Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
1125820 tn?1265284446 Hi MsConfusedone, You mention that you have been on almost everything, can you be more specific? It would help knowing exactly what you have tried so that I could suggest medications that you have not tried. Also, how many migraines do you get per month? Yes, most migraine medications do work well for most people. But, not everyone has the same success with all medications. For acute treatment of migraine headaches, first line treatment is triptans.
Avatar m tn m not finding much information on the side effects of this med. It could be possible that the sweating and hair loss could be side effects of this med. You can call your Dr or pharmacist. Either of them can tell you if these are side effects of this med.
Avatar m tn Hi, Hallucinations and night mares are common side effects of Propranolol. However, these are not serious side effects. You do not need to stop the medication for these symptoms. Please talk to your doctor for the management of the symptoms. Another fact about Propranolol is that it should not be stopped suddenly otherwise it may cause Angina, and possibility a heart attack. Please discuss with your doctor if you really want to change the medication. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn How much propranolol are you on? I have been on it for more than a decade and never really noticed any problems. Any medication has a huge realm of possible side effects. If you weren't this way before, ask your md to try another beta-blocker. There are lots of choices. It depends to a certain extent WHY you are taking it as to what are the other reasonable choices. Good luck, sometimes the best cure is simply stopping taking a medicine that is turning you inside out.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
4155003 tn?1351614311 The ONLY responsible advice we can give is that of greenlydia's. There really is NO amount of alcohol that is "safe" to consume if it is contraindicated with a medication (which it is, with most meds). A lot of docs will say it's okay to have ONE drink occasionally, but certainly not many drinks, and often. This is something each individual person must dicuss with their doctor. Whatever the doctor recommends should be followed.
Avatar f tn If I get any problems I will get another BP test at the chemist, I also have to watch the muscle weakness side effects as I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy.
865431 tn?1239774493 I took the medicine finally (after my insistence NOT to take it at all)and now I am just trying to know anyone has side-effect after this medication? Hopefully the answer is "DONT WORRY, THERE IS NO SIDE EFFECT!" Thank you guys! WIsh you all best and happy Easter!
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/propranolol-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20071164. Being fatigued and the sleep issues may be associated with the medication and I'd talk to your doctor about that. Did the palpitations begin in the past three months when you started the medication?
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
Avatar n tn They are safe in terms of drug interactions but for the patient, side effects can increase. That is individual to the patient though. Do you take the beta blocker on a regular basis for your heart or for acute bouts of anxiety such as giving a speech?
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
895401 tn?1302792967 I expect the ventolin would give you some physiological response, not sure if they, or the side-effects, are being misinterpreted as manic symptoms. You will know your body best though. It could be a drug reaction or even just because you're feeling more vulnerable at this time due to the flu, chest infection and now breathing difficulties. I have absolutely no idea when it comes to medication so you'll have to wait for the doctors response.
Avatar m tn Are you overweight or obese? You are currently taking a class of medication called a beta-blocker. The side effects you are experiencing are very common. I would ask your doctor about switching you to a different class of medication like a diuretic, ACE inhibitor, ARB, or calcium channel blocker.
10610562 tn?1411418414 But I miss the calming of the anxiety that the Propranolol was giving me, as well as the shaky hands being completely cured from the medication. Is there a happy medium? Basically, I want Propranolol, but without the bad effects on my asthma from it. I miss my hands being steady, and my anxiety being much reduced. The Metoprolol just does nothing for me.
Avatar n tn I was taking Propranolol which I had problems with. I had some severe side effects concerning my central nervious system. One of which was memory loss. During the 6 months that I was taking it (for blood pressure) I started to think I was going a crazy because I was also having very vivid dreams which I was having a difficult time with. In real life I had learned some things that normally would have been difficult to deal with.
