Propranolol has no effect on perception or the thought process - its only potential advantage is to block the physical manifestations of panic. If you have many physical features accompanying your A/P, Propranolol would likely serve as a useful adjunct to either an antidepressant or anxiolytic.
1475202 tn?1536270977 However reduction in portal hypertension is possible through the use of nonselective beta blockers, particularly propranolol and Nadolol. These medications reduce portal pressures both by decreasing cardiac output and by producing splanchnic vasoconstriction. Several studies have shown that nonselective beta blockers decrease the risk for first variceal hemorrhage by 40% to 50% when compared to patients taking placebo.
1008841 tn?1293598960 I already take Spironolatone 100 mg, furosemide 10mg, propranolol 10mg, which she not taking me off of. I have Thrombosis in my right portal vein. But, my BP is pretty low usually and my pulse rate is already so slow that I'm afraid sometimes my heart will just stop. Avatar m tn For me the Metoprolol is the worse beta-blocker I try so far... I Can deal with some dizziness when I stand up from the Bisoprolol or Nadolol, I can deal with a little bit more difficulty to fall asleep with the Atenolol or the Propranolol, but I can't live with all the side-effects from the metoprolol and I don't see how people can handle it especially in high dose? I guess everyone is different and react differently to a specific med...
768044 tn?1294223436 and lots of people use beta blockers, I personally use the beta blocker Nadolol and I have pften heard other people on the forums mention a beta blocker called Propranolol. In addition, I know that Magnesium is a very popular preventative treatment here on medhelp, and I personally am using Coenzyme Q10 at the moment... and I had used Vitamin B2 for years.

Avatar f tn * Nyquil also interacts with Beta-blockers (eg, propranolol/nadolol) which patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension usually take. Medicines even over the counter meds can cause complications of cirrhosis. Talk to your doctor about how to treat your cough. That is there job. Good luck!
29837 tn?1414534648 The reason they do the endoscopy or pill cam is to find out if you have varcies or any type of problems due to acid reflux or stomach ulcers. So far I have not had any adverse side effects from the atenolol . So If they say it will help varcies i'd try it. At 25mg it can't be to bad.
Avatar f tn If anyone can help please, I appreciate it. Does anyone have trouble breathing taking beta blockers nadolol? I don't know quite what it is like I feel my breathing and it does not feel normal. Also, developed bad rash that itches like crazy and wonder if it is the nadolol. I didn't get it right away as I'v been taking it for several months and it is the only med found to lower my heart rate, but have these things since I'v been on it and can't help but wonder.
419309 tn?1326503291 Would appreciate anyone's knowledge about and/or personal experience taking Nadolol... My husband has been prescribed a 20mg/day dosage, with the caution to keep a close eye on his blood pressure. Can anyone tell me what side effects, if any, you experienced, and if your blood pressure varied significantly, or at all, when starting/taking this med? Any help or feedback? Thanks... ~eureka PS: anyone take Nadolol while on treatment?
Avatar f tn Typical treatment as recommended by the AASLD is the use of the nonselective beta-blockers propranolol or nadolol which do have dosage guidelines for the reduction of portal blood flow. I myself used nadolol for 6 years before my liver transplant and am only experienced in its use. I haven't seen any guidelines for the use of carvedilol. I would suggest calling your doctor's office and asking how you should be titrating the dose for the most effective preventative effect.

This study showed a benefit of combination therapy (33% vs. 41% rebleeding rate), but it was not statistically significant.
Avatar f tn When this occurs it takes my breath until it stops then I feel the need to deep breathe to get it back in rythum. I am on Nadolol 20mg daily. I feel that my symptoms (especially the fluttering and palps) are getting worse. What would cause that?
324184 tn?1308076203 I have only taken 3 tablets of the Nadolol and I have been on Zoloft for about 2 months or so. I spoke to my headache specialist again today about the concern of the two medications and he informed me to keep taking them both and that it is rare that these two will have a bad reaction to one another. I did not mention the alcohol....

Avatar n tn I am on nadolol and my blood pressure is extremely low. I've clocked it with a home blood pressure guage at 74/48 yesterday morning and the highest it's been is 90/55. My mom is freaking out, saying my organs could shut down and I am causing permanent damage. Anyone know at which point I should go to my doctor or the hospital. I feel faint most of the time but haven't fainted in two weeks. I am newly diagnosed and have been suffering with severe symptoms for four months.
Avatar f tn Otherwise, healthy with no family history or sudden death or fainting. I was put in Nadolol only take 10mg for now for my prolonged QTc on some of my ecg till I see An EP at Mayo. Also waiting to do genetic testing. I was heading out yesterday and started to feel a bit lightheaded and I sat down. Then heat started in my head and chest. I checked my pulse for about 3 seconds and there was no beat. I started to freak out and then I felt it. But I really though I was going to die.
Avatar n tn I have been on Methimazole 10mg 3x a day for four weeks and was on propranolol for the first two weeks. I am off the propranolol. After three wks I am now taking methimazole 2x a day. Since the on set of this illness I have had achy/painful gums which seem to get more severe with each episode. I have seen my Dr., dentist and a periodontist. Tylenol helps. No one can find a cause for this pain.
