the protein I need from the food I eat. I'm a vegetarian so I get my protein from tofu and other foods made from soy, beans, nuts, and dairy products. You don't know all the ingredients in the protein powder so I'd ask my doctor about it.
Avatar f tn In fact, approximately 50 to 75 percent of calories from most red meats actually come from fat! Even a carefully trimmed cut of fine lean red meat probably derives about 50 percent of its calories from fat. No more Mickey D's Big Macs!!! Darn.
4378548 tn?1358554779 Is anyone else having to drink protein shakes? I don't eat a lot of meat (never have) or anything with protein, really. Im 15w4d and I'm always dizzy and weak and have no energy. I had an appt with my ob on monday and she suggested protein shakes because if my lack if meat eating. Is anyone else also drinking them and how is it working out for you?
Avatar f tn Peanut butter mushrooms and Greek yogurt are full if protein!!
Avatar f tn So I'm 10 weeks today and for the past week I have had a complete aversion to all meat. The smell and thought of it makes me nauseous, even chicken! Anyone ever have this before? If so how long until it passed?
7381903 tn?1391464888 What could this mean? I've been craving meat lately. I think that I'm low on something in my body.
11988597 tn?1438629414 I am 13 weeks pregnant and meat turns my stomach. I suffer from HG that I am on medication for but I still get nauseous at even the sight of meat! I also can't eat eggs. Since I have become pregnant, eggs taste different to me in a very bad way. I am worried about my protein intake now that I have basically become a vegetarian. Fruit and pickles have become my main source of nutrition. I am hoping as I am entering the second trimester that this will all change.
Avatar n tn t been able to eat any kind of meat. The texture alone makes me gag. But im not a vegetarian so I dont know much to eat healthy wise, and fried food gives me the worst heart burn. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Pneumonia episode 2-3 years ago. Intense stress over a long period of time from a senior design class 2 years ago. I started having all the symptoms right after I graduated.
Avatar f tn If your son will eat eggs then don't worry about meat protein for now. Do you think he would notice if you mixed tiny pieces of chopped meat into cheese pasta, or something like that, that you could hide it in? If he does and refuses to eat it, give up hiding meat in his meals. Don't want him to start distrusting all his food! Stay away from soy protein. Damages the gut and endocrine glands. My son is proof of this. Don't worry too much about getting more meat into him.
Avatar f tn All I wanted to eat for a while was fruit and cheese. I couldn't stand any sort of protein, no chkcken, fish or red meat. I started eating nuts like cashews, peanuts and pistachios. Those have protein in them so it will give you something. Or try making a berry smoothie and put some protein powder that is safe during pregnancy in it.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
Avatar f tn You can get protein from plenty of other sources. Nuts, legumes, and dairy products have plenty of protein in them. I was the same way for my entire first trimester and half of my second. I ate fish/seafood a few times a week (low mercury of course) and now I am actually able to eat more meat, although I still don't eat chicken much. Protein is found all over the place so don't worry about becoming deficient.
Avatar m tn My husband also has cirrhosis but I don't know much about the meds -- he has not been prescribed anything for ammonia because his levels seem to be under control. From a control stand point, as Bill1954 points out, it's important to stay away from red meat -- vegetable proteins and fish are the best sources of protein to help control ammonia. My husband has replaced much of his red-meat consumption with peanut butter, sardines, beans, and such.
Avatar m tn Combining whey protein and creatine leads to increased lean muscle tissue. That said, creatine could cause muscle cramping, dehydration, nausea, diarrhea. I suggest taking Nutra Bio whey concentrate. You can google them.
7540649 tn?1395719596 My midwife told me I need to get 100 grams of protein a day! I don't normally get anywhere near that much. Normally I don't eat meat every day, so I would be lucky to get 20 grams... I can't eat peanuts, beans, soy, or pork. Eggs make me throw up right now (I used to really like them). Any ideas for how I can get closer to 100 grams of protein in a day? I'm making an effort to eat meat more, but I'm not that used to it and it isn't sitting well.
14616445 tn?1435501145 I took bites of it when I could and tried to get protein from other sources. I also found some meats were better than others. I couldn't stand a chunk of steak, but it was ok to have a pasta meat sauce or chili. I have no problems with any of it now at 27w.
Avatar f tn I was the same way and I ate apple and peanut butter and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also ate a ton of dairy (cereal w milk, cottage cheese, cheese, cream cheese). You can also buy protein powder from GNC (check w OB first) and mix it in smoothies or get it in smoothies from Jamba Juice or another smoothie place. I also ate lots of yogurt which is also good for the tummy.
4776875 tn?1359048764 I eat breakfast then still feel sluggish. I need something high in protein, but not packed with meat. I eat a little big of chicken but that's eat. I really need some protein to get going. What are you favorite sources of protein?
Avatar m tn Before trying this diet, copy it off and review with your dr. No we don't need meat but we do need protein which can come from nuts and cheese. I think you need to discuss the diet because of the fruit and the need for monitoring when you take in less calories with insulin. It may be a great diet!?
Avatar f tn Is it easier to lose weight being a vegetarian? I am trying to stay away from red meat, or meat in general. I eat dairy products and vegetarian foods. I really don't miss the meat. If anyone knows of a vegetarian weight loss diet I would really appreciate it. S.
14652685 tn?1435693430 ve lived with this issue for most of my life however I normally maintained my protein intake via a diet high in bio-available protein sources (Red meat and fish due to their acidic nature along with some plant based sources) however, due to financial hardship I can no longer afford the diet I need to stop my body from eating my own muscle tissue. It's beginning to affect not only my skeletal muscles but also my heart and other internal muscle structures.
Avatar f tn Do you guys eat deer meat and squirrel? I usually do but now that I'm pregnant idk if I'll be in the mood for it. Obviously I'd make sure it was very clean and cooked all the way, I just wanted to see if it was something you guys craved or didn't care for during pregnancy.
