While recently in hospital, Telemetary monitoring revealed frequent episodes of Ventricular Bigeminy, Tachycardia on activity and Atrial Flutter. I have become very symptomatic with this, with lightheadedness, shortness of breath and irregular fluttering/pounding in the chest with the Bigeminy/Flutter. Any sort of activity brings on these symptoms. ECG's also showed frequent runs of PVC's/Bigeminy. Echo is fine.
My doctor prescribed another PT, urine specimin, and complete blood count. Diagnosis was an infection in my prostate and an INR of 10 (ten). My question: Is it possible to go from 3 to 10 in three weeks with no diet change? The only possibilty I can think of, is the addition of 50 mg per day of Atenolol for blood pressure, 3 or 4 days before this problem began. By the way, I stopped the Atenolol.
5 mg of Coumadin per day to maintain an INR of between 2.5 and 3.5. I had to be hospitalized twice in the first 6 months post surgery. Once for a Basal Ganglion Infarction, from which I recovered completely and once simply to be placed on Heparin due to a low INR. I have been ok since then. I would like to get rid of this valve. Are there any other options availible to me? Have there been any advances in cloned valves? As a young, active person I am not sure an animal valve is the answer.

This forum has provided a post of drug interactions and the problem with coumadin is that it reacts with hundreds of drugs and some of them increase its effects and some decrease it effects. It is worth looking at the older posts to get that information and understand it. You job as patient is to monitor your INR or protime levels. If they are too low, it could cause a clot. If they are too high you could have bleeding.
I think I/we can guess or prognose just as well or better than they can at times particularly if we know something about health and or ourselves and our own health. Never be afraid to speak up because I feel strongly that digestive tract problems are real and translate into other real nasty symptoms like this. Fortunately we can prevent much of this & need to prevent it from happening.
I get these unexplained chills all the time, where im freezing cold with goose bumps all over my body. They hurt and I can barely walk they are so bad sometimes. I check my temp when I get these episodes and its perfectly normal. I do not have a infection or am not sick. Im not even in a cold environment. Everyone around me is not cold. Its the weirdest thing, and I cant find a answer for it. Its like my body is messed up and sending these chills for no reason. Please help.
