There was just a report on the news last week that statins have been linked top type II diabetes. My wife is on 80mg of Simvastatin while I'm on 20mg. Coincidence or not, we both contracted type II in recent years. I believe that the benefits pf statins outweigh the risks and have altered my eating lifestyle so to nearly exclude carbohydrates. This has enabled me to continue statin regime while keeping my fasting blood glucose levels at acceptaptable unmedicated levels.
I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia.
I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes.
I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.

Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up.
I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms?
I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug?

4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.

When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences.
We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day.
For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg.
I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime.
Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime?

I'm a healthy male of 26. I'm not hugely active but I have no physical health problems, and I'm a healthy weight for my height (BMI of 19). Last Thursday evening I noticed a small black spot in the peripheral vision of my right eye: in the bottom right corner. It was present on Friday, and on Saturday I saw an optomerist. He gave me a full exam and took photographs of the back of my eye using new technology.
We have tried protonix, balcofen muscle relaxer, propranolol, Donnatal with no results. We have also seen a neurologist and treated for abdominal migraines but no improvement. He has these episodes where he gets flushed, ears get hot, BP and pulse are elevated to 130/88 and pulse can be 108. Cardiologist said his heart is fine with an EKG and heart ultrasound. These are the times where the stomach squeezing and nausea are worse. It seems to be happening worse when his stomach is empty.

i am 28 years of age,i had a problem of trembling my fingers of both hand,specialy when i write it was more difficult,then i consulted a neurologist so he checked me and prescribed me propranolol 20 ml to take 3times a day but i was affraid to take 3times but i took that only once a day as i was asked by someone if i continue that much i will have to use it forever.when i take that i feel much better.
If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. Once I was diagnosed, I was relief, but my anxiety and sleeplessness didn’t go away. I was on 10MG Propranolol as needed basis. However, to make the anxiety go away, I must take it three times a day. About 18 days into the Methimazole, I started to take only one or two 10MG Propranolol. I think I may not need to take it today or even just one. I have heard that Propranolol, beta blocker, can also create insomnia.
However, I still can’t sleep.
