Avatar m tn The reason that your BG raise after you eat the so called High protein bars because actually those bars contain a fairly large amount of sugar which obviously will raise your BG. Please double check the amount of sugar in those bars. I eat so much protein all days long, and I have NEVER have my BG raised. My hbA1C is consistenly less than 5.6% for the last 12 months , I have been a 20 year plus T2, for the last 18 months I don't need any Diabetes Meds nor insulin shots.

Your body doesn't need excess carbs (or excess anything for that matter) So, remembering this helps me stay away from sugar as much as possible. Eat more protein and you'll see that eventually you'll feel no need to eat so much carbs.

Avatar f tn Protein bars are mostly sugar. They're intended to be used in conjunction with a very strenuous workout -- otherwise it's just a candy bar with some protein added. The more protein in them, the worse they taste. Listen to Julie and eat food, not candy bars.

I dont like most of the "nutrition" bars out there with the chocolate coatings and food coloring. But after a friend recommended them, I tried the salba bars and I was pleasantly surprised. They're really, really yummy and my son is practically addicted to them (not to mention me).

My hemoglobin and bilirubin were always low. I brought the red cell count back up using chelated iron supplements. My protein intake was way below USRDA. I've found the cheapest, most efficient way is buying Premier Nutrition's Protein Bars. A 2.5 ounce bar gives you 30 grams of protein.

When doing my two and a half hour fast walk, I eat a Macro bar -- not as high in protein and not as hefty, but the protein comes from food rather than whey protein concentrate and it's sweetened with brown rice syrup, which is a complex sugar and breaks down much more slowly than simple sugars.
Avatar f tn Southbeach and special K make high protein bars that have 10-12 gms protein and are low in calories. I also eat string cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, and snack on salted cashews. I eat vegetables with salt, and fat free margarine. You can eat the whole package. It seems the more protein, less sugar plus I do take fiber, I feel better diet wise. They also make antioxidant fiber bars you could snack on. Good luck.

Definitely no sugar but it helps to walk for at least 15 min after each meal. Watch out with fruits Iuusually count them as my carb when I would snack. I had GD last pregnancy and it was a challenge but I stuck to my diabetic diet and was able to control it. The great thing about it is I only gained 26 lbs total, unlike this time around I'm 30 weeks and have already gained 27!

I do this to keep from gaining weight since I eat so often. Again, eat slowly and you will fill full. Cheap is harder to do.

Avatar n tn , they will cause your blood sugar levels to spike. Insulin controls blood sugar levels so when your blood sugar levels spike, so do your insulin levels. The simple carbs are used up quickly, which will leave insulin levels high and you will get the feeling that you "crashed" (weak, shaky, lightheaded etc). It will then be necessary to eat more sugar to bring your blood sugar levels up again and it becomes a vicious cycle: sugar, increased insulin, requiring more sugar, on and on!!
