I have a presentation coming up next week, so I decided to go and seek medical help today. I went to my doctor and he diagnosed me with social anxiety. He said that the best treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy, but he prescribed me some medication to get me through this semester. He prescribed 10 mg propranolol (inderal) 3 times a day and an extra 10 mg inderal 1 hour before the presentation + 0.25 mg Xanax 1 hour before the presentation.

Im a 21 year old male, when I was 16 I was found to have social anxiety, low blood pressure & also an irregular heart beat. i found myself unable to attend school assemblies etc my social anxiety was so bad, helped not by my other underlying conditions. Even tho I am asthmatic I was put on 40mg propranolol daily, it changed my life, I was able to queue up in public places etc without the fear of fainting. Anyway 5 years later, 3 weeks ago I experienced sleep paralysis for the 1st time.

Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.

Hey, like mammo adviced you, there's ways to get help for you social anxiety. I've suffered from social anxiety for years and I didn't want to do any presentations at school at all coz I would start to shake and sweat and my face would be all red. The a doctor gave me propranolol which is a safe med (doesn't have any bad side effects) that aliviates all the symptoms.

So nardil is a great medication for social anxiety disorder, however I'm too afraid to take it in pill form because of the dietary restrictions it imposes. I was wondering if I can get a pharmacist to convert my pill prescription into an injectable dosage so that the medication bypasses my gut.

As far as evidence goes, the only problem this has been shown to help with are those with heart palpitations that are real and not imagined and those with social anxiety. Prozac isn't the best antidepressant for anxiety because it tends to be stimulating, so I'm guessing your main problem is anxiety. Only trying this drug will tell you if it will work, but it certainly was never approved for this purpose. It does help some. It doesn't appear to help most.

Propanolol is given for a variety of reasons to include anxiety, tremors, migraines, high BP, angina and others. It can cause some odd feelings when first starting it. I don't understand this being prescribed to you for your symptoms. The Codamol is a pain reliever, but it soundsa like you needed an antibiotic. I doubt that you would be feeling any effects after two weeks from these two drugs but we never know.

Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.

This medication can be prescribed PRN or as needed for anxiety situations. For anxiety situations like performance anxiety or social anxiety, the dose is usually 10 to 80mg. So, you don't sound to be taking more than you should and if it is prescribed prn, there will be times that you don't take it which is expected. Does it help you?

I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication

t wish to add more meds on top. The propranolol seems like a good idea if it will target isolated anxiety producing events that trigger this ED or other panic type symptoms. I'm sorta hopeful that propranolol itself will help me push past this occasional sex performance anxiety. Still want to run it by my GP though. It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.

They are generally effective only with social anxiety, though you never know. They work by slowing down the heart, so they work with people who have racing heart as an anxiety symptom, but not usually if you don't have that symptom. But you never know.

I have ventricular beats that are getting more and more frequent and stronger, or myb im just too much scared or stressed that i imagine. Im falling in depression, and i have massive anxiety and panic attacks. Currently im on Propranolol 10mg 2x day. It ease my PVCs and my fast HR but it slows me down. Btw i have low BP, 110-70, sometimes 90-50...and when u put Propranolol atop of that... This is my EKG Holter monitor of 24h.

I never new until now that it was also used for anxiety also. I still take the Propranolol twice a day as directed for my heart. I was currently on Lexapro twice a day for anxiety. The Lexapro wasn't working so they switched me to Paxil once a day. They also added Klonipon twice a day as needed.

So, I started researching it and have found that it is not generally used for someone with generalized anxiety but usually for those that have anxiety in certain situations. I wake up and go to sleep with a lump of anxiety in my chest. I also read that it is not good to use regularly for someone with asthma. Any suggestions or feedback on your experiences with this?
