Avatar f tn I am 31 years old and I complain that I don't have many friends yet I avoid social situations almost always. It's a toss up for me to decide which is worse, having no one to hang out with or to put myself into a social situation where I may meet new people.I take Paxil to get me thru regular day to day activities. I was in prison for most of my 20"s and getting out made my social phobia worse because I only knew how to socialize with inmates and correctional staff.
Avatar f tn Anyone knows the dosage of propranolol (inderal) for a 37 year old for the purpose of relieving the symptoms asociated with anxiety (shaky hands and trembling voice) that is to be taken 1 hour before the anxiety provoking situation?
Avatar f tn I have suffered from what I seem to think is social anxiety/phobia. When I am in the public eye I feel like everyone is looking at me and talking about me. Sometimes I get so bad I have to leave the public situation immediately. Sometimes I won't leave my home for days and here lately weeks. (Recently lost my job) If I do need to go to the store I will take my brother with me so he can go in and get what I need.

Avatar f tn There are new medications for social anxiety disorders and depression. See a Doctor. They can help get you fixed up. (I've had similar issues, due to being raped when I was 15.
5148952 tn?1364321766 Realizing that we are all human and that many feel a touch of anxiety in new social situations (or old ones even that one is still getting comfortable with) helps. Trust me, you are not the only one feeling anxious at a social gathering. Look for others looking for people to talk to. They are always there. Some selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRI's have indications for social anxiety and work very well. I tried Prozac with great success. Lots of luck to you.
Avatar f tn I am 18 years old and have been positivity diagnosed with POTS after a positive tilt table test.I am taking 80 mg Propranolol and 0.1 Fludrocortisone along with increased water and salt intake to treat my condition, which somewhat helps. But I also suffer from depersonalization and chronic fatigue .Is this a familiar experience for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome ?
Avatar f tn Oh how I feel for you. I am a nutritionist. I'm in my 40's. But I had social phobia when I was your age too. I'm so very sorry that you were bullied. First, I want to say something about that that MIGHT help you. People who feel good about themselves want nothing more than to make other people feel good about themselves. And people who do not feel good about themselves do not want others to feel good about themselves.
Avatar m tn Hi, I suffer from severe social anxiety and public speaking, my doctor in Manila prescribed me Abilify and Sertraline. Did anyone use these medicine for social/public anxiety and does it help?
Avatar m tn The Dr prescribe me with meds for my palpitation and palpitation..Prex 75 mg pregabalin and inderal propranolol..if you can give meds or advise for to remove my phobia so my palpitation will gone..
Avatar m tn Im very worried i have avoided soaps and tried to use epison salt and that helps a little bit but then the pain comes back sometime less the others. Also have social phobia and high anxiety.
Avatar f tn Im a 21 year old male, when I was 16 I was found to have social anxiety, low blood pressure & also an irregular heart beat. i found myself unable to attend school assemblies etc my social anxiety was so bad, helped not by my other underlying conditions. Even tho I am asthmatic I was put on 40mg propranolol daily, it changed my life, I was able to queue up in public places etc without the fear of fainting. Anyway 5 years later, 3 weeks ago I experienced sleep paralysis for the 1st time.
605458 tn?1539228808 That would monitor the kind social situations you were in that day - telephone, in person, chat, etc; how much interaction was required, for example I could mark 1 social situation that required mininimal interaction or 2 social situations that required maximum interaction and how much anxiety was felt; mark medications taken, such as antidepressents or antianxiety meds, or things like relaxation exercises and maybe how much relief was gotten. Something along those lines. Would that be possible?
Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
Avatar f tn //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_phobia I would suggest you to explore this option and let us know if you need more help.
Avatar f tn As far as evidence goes, the only problem this has been shown to help with are those with heart palpitations that are real and not imagined and those with social anxiety. Prozac isn't the best antidepressant for anxiety because it tends to be stimulating, so I'm guessing your main problem is anxiety. Only trying this drug will tell you if it will work, but it certainly was never approved for this purpose. It does help some. It doesn't appear to help most.
Avatar n tn To find a well informed answer to your query about the Sertraline-Propranolol combination, you need to look for information/evidence according to the hierarchy. A systematic review (a review of a number of studies exploring the same issue) is considered the best as far as strength of evidence is concerned. Clinicians' experience, case reports and non-journal articles are lower level sources of evidence.
Avatar n tn s, though social phobia can also result in some of those same social behaviors. The repetitive routine and the 'different' appearance lean more toward Asperger's, so be sure to ask this question when you see the psychologist.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
722310 tn?1234762137 I have a question about social anxiety accompanied with phobia. I am a mother of 5 and I have had social anxiety since I was young. I am now 45. I bagan to drink and use drugs at an early age, to help bring comfort when I was around people. I had it pretty well managed, by making myself get out. I have had counseling in the past, but I never discussed this with the counsler, because I really didn't think it was a major problem for me. My 2nd son is turning 16 next month.
Avatar f tn What yes, is that in my past a few years before my PTM yes, it was a strange thought but it had to do with something like social phobia. That is why I sometimes attribute this to the PATM, I read articles where there are experiments that show; In the face of anxiety, stress or a state of panic, our body emits a certain chemical that invites sunken protection.... More or less, my hypothesis goes that way.
Avatar m tn As in you never had any of these illnesses you thought you had. Easier said than done. I am fully aware of that. You seem to have a touch of social phobia with a phobia around health too. Nothing that can't be fixed mate. Doctors and therapists are there for a good reason. To teach us coping skills. What to do if we feel bad in a certain situation. How to handle it all. But more importantly would be to get to the root cause of your problems. Where it all stems from.
Avatar f tn I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem. So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
