Avatar f tn Regarding your cousin’s condition, the Bisoprolol has stronger effect than Propranolol on heart rate and is cardiordiselective (acts only on heart cells) while Propranolol is non cardioselective. Irregular heart beats in themselves are not life threatening if controlled (not exceeding 100 beat per minute), and if your cousin’s pulse rate doesn’t frequently exceed 110-120 beats per minute, it’s ok to wait for 2 months.
Avatar m tn "In any case the OP does not have heart failure by definition. " Yes I agree. This is why I said that: it was good from his doctor as he said: "weak heart."instead of heart faliure.....still what my friend said the nurse it makes sence to me.:) .....because if we go from down to up we can, could fall back as many did infront of my eyes on other board. ...but true if a heart only started to fall , I mean the % from normal, it is just a weak heart.......
Avatar f tn My OB put me back in propranolol today and said it should help with the palpitations but I’m concerned because my heart rate seems really low to me and I know it lowers it to help blood pressure. Also I’m nursing I was told that it palpitations could be caused by that?? I have no family history of heart failure, disease or anything so I’m not sure if that makes a difference. What could cause all of these?
Avatar f tn PTSD a cause of heart failure? I do take medications for PTSD. Cardiology consult tomorrow. I take propranolol for PTSD and primary doc just prescribed lasix and lisinopril.
865431 tn?1239774493 but it begins from heart racing, so I breathe too fast, and cause low level CO2 in blood, according to my knowledge. I am going to visit cardiologist again... thanks for comment if any.
Avatar f tn I have been on 10 mg of propranolol 2x a day for 3 months for (POTS) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and I have a anxiety disorder that has been totally out of control again. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together.
Avatar n tn m on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar m tn It sounds like the thickening of the heart muscle (LVH) is due to this blockage, and the mitral valve leakage is due to either high pressure in the pumping chamber and/or an abnormal mitral valve. Propranolol may help suppress extra heart beats but will not help the underlying situation. This child needs surgery to relieve the outflow tract obstruction, which will likely need to be a very complex surgery called a Ross-Konno procedure.
4155003 tn?1351614311 Yes aslongest your not taking any medication, u can drink, but dont abuse is bad for your heart, & head... Beta blockers are good for lower bp and heart rate, or after heart attack or heart surgery, just take care eat healthy, n acohol might be good for ur heart or might be bad for ur heart, talk to your doctor.. Ask for advice... Best of luck...
Avatar f tn The condition can cause an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) and a weak heart muscle (cardiomyopathy...heart failure). Sometimes sarcoidosis develops gradually and produces signs and symptoms that last for years. Or it may appear suddenly and then disappear just as quickly so it is difficult to assess. An abnormal EKG and chest x-ray would usually show indicate an enlarged heart...but your EKG was normal! You should have an echo to assess the pumping function of the heart.
Avatar n tn Is it an indicator that I may have some blockage that responds to the blood thinning effects in aspirin. Am I at risk of going into heart failure because of the very frequent ectopic beats?
Avatar f tn CRP Blood test(this looks at inflammation in the body and can also help with heart disease diagnosis. 3stress test(this is a must have!) 3.I don't know your medical history or if you have a mental health history but even if you do, 4.stay away from soft drinks, tea and coffee, sugar and sweets. please don't let the doctors make you feel its all stress or mental until you see facts from tests.
Avatar m tn ve worn 6 Holter monitors, had upwards of 40 ECGs, 3 stress tests, 3 echocardiograms, and an MRI of my heart. My grandfather died suddenly of heart failure in his 60s, as did many in my family on my mother's side, so when I was diagnosed with tachycardia (sitting I'm 90 bpm, 120-130 walking), ectopic beats, & possible POTS, I began researching my condition in an attempt to do away with them. If you're reading this, you probably have skipped beats, which are terrifying.
Avatar f tn Propranolol can interact with adrenaline or stimulants, causing high blood pressure and reflex bradycardia (heart rate slows down in an attempt to reduce blood pressure). People taking propranolol, going to the dentist, injected with adrenaline combined with a local anesthetic, experiencing a heart rate of 40 with a blood pressure of 200/100 is not unheard of. But if so was the case with you, you would likely not faint or fall. This is a symptom of temporarily low blood pressure.
Avatar m tn I started to become obsessed with my heart and worried non stop about heart attacks and disease. So much that I took more propranolol tablets and became addicted to heart rate apps. Now I no longer use the apps but I feel like the propranolol are what's keeping me stable. And because of that, I no longer feel safe without taking them. I feel like my body and heart are exposed without taking propranolol.
1413042 tn?1281770262 The endo has asked for another blood test in 2 weeks time. So, should I discontinue Propranolol or take it for 2 more weeks? Or try to wean off? Would there be any adverse effects if I stop it now? How much heart rate & BP is reduced by Propranolol? Will I get hypotension if I continue with Propranolol? Please suggest.
Avatar m tn Since BB should, in most case, actually lower your heart rate, and you get the bigeminy/trigeminy only at low heart rates, perhaps expect an increase initially? I've been taking 40mg of Nadolol for like 20 years and I think that it's a wonderful drug for those of us who suffer from IST type issues and palps that seem to flare up with stress and caffeine and sugar intake, etc. I've never felt bad when taking this, never had fatigue or anything.
727090 tn?1268839348 t drink and not over weight. I have been on propranolol 10mg 3xs a day for a history of high heart rate and blood pressure. Since my kids have been on christmas break, we all were staying up real late and staying in bed real late. I noticed that since all the sleeping i was doing, my heart rate has been very low, unless Iv been excercising or cleaning. When sitting my heart rate is 58-62. My blood pressure is pretty normal with this heart rate.
Avatar f tn After having been sick for most of a year with terrible scary tropical diseases while I was a missionary in Bangladesh, I got a viral infection while in Nepal which settled in my heart. My whole heart was swollen from the inside in. As it healed, it made scar tissue that has completely made the conduction go haywire. I actually tolerated the very fast rate for a long time. Once, after a long time gong quick, I made an appt with my doc. (notice I didn't say I went to the ER...
1413042 tn?1281770262 It not only keeps your blood pressure and heart rate lower, but it keeps you from having the effects of a thyroid storm (a malignant acceleration of heart rate, blood pressure, and body temp that can result in brain damage, a heart attack, or a stroke). Also, when the time comes for you to go off of it, you should taper over a 2-4 week period. (Eg. Week one-take 1/2 dose each day; Week #2 take 1/2 dose every other day, etc.
1504778 tn?1321394645 i have a condition similiar but mine palpotates when my heart is over woi entrked i have an extra nerve on it ,they put me on propranolol for what i had i didnt have palpotations but the pill made me real tired and slugish so i got off it ,if your not feeling that give it a little time to work if it stops the palps and not feeling exhausted every day you should be good ,if you have no change call him after a few days i went through like three different meds before they got it right hope that h
Avatar f tn Treatment with both propranolol and fluvoxamine may result in slower heart rate and low blood pressure. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage. Otherwise, clonazepam can be taken together with propranolol.
Avatar f tn I (was) exercising 2-3 times a week (running / walking 3-4 miles) I DO have an extensive family history of heart + thyroid issues (grandfather died at 49 with heart failure after 3 heart attacks, mother had portion of her thyroid removed, fathers blood pressure is through the roof as my sisters is as well. About a month ago went to my PP for what I though was a high resting / working out heart rate.
Avatar n tn Why were you taking it? For your heart or for migraine? If you were taking it for your heart it could increase your risk for angina or heart attack. you might need to try a different heart med.
1494095 tn?1288784877 I recently posted that I was on propranolol 2x day for the heart palpitations associated with Graves Disease, I have been on the meds for 4 days (today is day # 4), not only has this not stopped the palpitations but they've INCREASED, and the discomfort i causes is getting much harder to bear. How long should it take before the propranolol begins working?
