Avatar f tn As long as you are not pregnant, there will not be any adverse effects. I only mention pregnancy, because it was prescribed by an OBGYN. Fluconazole is generally not safe in pregnancy unless in a severe emergency. But Propranolol and Fluconazole taken together will not interact with each other.
Avatar f tn t know exactly how beta-blockers cause depression, the three most commonly adverse effects reported with their use are fatigue, sexual dysfunction and depression." From AARP http://tinyurl.com/cyxbdun Another site said that because propranolol was often given along with beta-blockers it's gotta be the propranolol. LOL http://www.currentpsychiatry.com/index.php?id=22661&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=175054 This is a good time to investigate the fine print and see who funded what study.
Avatar f tn Abrupt cessation ( suddenly stopping the drug) may lead to worsening of the underlying condition. POSSIBLE ADVERSE EFFECTS Common Rare Lethargy/ fatigue * Cold hands and feet * Naseau is rare Nightmares/vivid dreams are rare Dry eyes are rare Fainting/breathlessness are rare if this happens, call the doctor immediately. better yet, I would call an ambulance. ( my opinion) visual disturbances are rare I'm not a physician.

Avatar f tn Hi I think you need to have you medications modified. You may be having allergies to propranolol and I do not think it is advisable to continue taking it. Discuss this with your physician as there may be alternative medications for you. He/she knows your case better and shall find the drug more suitable for your condition. At this point, inform your physician about this. You should take medications to feel better and any side effects have to be reported.
Avatar f tn Hello!. Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with propranolol therapy are similar to other lipophilic beta blockersBeta blockers, including propranolol, have an additive effect with other drugs which decrease blood pressure, or which decrease cardiac contractility or conductivity. So the short story is that"yes"it probably is the beta blocker. But saying that see how you get on with them,it will take at least one- two weeks to really settle down.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
Avatar n tn 1) a reduction in metoprolol dose, and 2) the addition of non cardio-stimulatory asthma medicines to your regimen to counter-act the seeming impact of the metoprolol on your lungs. This would best be expedited by a conversation between your electrophysiologist and your asthma doctor. The 2 of them could also decide upon which anti-hypertensive medicines might be best, for example hydrochlorothiazide being an effective anti-hypertensive with no effect on one’s lungs. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar m tn Hi, Hallucinations and night mares are common side effects of Propranolol. However, these are not serious side effects. You do not need to stop the medication for these symptoms. Please talk to your doctor for the management of the symptoms. Another fact about Propranolol is that it should not be stopped suddenly otherwise it may cause Angina, and possibility a heart attack. Please discuss with your doctor if you really want to change the medication. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn http://www.hepatitis-central.com/hcv/cirrhosis/propranolol/exercise.html There is much more detail in this article. Note that this study focussed on MODERATE EXERCISE while taking PROPANOLOL and not an activity like weight lifting.. I would guess that you're taking Propanolol and there does seem to be some benefit with moderate exercise. Intuitively it would seem that strenuous exercise is not a wise thing to do if you have banded esophageal varices.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I also was on propranolol for a while with no side effects. I don't agree with banglamom in saying the best cure is to stop taking your medicine. Some medicines can have side effects at first that wear off after you've been on them for a month or so.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
