Avatar m tn about 20 years ago while performing in Denver..I had my 1st bout of stage fright..heart racing...shortness`of breath..hardly enough air to complete a sentence...it was so dibilitating..I became fear full everytime I had to hit the stage..I know I shouldn't focus on it..but I do..it'll start early in the day..last time in Vegas..I was almost in tears in the middle of the day...I've been turning down opportunities due to the fear...I've medicated myself with tequilla..and it helps.
1268921 tn?1288919056 hmmmm interesting tidbit, this med is banned by the Olympics as it helps control stage fright.....lol....and tremors....oh my....I guess that can enhance a performance if u no longer have stage fright and no tremors... Please let me know how it works for u.....
Avatar f tn Of interest, propranolol is one of the banned substances in the Olympics, presumably for its use in controlling stage fright and tremors....Propranolol is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Thanks for your questions. If you have any other questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn s a beta-blocker mostly used to lower blood pressure but sometimes used for performance anxiety situations like stage fright, exam taking, job interviews etc. He's used it with other patients experiencing ED. I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP.
Avatar n tn If you are not taking the propranolol daily you could always try the xanax alone prior to the presentation and see how it affects you, but if you are taking the propranolol daily I think it would be best to space the medication and take them separately. As with any meds you could always contact your physicians office and speak with the nurse and determine what would be the best option for you. Good luck on your presentation and try to remain as a calm as possible!
Avatar n tn Propanolol isn't addictive. It's a beta blocker, prescribed for hypertension, and heart related symptoms (ie palpitations), and it's often used on an as needed basis for people with stage fright, or fear of giving public demonstrations, etc. It can be effective for anxiety, and is frequently prescribed for anxiety. How did your doc instruct you to take it? Daily? Or as needed? One of the biggest concerns is a drop in blood pressure.
Avatar n tn My doctor said they were nothing to worry about and that even he has been diagnosed with it. I dont cope too well with fright (as these scare the life out of me) and have had many nervous breakdowns because of the fright they give me. I was put on Propranolol for the palps and started anti depressants when i was 21. Ive managed to come off all of these and really dont want to go back.
Avatar f tn Whenever I feel like I have to pee lately I almost get like stage fright for a few moments and then I start going with no problems sometimes like a "racehorse"...no pain but its a bothersome problem waiting to go like that? any problem?
Avatar n tn This has put me on the side lines for promotion as my ability to stand for what I believe in is doubted by senior management. What can I do to overcome this. When I read stage fright symptoms, my situation seems to fit.
1251333 tn?1445218215 t have personal experience with propranolol sorry. At this stage there still seems to be a distinct lack of research and treatment options for MS tremor's. It's one of the MS issues that doesn't have a good track record treatment wise for some reason and tremor treatments can actually worsen fatigue so it can be very hit and miss help wise unfortunately...
Avatar n tn Hello. I recently started taking atenolol for stage fright, 50 to 100 mg once to twice a week. it worked great! until after several weeks i started getting a sensation of irregular heart beats. i have been off of it now for 2 weeks and i still get a skipped heart beat sensation followed by a very forceful heart beat. i checked my pulse and there is a long (couple of seconds?) pause in the heart beats when i get that feeling.
Avatar m tn recently there is trouble reciting well memorized verses in public, and on stage. there is no trouble reciting them in private. this is a recent problem. age: 75 : s/p quadruple bypass and pacemaker. this is not stage fright. feel like someone is pushing to complete the recitation in hurry! thyroid profile, BMP and all other health maintenance tests normal. will propanolol help?
Avatar n tn this is not what u want to hear but what he is going thru is normal.....ppl...women and men get to used to functioning or lack of under the influence of alcohol and that is their norm....take it away and they feel like they have 2 left feet and many feelings of insecurity inside that men will not readily admit to or be open to discuss..if ur man is willing to discuss how he feels at this time that would be great...but it is a tenuous touchy time.
Avatar m tn I have had the feeling of nausea (without actually vomitting) for two months now -- also stomach pains especially in the morning and when I have not eaten. It gets much more worse under slight pressure (lecturer office hours, while teaching infront of many students, while presenting).. I have to say that I haven't had that before, I have no fright of stage and I have given lectures infront of big audiences for years now without this problem.
Avatar m tn In particular, musicians, public speakers, actors, (especially, pornographic actors), and professional dancers, have been known to use beta blockers to avoid stage fright and tremor during public performance and especially auditions. The physiological symptoms of the fight/flight response associated with performance anxiety and panic (pounding heart, cold/clammy hands, increased respiration, sweating, etc.
Avatar n tn Do research on it it is used for actors for stage fright /public speaking. Has a lot of off label uses for anxiety. Also if u feel one coming on try controlling your breath deep breaths in through the nose out through the mouth sometimes this can just stop it in its tracks before it even starts .
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
1211508 tn?1343079605 Hi Nursegirl. Yeah it sounds kinda scary to fool with your heart. I did tell my doc about my (relatively) low resting HR. I also mentioned that some of my uncomfortable phobic symptoms are often occurring when my HR isn't all that high. Sure it gets high when I'm really panicking, but the fact that I'm able to get myself to panic in the 1st place is the real problem.
Avatar f tn Do you have sex with him now? I don't think you should worry about it - I'm sure that if he loves you and you love him, it will be so natural and such a turn on that he can reassure you and also realize that guys have "stage fright" too!
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn i went the first time for a wee and wiped and everything was normal... went back again half an hour later (very weak bladder at this stage lol) and when i wiped there was a jelly like substance on the toilet paper it was a yellow colour no blood... is this my mucusplug or discharge. Normally my discharge is white but this was jelly like and yellow in colour?
Avatar m tn hey, it sounds to me you have stage fright and worry about it to much. believe me I am the same. try joining up witht the local theator and practice acting, or try taking some acting lessons or speach lessons. it will help!
Avatar f tn Honestly I did it with 3/4 of my previous, the last one I got to 7cm without even knowing I was in labor! They did need to use pitocin still with her cause I guess she had stage fright lol. Mind over matter! I'm SERIOUS. I never knew any different until the last so it was fine for me, and besides I'm so committed to natural birth for my baby and me. The pain is temporary with a wonderful result in the end!
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. Avatar n tn First, I am a 25 year old male, in great health. I was masturbating and I vomited, and this was the first time it happened. I felt fine before, and the nausea persisted for a bit after. Now every time I masturbate, i fell like I am going to vomit; but have yet to vomit again. It is starting to worry me a bit, cause I sometimes have trouble urinating. Its kinda like I get 'stage fright' and unable to start the flow. After 'pushing' for about 45 seconds, it usually starts.
