Cheddar, American, soft cheeses that are processed and state pasteurized are ok as well, like ricotta or cottage cheese. It's the cheeses that aren't pasteurized to have bacteria killed that we need to stay away from. The packages will state of the cheese is made with pasteurized milk.
Avatar f tn m on a very strict nutritional program and typically eat two (6 ounce) servings of meat (chicken breast or eye of round) and 1-2 whey protein shakes per day. Different things I've read says that meat is to be limited to 5 ounces per day and no whey. Does anyone have any information on how our protein levels are reached with these limitations? I cannot eat nuts and one can only eat so many egg whites in a day.

Avatar m tn Well the pains aren't really coming from your liver so to speak because it has no nerves inside it to sense pain. Most likely it's a form of IBS which hep patients frequently get. Try eating very bland food and things you know don't bother you for a while and see how that goes. Stay away from fried foods too.
Avatar f tn t meant to eat a meat heavy diet anyway. you can get protein from other sources such as nuts and beans. Peanut butter sandwiches and things like that work great. I'm a server and I carry a baggie full of almonds and peanuts in m apron to snack on (: And then stock up on other healthy foods like veggies and fruits, and eat small amounts of meat and fish when you can.

Both are human grade foods that rate 5s on the "dog food advisor." My dog does have a pork allergy, and I do have to be careful on what he eats.
Avatar n tn I differ with above in that I don't believe one size fits all. Some people are constitutionally suited to a high meat diet, others aren't. It's not the food as much as how well you digest the food that's the key. While simple carbs such as white flour turn to sugar quickly and then to fat if not burned quickly, whole carbs such as whole grains can be fine.

Protein foods like meat, eggs, nuts and some pulses are slow release energy foods. Drinking water or herbal teas (without sugar and milk) will also help.

As for protein foods, keep in mind some people don't do well without meat, and B12 is hard to get without it. And that's important for energy. But beans of all kinds are wonderful sources of protein, as are nuts.
