Avatar n tn I was atenolol prior to my first pregnancy (in the 80's) and my doctor switched me to digoxin once I became pregnant, as he felt if was a better choice during pregnancy. Since there wasn't internet then, I guess I should look these up and see how these two drugs compare to one another during pregnancy :).
Avatar n tn Hi, First off I wanna ask did your doctor specifically prescribe the propranolol to be taken on an as needed basis or are you taking it daily? Typically this class of medication is to be taken daily due to its effects and the potential for complications from taking it irregularly.
Avatar f tn As long as you keep your thyroid levels good and follow doctor's orders, you'll do fine. Make sure you get your thyroid levels tested monthly during your pregnancy. You'll probably need to maintain higher levels now that you are pregnant. I'm glad you're feeling well.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.

Avatar f tn If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
5252520 tn?1366044234 I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.
1504778 tn?1321394645 Hey I'm 18 iv had palpotations everyday for the last 5months or so and chest aches and pains, I went to the cardiolagist and they checked my heart with the tred mill test, heart echo and two 24houre ecgs's they said my hearts well structured and looks like a healthy heart and said what I might be getting is a early heart beat called a ectopic heartbeat. They perscribed me Propraolol to take one in the morning around 9.30 am and one in the evening around 6.
Avatar f tn How we initially got started on so much was because propranolol is safe during pregnancy. The rate and rhythm problems were badly exacerbated by my second pregnancy, but they could n't fool around with too many drugs. During the whole pregnancy, they could never find my baby's heart rates because mine was faster. I ended up having 4 months of heart failure through it.. thankfully, she was born 5 weeks early without having to be induced.
Avatar f tn Same here except no meds have every worked for me. During my first pregnancy my specialist said take the max dose of Tylenol (1000mg) in combo with promethezine or benedryl. If it doesn't work you can take two Excedrin migraine. Then if that doesn't work go to the hospital. And the Excedrin can't be a daily thing. Twice a month max and only if necessary.
Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with abdominal migraine and put on propranolol (taken daily to prevent migraine), and it worked very well. We weaned him off the propranolol after a year or so, and a year after that the nausea came back. Now he's been nauseous for 8 weeks straight and has missed a month of school. Propranolol is not supposed to stop a migraine in progress, just prevent them; we tried putting him back on during this episode but his pulse dropped too low.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
Avatar f tn I had Eclampsia during my first pregnancy, what are my chances of having eclampsia again in my next pregnancy? Is there anything I can do to prevent it of happening? Please provide me with lots of information on Eclampsia to help me understand it more.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
Avatar m tn When school started again, during the first week I used propranolol for two days at the same dose and I realised that blushing, high blood pressure, palpitations came back. The second week I tried to increase the dose in order to overcome withdrawl. However, the outcome was even worse. Tremor and trembling voice came back. Overall, I have school lessons 3-4 times a week. This Monday, starts the third week.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
10894761 tn?1413637884 When taking propranolol, I had massive spikes in blood pressure during stress, even though my blood pressure at baseline is low. If I was stressed at the doctors office, I could easily have a blood pressure of 155/105 and sometimes even higher. Now, during stress, it's more in the 120/80 range, and without stress, 100/65. The reason is simple, propranolol blocks the vasodilating effects of adrenaline (beta2-receptors), leaving the vasoconstrictive effects (alpha receptors) unopposed.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
