infection

Avatar m tn Hi, How are you sir? What other symptoms are present? Prostate enlargement happens to almost all men as they get older. The enlarged gland can press on the urethra and it can result to urination and bladder problems. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination, cytoscopy, and urine tests may be done also. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Do suggest this to your son -in- law so that prompt assessment of the prostate be done. An infection, enlargement or swelling of the prostate may help explain his symptoms. He may require a urinalysis and culture of prostate secretions to rule out an underlying infection. Also, transrectal ultrasound to view the prostate and exclude any underlying abnormalities may be necessary.
Avatar m tn In that circumstance, most men simply have to learn to live with their symptoms. Most men find that pretty easy to do, once they are convinced they have nothing that will ever harm them or their sex partners. This is probably where you are at this point, and I suspect this is the message intended by your urologist. For more information, I suggest you google CPPS (spell it out) and/or "chronic prostatitis".
Avatar n tn In general, the decision to initiate medication for the enlarged prostate (BPH) is guided by the severity of their symptoms consistent with an enlarged prostate such as frequent urination, difficulty initiating urination, weak stream, and frequent nighttime urination. Often these are evaluated by a patient’s response to a standardized set of questions that help to establish a threshold of symptoms that warrant treatment with medication.
Avatar m tn It is true that men with prostate cancer or prostate infection should get the doctors ok before trying prostate massage. Otherwise, prostate massage is a healthy way to maintain a mans prostate health. Prostate massage has been around for centuries, long before modern surgery snd chemotherapy.. Doctors today have moved away from prostate massage in favor of more modern treatments which are expensive and often leave the man impotent or dead.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone! I started having problems back in February. There was urinary problems(starting, pain after, testicvle pain, etc.) I went to drinking water & things got better. After a few days, things went back in the toehr direction. This time I got fatigued & nausea along with all the previous symptoms. I again went back to just water for drinking & things didn't get much better. I made a call to the doctor.
Avatar n tn I think you should have yourself examined by a urologist at the soonest time possible. The blood in the semen and the lump in the penile shaft may all be symptoms of infection (urethritis or epididymitis) in that area. That condition might not heal on its own so you really need to see a doctor promptly.
Avatar m tn 1) Even if rare would NAAT Urine pick up Chlamydia infection in prostate or does this test only approved for urethra infection? 2) Can Chlamydia bacteria survive or isolate itself this long in prostate and cause re-curring symptoms? Biofilm conerns. 3) Would there be other tests you would recommend to get to bottom of this? 4) Even if in prostate would not ejaculations infect urethra thus impossible for prostate to be infected and urethra not to be infected?
Avatar m tn Yes..it's a very, very long time. I've been to numerous hospitals..but no urologists...I don't have any money but I'm at a desperate point here and I'll do anything to get help. I would like to know what you guys think this thing could be and why it isn't going away. I'm HIV, Hep negative..negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea..I've been given Rocephin..azithromycin, doxycycline, treatment for trich, all numerous times.
Avatar n tn In general it is believed that asymptomatic men (which would mean without any symptoms referable to the prostate, and indirectly probably have a smaller prostate size) would also harbor prostate cancer as they age. About a third of such men would, but majority may remain without symptoms and die of other things such as old age.
Avatar m tn I ended up going to the walk in clinic the same day I started experiencing these symptoms and they checked my urine and said I had some white blood cells in it, and they then diagnosed me with a prostate infection. I took 10 days of antibiotics (sulfameth) & after I finished them, I still had some of the symptoms but I felt a bit better. Its been about a week since I finished my antibiotics and I still have some of the symptoms , like I still feel like I need to pee even after I just went.
Avatar n tn could the Bactrim be causing me to feel so tired (no rash or jaundice or anything listed in the serious side effects portion of the pamphlet that came with the Bactrim)? Also, after 5 days of Bactrim should symptoms of a prostate infection be improving? I am hesitant to call my Dr. about my possible reaction to the Bactrim because I don't want to become labeled a "difficult patient". Any advice you could offer would be great.

Avatar m tn When you are seen , get basic urine testing done as well as they should manually examine your prostate to check for inflammation. Prostatitis can cause symptoms like you have had and can be present in men no matter what your age - it's not just something for old men.
Avatar n tn I had a Henia last year 2007 this pinched my bladder but gave the symptoms of a Urine Infection, I saw another Urologist who gave me the finger in the rectum examination, between the exam and blood tests the Urologist told me I had the prostate of a 35 year old and had just a 5% chance of ever getting prostate cancer. So there you have it, I can see no problem in frequent masturbation and yes it may help your problem. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn Hi, Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the cells of the prostate gland. The PSA test measures the level of PSA in the blood. Common benign prostate conditions such as prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia can increase PSA levels.PSA levels alone do not give doctors enough information to distinguish between benign prostate conditions and cancer. It would be best to get the PSA after your treatment as well as the digital rectal exam to watch for any changes.
Avatar m tn previous urethral infection and via ejaculatory and prostatic ducts. However, with the tests done showing negative results, it is difficult to come to a diagnosis. Are there other signs or symptoms present? Was there trauma to the area? You can always have another opinion if you are not convinced of the test results. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn should I follow up on this? I have no symptoms of prostate problems that I know of (strong morning erections etc.
Avatar m tn You could have a urinary tract infection, urethritis (an infection in your urethra), an infection in your prostate - all which can be caused by other things than STDs. https://www.healthline.com/health/male-discharge-non-std How long has it been since you've been sexually active, including oral sex? Most men who get symptoms will get them within a couple of weeks after infection, depending on the infection, and it would be unusual to get them much later, but it's possible.
Avatar m tn Now I never though it could be a yeast infection until the last time we had sex and she felt the symptoms of another yeast infection. Here are my questions: 1. Could this be a male yeast infection and can it irritate the prostate, urethra area? 2. Are we just passing it back and forth to each other. 3. Could a yeast infection lay dormant in a male and flair up when conditions are right? 4. Could female yeast infection be a result of oral sex?
Avatar m tn Complete. Blood, urine, etc. It was actually to see if I have prostate problems or diabetes because of my frequent urination. So prostate cancer is what I am worried about. But I am also scared because 6 months ago, I had a protected sex with a masseuse (high risk), a month later, I have a very bad fever and sore throat that I hadn't been experiencing in a long time which are the most common symptoms of HIV. I am really scared.
Avatar m tn Really, but iam 26 I thought that exam was for men in their 50's.
Avatar f tn IF your husband is only 45, and if he may have some symptoms of prostate infection, treatment with antibiotics may be advised, upon completion the PSA would be reviewed if the value drops. Stay positive.
