Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol and lisinopril

Just an error I'm sure. I never had this problem with my previous medication (metoprolol and lisinopril) but the propranolol was thought to be a more fitting beta blocker to assist with the portal hypertension. Is the 40mg ER twice daily worth a try? If so I will further pursue this route. Thank you very much for your time and everything you do to assist MedHelp!
By the time they implemented the flecaininde, I was on 300 of metoprolol and 200 of propranolol. The body does and amazing job of compensating and I was able to maintain a pressure. When the flecainide was added, it seemed to make everything else work better and for the first time since myocarditis, my heart was SLOW. After the 3 ablations, I still have to carry a backpack full of meds.
That drug didn't reduce my blood pressure effectively enough so I was placed on Lisinopril (10mg once daily at 8am) just last week. As I attempted to gradually reduce my propranolol dose I experienced tachycardia, so, after consulting an ER doctor, resumed my regular dosage. I am due to see my pediatrician this thursday. *I was home alone with my father when he suffered the stroke, which took place during a huge blizzard. It was rather traumatic.
I have high blood pressure and am taking lisinopril and they gave me another beta blocker propranolol er 80 mg which has helped with the pressure it was overbearing feeling like my face was about to explode. I take my meds at night. lisinopril, propranolol, sertraline 50 mg because the dr talked me into it, sronyx 0.10/0.02 mg becuase of the periods that won't stop.
I am so worried that it is something so serious. I have seen 4 different doctors and had blood work and urinalysis done and always given anxiety as diagnosis. I am currently taking lexapro for about 3 weeks now.. seems to help a little but annoying head pressure/pain will not seem to go away. Does anyone have any advice?
I am a 25 year old female. I have never smoked. I drink maybe 3 times a year. I have been having chest pains over the past couple of hours. It has been a steady pain....(7-7.5 on a scale of 1-10)... I've had a little bit of pain in my shoulder as well...What could be causing this? I am 5'8" and I weigh 260. I do have high blood pressure and asthma, (i take Lisinopril and Albuterol for those).
At the time though, I was also on 200mg propranolol and diltiazim and lisinopril. At this point, you are dealing with relatively low doses of fairly innocuous medications. Be sure and stay SUPER hydrated to help deal with the side effects of the meds. The closer it looks to water when you urinate, the less likely you are to have dehydration issues to compound the issue. Rest assurred, it is rare for people to have these issues become life threatening.
This last couple of weeks the chest pain on exertion or stress has returned, sometimes radiating to my neck. Yesterday my BP was 145/95 and I asked if I could add propranolol - also for my essential tremor. I should like my BP to be below 130/80 as I have diabetes and a the above family history of heart disease. My cholesterol is slightly raised at around 5.5. I had to come off simvastatin because of muscle pain, and was changed to bezofibrate 400mg daily.
My BP remained between 130/84 and 145/95 and I was on lisinopril - increased to 20mg and diltiazem 120mg. In 2011 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I eat a healthy diet, although overweight (but losing), and it is well-controlled on Metformin.
his currently taking Lactulose Solution,USP 10g/15ml,lasix 20mg twice a day, lisinopril 20mg, Aldactonee 50mg twice a day, Propranolol 20mg twice a day, Omeprazole 40mg,Aspirin 81mg can you please tell me if these meds will really help my husband! and do think the Dr actually told me the truth about my husband having less then a year :( hoping to hear from you soon!
Of course, I realise the problem may be getting your doctor to take this on board and recognise that a) you might have an underactive thyroid and b) the Lisinopril is causing your throat/chest symptoms. I suggest you perhaps try to surf the web and find out more. www.about.com is a great website for thyroid information by Mary Shomon. You just click on T for Thyroid and you will be able to scroll to the thyroid bit. Does this sound like it might be you?
Also there is a pain I get in what feels like my left lung or to be more specific directly to the left of my sternum that comes and goes. I'm a software engineer and I don't get a ton of exercise and I use my hands a lot to type but I try to take regular breaks and get some amount of activity. I take a daily multivitamin and drink a lot of water.
I will NEVER take an SSRI again although for some people they seem to work. I am hypertensive myself and take 10-mg of Lisinopril once a day (along with Propranolol (80-mg 2x/day for varices) and it brought me right down without side effects. With all the othersx's I have, that is a good thing! I think like OH sez, you are fine, so no worries!
all produced severe fatigue and aching I react by dropping my BP excessively (especially in conjunction with lisinopril) in the past I had mild asthma when on propranolol My BP currently varies between 112/72 and 148/95 - mainly around 125/80
He diagnosed me w/cardiomyopathy (a new word for me). He told me to continue the propranolol and added lisinopril 5 mg per day. I asked him if this condition is what's making me so tired and he said no; acted like its no big deal and said he wanted to recheck heart function in 6 mos. and hopefully the meds will have improved my EF. I went online to find out more; found theres 3 kinds of cardiomyopathy and wondered why he didnt tell me which one I have.
What is quite strange, is that I imagine this started when I started using propranolol (20 mg) for PACs and sinus tachycardia. After this, my heart didn't race when I got scared, but beat harder instead. When I was really scared, I actually had bradycardia, but I got a strange sensation that my blood vessels were constricted (may be imagination..) I got my beta blocker changed to metoprolol (25 mg) and I feel my anxiety getting a bit stronger.
Amazingly, I never even had low bp probs with all that, my body would just adjust. Once I was on it AND metoprolol AND lisinopril, bp started to be more problematic but the rhythms were bad. Then they added diltiazem and kept increasing the dose every two weeks. Then, flecainide was added.. and my rate slowed down... ALL the way down. I had to be taken into the ER with a rate of 0. So, they gave me a pacemaker so they actually could give me all those meds and not just kill me.
I also have denegrative arthritis and on Celecoxib 100mg twice daily. Iam also taking meds for high blood pressure Propranolol 80mg and Lisinopril 20mg daily. At times I feel as if Iam functioning in to worlds, past and present, I explained this to my PCM and I was put on Gabatrantin for seizures and I have a constant high pitched ringing in my ears that sometimes becomes so loud I have troubles sleeping... Okay now you see my problem are all these meds taking its toll on me?

Also I was soooooooooooo dizzy for 10 days after and could not stand up. I drank loads of pedialyte and gatorade and pretzels to retain water. YOu do not want to get dehydrated after a spinal. And the puncture site was terrible. It was so painful for weeks. No one told me to expect that. Also, I think the guy hit something because my sciatica was in pain for days and especially the muscle in my bottom. That was painful. You can take tylenol for pain.
I am currently on the propranolol along with Omeprazole which I have been on for several years and Lisinopril which I was started on about six months after all this started. I have had several blood tests, all which have returned normal. I am a 33 yr old male, 6'6" 280lbs. Prior to 3 yrs ago, I have never had any of theses issues before. Within the last 6-12 months I have noticed a increase in headaches (frequescy and severity).
It could be 10 meds at 3-4 times a day. I've had 3 ablations and still have brief tachy times, PVC's and PAC's and occasional bits of chest pain. But I only have one pill (Diltiazem) that I take if my tachy gets stuck and won't stop. I'm not required to take it every day. Are all your pills related to heart arrhythmia?
The docs just kept increasing the number of drugs I was taking and the amount of each one. In January, I was taking 300mg metoprolol, 200 propranolol, lisinopril, 360 diltiazem... occasional labetalol... then he added flecainide. It was dream come true. My heart finally slowed down... on the first day. I had only taken half a dose being afraid of some of the effects of flec. The next day, I took it as prescribed. Lucky for me, I was at work... and I am an ER nurse.
When they were trying to control rate with JUST beta blockers... I took 200 of propranolol and 300 of metoprolol and occasional 100 of labetalol here and there. It helped but it worked a LOT better when other classes of drugs were added. Since the point is to slow you down, it generally SLOWS you down. When I was on THAT much, I felt like I was nailed to the couch. Now, instead I take coreg as a beta blocker and diltiazem, and flecainide and lisinopril.
And its not Metoprolol that helps anxiety. It's actually Propranolol that treats stage fright and performance anxiety, which is a b2, not a b1 blocker. Just some thoughts.
I told her my blood pressure has been running low 90/58 and she said the at home devices are not as reliable. But I know how I felt, faint and dizzy and extremely fatigued. So she made me sit there for awhile and it came down. But I tried to explain to her that while in the waiting room I kept having hot flashes and dizzy, little short of breath and I get scared when that happens. I take 50 mg toprol xl, supposed to take a 100 mg but it totally wipes me out.
For example, I am taking lisinopril for BP control and Inderal for PVCs. I would like to know more about cholesterol medications like lipitor, crestor and vytorin. THANKS!!!
I was put on 20mg propranolol/day.It gave little bit relief from pulsations, but pulse was hovering around 85-90 and BP around 125/85. I took that medication for 14 days. As the sympotoms were not getting better, I was put on Atenolol. Now I have taken it for the last 15 days (12.5 mg BDS), my BP is stabilized around 120/75-80. As soon as I take this medicine, within couple of hrs my pulse goes down to 70-75 and then slowly increases to 95-100. Wake up pulse in the morning is 95.
I just got diagnosed with svt, and was prescribed Inderal LA, and just wondered if anyone has used it. Mostly worried about side effects, and it lowering my hr too low.
