1260320 tn?1270394906 Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar n tn I usually have high blood pressure. I'm on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar m tn I started taking blood pressure medicine at the age of 26 and also had a hard time adjusting to the medication (I had some of the same symptoms as you except feeling depressed). If your blood pressure has been running high for a long time, you and your body will have to get use to being in the normal range. I think it took me over 2 months to get adjusted, but please go see your doctor to make sure the medication and dosage is correct for you.
Avatar n tn Almost 8 years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I've been taking beta blockers ever since. Most of the time even with the beta blockers, my blood pressure and heart rate would run high. 140/90 range with the beta blocker even higher without. Well now, for the past 2 weeks or so, it has been running low. I've been taking less and less of my beta blocker (propranolol) over the past few days, my usual dose is 20 mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn I bought a blood pressure monitor and sure enought my blood pressure has been spiking. Last night I went to the ER and was all was well until I started dozing off to sleep, blood pressure went up and up. They gave me Adavan and watched me sleep. That did the trick and leveled out my blood pressure. The Dr. said it was not anxiety as I am asleep and it has something to do with my autonomic system and thryoid. Has anyone ever experienced this or high blood pressure with Hypothyroid?
Avatar f tn If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
Avatar f tn i would like to know if there is any liquid medication for me to take for my blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Hyperthyroidism is a cause of high blood pressure and high pulse pressure. Pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure readings and is normally around 40mmHg. Eg: 120/80 = 40. Your pulse pressure for your reading of 163/94 = 69 mmHg.
Avatar f tn Over a period of three months, my blood pressure read as high (140-150 systolic and 85-92ish diastolic) at each appointment. When I told him I was suffering from a pulse visible in my eye, he prescribed propranolol (3 10mg doses a day, 8am, 2pm, 8pm) for me. That drug didn't reduce my blood pressure effectively enough so I was placed on Lisinopril (10mg once daily at 8am) just last week.
Avatar m tn What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap). So when the blood pressure is already low to normal, then the beta blockers have more side-effects for sure.
Avatar m tn So I was put on amlodipine 10mg and Propranolol 40mg on 1st July 2016. This helped lower my blood pressure to around 115/68. Only problem is that it makes me feel quite tired after little activity like walking. After complaining about this tiredness to the doctor yesterday, he changed my drugs to 100mg Losartan (1 tablet per day) and 25mg Atenolol (2 tablets per day).
Avatar f tn Even with family history, viral infection, and long time not treated high blood pressure that all also factors, and I had them all ,if the stress level wasn’t that high that I had I probably never get down that suddenly and badly. I never got my answer from any doctor: why exactly? The answer was different from all doctors.:) I know from myself :all the 4 factors together were getting me down.
29837 tn?1414534648 I take my blood pressure daily as I was on the high side and now I am normal again. My pressure is normal for the most part for a change to a healthy diet (and I have so far lost about 25 lbs in 6 months), I eliminated most products with high salt, and replaced them with others. I am eating more vegetables too. I feel great!
Avatar f tn 230lbs I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure. My doctor put me on 80mg of propranolol to help lower my BP. I wore a 24hr blood pressure monitor before being diagnosed and my average blood pressure was around 150/90. I don't understand why my blood pressure is so high? I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. I eat pretty healthy especially as of lately. I've been trying to excersize atleast 4 days a week (walking, golfing, kayaking etc).
Avatar f tn I discussed my occasional ED with my psych doc and we both feel it's anxiety related. He recommended propranolol 10mg just before sex. It's a beta-blocker mostly used to lower blood pressure but sometimes used for performance anxiety situations like stage fright, exam taking, job interviews etc. He's used it with other patients experiencing ED. I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years.
Avatar n tn I use ice and fiornal to control pain. sleep with ice packs on my neck. can this raise my blood pressure? it is high worse it gets so don't like the fact they just want to tell me to take bp med when a lot of time is is normal. can this pressure pinching pain be causing the high BP? thank you if anyone answers.
727090 tn?1268839348 t drink and not over weight. I have been on propranolol 10mg 3xs a day for a history of high heart rate and blood pressure. Since my kids have been on christmas break, we all were staying up real late and staying in bed real late. I noticed that since all the sleeping i was doing, my heart rate has been very low, unless Iv been excercising or cleaning. When sitting my heart rate is 58-62. My blood pressure is pretty normal with this heart rate.
1124887 tn?1313754891 m fully aware that my BP most of the time is normal, but I occationally get symptoms that I somehow relate to a high blood pressure, when I'm stressed. It can be a pressure sensation in my head (rare), short (seconds) bilateral pulsatile tinnitus when standing up, difficulty to focus, feeling of "wool" in my head. I'm aware that my shoulder/neck muscles at times are tense. I've checked my BP right after a stressful 10 hour day at work. 110/65.
Avatar m tn Propranolol have very low effect on the blood pressure, as it contract blood vessels. It has, however, a stronger effect on anxiety-related tachycardia as it slows the symp. nerve system. It also slows HR reaction towards stress. I was evacuating people a couple of hundred meters from a terrorist attack last friday and my HR wasn't above 120 I think.. Metoprolol, atenolol, etc. have a stronger BP reducing effect.
Avatar n tn Also, if you notice any changes in your blood pressure, pulse or other symptoms related to enhanced action of Propranolol, you can always adjust the dose to achieve the best possible outcome (again, with your psychiatrist's review). I hope that helps with the first part of your question. Sertraline can be taken any time of the day provided you take it the same time each day. Similarly, you can take Clonazepam at fixed time of the day.
Avatar f tn The beta blocker medication effects the central nervous system and is helpful for stress related symptoms and treatment for high blood pressure. Of interest, propranolol is one of the banned substances in the Olympics, presumably for its use in controlling stage fright and tremors....Propranolol is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Thanks for your questions. If you have any other questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
