Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol in pregnancy

Avatar n tn I usually have high blood pressure. I'm on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar f tn I am now on 30mg of Buspar which is a Class B medication and it has helped tremendously. Also, most anti depressants are OK during the first trimesters of pregnancy and even in the third, but there is a risk of withdrawal symptoms to the baby in the third trimester. I am on cymbalta which also helps for anxiety, but I use it for pain. Anyways, this should have helped answer your question.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn A GP that specialises in headaches suggested Propranadol in 2013, I have tried other things he suggested first so I explained this to my new regular GP & he said I could give them a try.........no checks what so ever! Anyway I got a BP test done at the chemist & read all I could & have decided to start taking them, I am on 20mg twice a day intending to work up to 40 mg twice a day.

Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Either I have two newly-developed hardened bodies near the base of my penis, or they've been there all along and I never noticed them before. They do not seem to be structured in a vein-like manner; rather, it's two symmetrical lumps, on of either side of the center-line of my penis...the only word I can think to use is like a "buckle" across my penis from left to right, or vice versa. If I squeeze either of the lumps with any force, it is quite painful.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar n tn But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.
Avatar f tn I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I had a sweatshirt on and a blanket over my legs but was still feeling chilly, and the ringing in my ears would not go away. I sat in my living room attempting to distract my self for a few hours while the ringing went from quite to loud every few minutes or so. This lasted for a couple hours and eventually went away completely and I was able to go back to sleep. I am not quite sure what exactly is going on or what it is. I would love any insight into this. PS.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar n tn I was atenolol prior to my first pregnancy (in the 80's) and my doctor switched me to digoxin once I became pregnant, as he felt if was a better choice during pregnancy. Since there wasn't internet then, I guess I should look these up and see how these two drugs compare to one another during pregnancy :).

Avatar f tn Treatment with both propranolol and fluvoxamine may result in slower heart rate and low blood pressure. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage. Otherwise, clonazepam can be taken together with propranolol.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). Avatar f tn I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously. My pulse has always been 65 to 80.

1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar m tn Is it in general dangerous to take Beta Blocker (Propranolol) not in regular basis but whenever palpitation occurs? https://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Please note that propranolol is a beta blocker and, in addition to quelling anxiety, will lower blood pressure. Generally speaking this medication is not given if the systolic blood pressure falls below 100.
1413042 tn?1281770262 The endo has asked for another blood test in 2 weeks time. So, should I discontinue Propranolol or take it for 2 more weeks? Or try to wean off? Would there be any adverse effects if I stop it now? How much heart rate & BP is reduced by Propranolol? Will I get hypotension if I continue with Propranolol? Please suggest.
