Avatar m tn m doing 1G L-arginine (nightly) and 2G Taurine (split AM/PM). I do consume alcohol at times and caffeine daily. So far so good! But then again, it may be my unique body chemistry or not related to the supplements. It would be cool to get more data points. For me, it took about a week for mine to go away - and I was in the thousands per day. I can't say for sure when they went away though as I had close to zero expectation that they would. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn I just wanna know other than propranolol, are there foods that have beta blockers? I have benign essential tremor and it is most active when I'm speaking in front of group of people (these include hands, voice, and cheeks) but it happens all the time even in a normal day. what shall I do? I can't concentrate on my job and for any discussions we have because of this ET.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar n tn t know much about MAT but it sounds like it is a bunch of pacs occurring from different focal points causing your heart to beat irregularly and fast. It is possible drinking alcohol dehydrated you and then your panic caused the pacs to jump in. Stress will cause ectopic beats to flare up. That said, if this only happened once and your heart is generally healthy you may not need all the meds. Unless your bp is consistently high from stress and anxiety it seems that you may be over medicated.
Avatar m tn The day after I felt fine again so we just dismissed it and continued drinking alcohol and partying. But the day I had a flight I was feeling anxious again. And during the flight I was heavy breathing and my heart was pounding. Next day I went to see the doctor, he said it is because of dehydration and energy drinks, he prescribed me propranolol which didnt help me.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar n tn While alcohol is known to improve BET, excessive alcohol consumption is recommended against since alcohol is addictive and harmful if not used moderately. I recommend continued follow-up with your doctor. it is important for you to discuss all your questions and concerns with him/her and find a treatment regiment that you are comfortable with and that is effective.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar m tn These are usually intention tremors and other causes which need ruling out is alcohol withdrawal, hyperthyroidism, and etc. Treatment would include medicines like propranolol, which blocks adrenaline related neurotransmitters, and primidone which is an antiseizure drug. Consult your neurologist for the indication of therapy and the relevant treatment should be given if indicated. Take care.
Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar f tn controlling high blood pressure, relieving angina symptoms, and treating atrial fibrillation. Propranolol may also be used off-label to relieve alcohol withdrawal symptoms, treat hyperthyroidism, and slow down the progression of aortic dilation in children with Marfan syndrome. IF this medication is right for the person you are inquiring about cannot be answered here. This is a question that can only be answered correctly by the patient's physician.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
1828749 tn?1317778518 Do NOT change your meds based on this answer!!!!!!! Why did the doctor change your meds? SVT and IST are two very different conditions. I think a minimum requirement before treating something is to verify the diagnosis, just like a legal judgement is required before putting someone in jail. Also, propranolol and verapamil are very different meds.
Avatar m tn This may represent one of the mechanisms by which propranolol is effective in preventing bleeding and rebleeding from varices. However, our findings should not be taken as an invitation to advise physical exercise in portal hypertensive cirrhotic patients receiving propranolol.
Avatar m tn Has this always happened when you take this medication? Have you changed your diet? I know when I was drinking a lot of soda or carbonated beverages(especially if I took the meds with it), I could taste anything that was put into my stomach recently.
